Kubica even after all the accidents managed to win the championship in WRC2, ELMS, WEC and even now has a chance to win the next Championship in ELMS
Edit: He did win another Championship in ELMS!

Growing up as a polish young kid into cars watching the only ever pole in f1 was something special. Everyone was watching f1 and hoping for Kubica, i remember when my family made parties and all guys were watching f1 and all girls were coming by from time to time and asking "which place is Kubica???". So humble, down to earth and so skilled, so consistent. Still to this day my idol, today i see a little Kubica in Oscar Piastri, he will definetly be on top one day. 8:00 podium in italy was more important because Kubica spend his whole teenage years racing in italy, he lived with italian family and speaks fluent italian.
13:00 bmw didnt help stopping development of 08 car to focus on 09. That went well as we know
16:00 he HAD signed contract with Ferrari for 2012 at this point.
19:00 dont forget Claire Williams deceived Kubica in 2018, promising him a seat in that season just to sell it to Sirotkin in last minute because he came with more $ than Kubica. Kubica said that he was asked by her to wait for the contract because they (Williams) were ironing out the details so he took her word, while she was using him to hustle Sirotkin.
20:00 and to add to his bad luck his car stopped on the last lap of Lemans 2021 from the lead in LMP2, but they won championship eventually in 23.

@@user-741ddsiwm3d6 Chinese GP. They've switched their cars for friday (because they were trying to find the issue), and suddenly Kubica got faster than Russell. So they've switched cars back for saturday. Kubica was just receiving older parts. (I mean, physically older - not when it comes to spec) Wiliams had manufacture problems with their composites. Carbon composite tend to lose their stiffness overtime under high loads, and when car parts lose stiffeness, car becomes less responsive and the feeling worsens.
Nevertheless, his later Raikkonen replacement has shown, that he's not the old Kubica anymore, as he was clearly outpaced by Giovinazzi.

Ridiculous from BMW in 2008. Their only aim for the season was to win a race, and as soon as they did they stopped development - even though that win gave Kubica the title lead.
You said Ferrari and McLaren were "just too good" that season, but really there was so much inconsistency from Hamilton and Massa (and Raikkonen) that Kubica could've had a shot at the championship.

Yeah, the way BMW approached F1 was so stupid and clinical. You have to take your chance when it presents itself, not follow some checkbox list. You'll never know if you ever get that chance again. And BMW messed 2009 up big time and were gone by the end of the year. If they'd only seized the opportunity in 2008 and not given up on it immediately after that win in Canada to "focus on the next year". What could have been...

He is damn cursed - his story is so unbelievable, his skills are so astonishing, speed undeniable. I believe its not the end for Robert!
Some corrections - people were worried about his legs being injured during the Canadian crash, because the nose of the car was ripped off and his legs were visibly sticking out of the car while it was being thrown around.
The guardrail during the near fatal crash was incomplete in that place and was open towards the road - thats why his car didnt bounce off it but it jjust went into the car and through it. They were working on it and it was left in an unsafe state. He also didnt want to drive that rally that day - he had a feeling and he called the organisers to cancel, but they talked him into it.

If you wanna know a side note, Kubica was treated and today still is, if I' m not mistaken, by my same physician (i don' t remeber the correct name in english, sorry) here in Tuscany, Italy. In the testing in spain with Renault after the crash there was also the physician with him. His lab has a full corner with Kubiza racing items: race suits, helmets, photos and trophies. Kubica still got that. I think he could fight against Alonso and Hamilton, or even Verstpen in f1 car, but Wiliams in 2019 ruined his oportunity to race with anybody put them to crapy wheelbarrow.

Indeed, Kubica was quite successful after his comeback - a WRC2 champion of 2013, then ELMS champion in 2021 and 2024 plus an LMP2 WEC championship title in 2023. His time in F1 after the injury was a waste, in 2019, he was just too slow, a rookie Russell was already beating him almost all the time.

With all due respect, he wasn't behind Russell, in fact, in that season Williams scored only one point.
And guess who got that point. I'll give you a hint - it wasn't Russell.
And don't you think that the fact that the car was dogsh*t contributed to the fact he performed poorly?
Ps: Please, remember who they gave his seat to.

Each time he got up and showed everyone he is one of the bests in what he is doing. It's easy to be on the top when you are going with the wind. Try his route and not allow to be broken. He makes me proud being Polish.

This rally in 2011 was supposed to be his last rally, because he had already signed a contract for the next season with Ferrari.Kubica loves rallies and said that thanks to rallies he is a better F1 driver. He drove in rallies during the F1 season breaks, Renault allowed him to do so, but he knew that when he will go to Ferrari he would no longer be able to race in WRC.

I was only around 10 years old when I saw his races (mom was a huge F1 fan even back then) and he's really left an impression. The accident I think was also a talk among people here who didn't even watch F1.
Also to add context as to how bad his accident in 2011 was - it was said that in the most critical moment he only had less than a liter of blood in his system.

Éric Boullier was responsible for Kubica's career destroying rally crash, there was no way Robert should have been given permission to compete in a provincial
car rally as he was a very major asset to Renault F1 and given the F1 car he was about to pilot the following season, he could very possibly have taken the drivers title that year.

I don't know what to expect, if you have docus on Legends like Rindt, Stewart, Fittipaldi, Peterson, Lauda, Nilsson, Hunt and... weeeeeell, I've followed F1 since 1973 (Kiss and Formula One-drivers was my childhood heroes), so I might be a little old-school too - but I love my boys (and Lella Lombardi, Maria Velotta, Lewis Hamilton and the other girls in the sport) so I'll absolutely settle for modern day drivers ✌️

In Poland Kubica is a kind of a meme, bot not mocking him. It's more that we realise that we could've done a lot more, but he was just unlucky so many time, like you said. But after all, he's still the only Polish driver in F1 and, probably for years from now on, the only GP winner in our history and that makes him a legend. This single win gave him the Best Sportsman of 2008 title in Poland which is a little bit controversial cause he's beaten Olympic champions from Beijing to it... but we have a lot of Olympics champions, and only one Robert Kubica. :)
