I don't know anyone with two contra-alto clarinets myself, but one low C bass and one contra-alto would be reasonable to ask for. It looked like the upper part never went below concert C below the bass clef, so no fear of awkward thumb passages in the bass clarinet. (The only thumb key needed would be D, to produce concert C.)
I actually do know someone with THREE contra alto clarinets, haha! I originally wrote the upper part for cello (I've adapted both parts for a variety of different instruments) so a low C is the lowest note. It does lay very well on a bass clarinet, and I've made two versions - one that goes to a low C, and the other that just goes to a low Eb. Thanks!
