Much of the preparation is mental fitness, not physical. I would suggest if you do want to train then train for a few days together. Don't just walk on Saturday or Sunday, for 1 day. The hardest part of the Camino, for many, is the first 3 days. So if you can go out for 3 days straight and walk 20km every day, you will feel those first few days and prepare your mind for the pain. You can do it and you will feel great. Best mental preparation ever :) Physical fitness doesn't matter unless you want to finish in record time. Just take your time, take as long as you need and enjoy every step. Train your Brain first, the legs will follow! Cheers Ricky, always good to see your videos, you are cool :)
Hi Robb! Great to have you here, the consecutive walking is one of the keys... I remember first time i did Saturday hike and then next morning walked 8 more hours... It definitely was out of my comfort zone, the body was saying NO but the mind was pushing it forward! In those moments the control of the mind is the only one which can help. Thanks for being here, hugs
Hi Daniela! April is just around the corner, so excited for you! Next week's video will be about adjusting the backpack correctly, it might be useful for you and everyone! estou te mandando abraço
For me on a physical note the camino was very centered around my feet. Taking care of them, looking after my blisters everyday. checking put the pressure, decide on weather it needs popping or not. Disinfect and then plaster every morning before walk and afternoon after walk. This for me was camino essential about my feet in a physical sense.
Im doing the camino this summer, but starting from belgium and all alone, and with a terrible history with my knees. Thanks for the vid! Wish me luck ;)
Lotte! what a great journey you are starting, this will be an amazing story to share with us, so keep updating us about how are you doing! Any other help, we are here! hugs

Walked C deS (Frances) in July this year starting. St JPdP on 2 July, arriving Santiago 25 July. Wow! was hot! A bit of a walker before started prep but never this distance previously. Walked 10 miles daily for three consecutive days to help decide if could do it a month before and then ( off and on) walking in English Lake District and Dales Way. Watched a lot of your very useful and entertaining videos. (Age 67).Thank you😊
Thanks Stuart! It's nice to have here. You did 23 days of walk? that's fast! I totally agree, that one of the most useful tests is to walk consecutively for few days.. thats a real test! Dales Way? how was it? Is there a place to stay on the way? hugs
Im loving discovering my town during my training. doing about 10-15 kms each walk, a few times a week when I get the chance. Cant wait to see what challenges i face and how I overcome them
That’s the spirit! I love to walk into those forgotten corners of the town, back roads and discover the place I kinda know from a different angle! When are you starting the Camino?
I'm planning to walk the Portugues in September. I'm walking, wearing my pack, getting used to being simple and have low expectations with contentment. I want to be more consistent. 😁
I did it last year in October and I got 13 days of rain. My fist camino as a beginners mistakes were the following if they can help you avoid them: - I had a pair of goretex Salomon shoes, great for slippery rocks and wet wooden trails but too heavy once wet and impossible to dry. I suggest a non goretex shoes with lots of amortization like hoka or asics trail run shoes like asics trabuco. I ended up having tallonitis and tendinitis for the last 4 days. - Pack as light as you can. I had a 40 liters backpack and it is too heavy. - if you book your hostels in advance check if they have towels, I have found towels pretty much everywhere and didn’t even need shampoo etc because they had it there. - it is a proper hike with hills, woods, lots of stones etc, trekking sticks are very helpful, consider to get one pair while in Porto at decathlon. I have left mine in Santiago so other pilgrims were able to use them on their way to Fatima. - This experience will change your life in a better way!
Hi Shawnie! We are so happy about your Camino, we will walk Portuguese way from Lisbon in few months, so we will upload some fresh content regarding that walk, stay connected! How many days weekly you are able to walk? Let us know how is your consistency progress :) hugs
Hi Chiara! I can see that although your was wasn't smooth, you still manage to get the best out of it! I wish to do a small podcast with Camino stories and you could be one of our first guests :) what do you say? thanks for the all advices, hugs
Love your videos Ricky! I approached preparation with a three-pillar strategy of physical, mental and spiritual. Pick three things under each pillar that you feel you could improve in your life and work on them. If the Camino is a metaphor for life, well preparing for the three commonly perceived and discussed "stages" of the Camino Frances ought to also improve your "life" which is a metaphor for the Camino. Are they reciprocal metaphors? Is your life a metaphor for the Camino? Is there a philosopher in the house? ¡Viva La Meseta!

It is so important as one blister can damage you entire experience ( or make it more unforgettable 😅) thanks for sharing Edvard
When I was younger I was a forestry worker. 5 days a week I walked in the mountains, planting, thinning, brushing, etc. The first 2 weeks were hard. 😅
That sounds like an amazing job!! What was the best memory of these years?

Hi Daniel! thanks for the presence, I've already subscribed to the channel! When are you going for the Camino this year?
Great video!
Hi. What kind of supplies and gear do you bring with you on the camino?
Hello! We have en entire list in the description 😊 if not on this one, on all the newer videos!
I'm planning to walk it this year, but from what I can see March is too cold to do it? I'm from Ireland so used to wet and windy weather :-)

@@caminotellers The best time to do the Frances would be in April? Or is it still cold then? I don't want to do it when it's full of people
After Easter the weather is nice and the crowd is less... May could be busy, but its not a chengless thing!
Done. Subscribed
Thanks Wendy! Welcome to the family
Walked 10,000 steps every day for a week for the first time, my achilles tendon hurts a lot, do I keep walking the same or do I reduce the steps?
Take it easy, better safe than sorry! If after some time you will feel comfortable with distance, increase 📈
This specifically for the Camino Frances
It applies to all… the first Camino experience we did was del Norte and primitivo and then french and Portuguese so the tips apply to all of them
❤️❤️❤️
💚💚💚💚
I walk/run & hike on a regular basis but my favourite physical challenge is to follow a pretty girl who walks faster than me ,, phew haha ,, 😓😢
Hahahaah I might put your practice into my rutine 😂😂😂
Have you guys seen anyone with an umbrella? 🙂
Was it you???? There are many on the Camino… they are great to scare dogs and keep you in shade when the Meseta sun is in its best!
don't over stretch cold muscles , warm up first ,, just common sense
Yep, the only thing that we sometimes lack… common sense
Really? Winter?
yep... winter! Napoleon pass was closed the last time I got there...
