  • It's always a treat whenever Diana Ross returns to her roots to reflect on how it used to be. As we know, along with Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard and Cindy Birdsong, the Supremes of the 60's were nearly undefeatable on the charts. They went head-to-head with The Beatles, who are considered the best pop band of all time. The Supremes had twelve #1 hits in the U.S.A., amazingly, this song, "Reflections," is not among them (two weeks at #2). It was kept out of the top spot in the summer of 1967, by Bobby Gentry, whose "Ode to Billy Joe" was a phenomenon. It was nominated for eight Grammy awards (winning three) and spawned a 1976 movie of the same name that starred movie heartthrob, Robby Benson. Ironically, Diana Ross would record a composition Robby Benson co-wrote (with wife Karla DeVito), "Nobody Drives Me Crazy Like You Do" on her 1984 album, "Swept Away."
"Reflections," on the other hand, was the first Supremes record credited to "Diana Ross and the Supremes", and among their last hit singles to be written and produced by Holland-Dozier-Holland (H-D-H). Although the song was memorably used as the theme song for a hit TV show, "China Beach" (1988-1991), it was oddly forgotten during awards time in 1967/68, but it remains one of the enduring classic hits of the 60's.

I can't believe this woman will be 80 soon. She has gotten better than she has been in the past 2 years. I want to see her again.

Diana Ross gives a freshness and naturalness to her presentation, which is of a very young spirit, her concerts fill us with good energy, as well as her songs in general, for example her music in her voice goes with me in the car every morning . Thank you Diana for being among us like this.

UK fans were very lucky for this concert. All of the clips I've seen show Diana in excellent voice. The sound is in check. Very often, it's too loud and Diana can't hear herself, resulting in poor singing or not being able to hear her at all. She's great here.
