The day Pastor Maldonado won his first and only Formula One race was a validation for him and to me that he really did deserve his Formula One drive. I have a very different view of Pastor's difficulties in the series. That win was a great day for me as a F1 fan. Not many human beings have ever won a Formula race. You Go Pastor.

My dad was a PDVSA worker during the time Maldonado was racing, the company was falling apart and the corruption was huge (still is), meanwhile they were paying million dollars a year for that idiot to keep crashing and putting in danger everybody else
He was clearly good enough since he won GP2. No ordinary driver can win that. Not even nearly. He also got a win in F1. There has been many excellent drivers who never got a win in their career.

Im a new F1 fan (started following and watching after the Azerbijan GP this year) so your channel was super helpful in understanding the sport when I first wanted to get into it.
to be fair, maldonado was in general pretty fast and competitive. Unfortunately, he didn't had the focus and the consistency to end the races. Without half of the avoidable accident, he would had been a great middle grid pilot. Many of them were just really stupid mistakes that you makes only when you are distracted or not focused (like on the pits). Honestly: he had every potential to compete on F1, but he fucked up by a low level of focus and situational awareness. Both things that you can work on. When the problem is the talent, you cannot really work on it, if you have it, you have it...but throwing away a career because you don't work on your situational awareness and focus, by keeping doing the same silly, stupid and really avoidable mistakes over and over...feels really like a waste.
Nerd, your one of the few channels I’ve found that you can feel the passion behind the Videos. Keep it up brother, besides you can take this with a grain or salt or sugar, I grew up in Indiana so I’ve been a lifelong INDYCAR fan trying to branch out to other open wheel racing.
Stories like this one really highlight how small the margins are in F1. Here we have a racer who (unlike Mazespin) actually showed some quality and getting wins on lower levels, but in F1, there is ZERO margin for error. On lower levels, mistakes don't necessarily mean that you immediately spin out. In F1, they do.

I was at Sebring for the 12 Hours and 1000 mile races in 2019. Maldonado was driving an LMP2 car, and coming out of Sunset Curve, the fast and very bumpy last corner, he crashed. When we heard it was him, no one was surprised.

I was at Sebring for the 12 Hours and 1000 mile races in 2019. Maldonado was driving an LMP2 car, and coming out of Sunset Curve, the fast and very bumpy last corner, he crashed. When we heard it was him, no one was surprised.

Every time maldonado started his engine, fate was rolling dice. I heard about a race track marshall who saw a wall trying to move away before maldonados crash, true story
