Bought this item on Sendico - bit.ly/2V6IX2u - had never seen it before and couldnt find any information on it anywhere! Its a fairly decent little thing, I would happily pay more if they just improved the quality in all areas by 25%.

Fifth is the new first.
But what about the first reply?
The Retro Future first
Second is the new fourth, third is the new second, fourth is the new fifth and that's right on out.
4th on this is the new first
And I’m the fifth reply.
Finally I can watch my horribly compressed Shrek GBA movie on my TV!
I wonder if it’s blocked on this like it is on official products?
In all its sub-144p glory!
Horizon and I can watch my spongebob too!!
AMAZENG
Use the Shrek+SharkTale cartridge! It has a worse framerates and lower video quality.
"It clearly looks like an oversized GBA cartridge"
2 moths later: *I made the GBA oversized for no reason.*
Imagine a massive GBA 3x bigger than usual but the screen remains the same small size
Imagine a video game console that PLAYS smaller sized video game consoles ❗🦏
@@VideoMajima That would be roughly the size of a Switch, which seems hilarious to me. But we have to go deeper: Give it a GB Micro screen. :D
How long will it take to eliminate two MOTHS
@@VideoMajima You mean like... the Game Gear :v ?
Nothing says fun for the whole family quite like ROAD CONSTRUCTION.
Hahahahah
yes!!!!
I consider it family fun for all
@@iceg6621 WhAt about THe HAmSTEr?
By whole family, I can only assume you mean an orphan and his deceased relatives
I’m disappointed it didn’t have a giant tri-wing screw holding everything together.
Kinda funny how it's basically built on top of a bootleg Plug n Play but still manages to be a good GBA player
NOPE.
I aint laughing AT ALL.
NOTHIN'
"In what scenario would you need to be this close?"
That's how close we sat in the 80s, fam.
You'll go blind sitting that close is one I heard on the daily
I laughed as well :)
You can try running the AGS Aging Cartridge on it to see how it turns out. It's an official Nintendo cartridge that was used to test GBAs, and all emulator and hardware clones fail at least one of the tests it performs.
Dragoonglue ooh cool! I totally need to get one and TRF as well
Whoa never heard of that! Let's now try to find the ROM and see if it works on an EZ-Flash IV MicroSD
EDIT: tested, it works flawlessly on an original AGS-001 with the EZ-Flash IV.
It would be beautiful to know if it is hardware emulation.
If it manages to play "Payback", it most likely is.
I've yet to find a non soc gba knockoff that could handle it.
interesting
Someone should design a sticker so it looks even more like a gba cartridge.
JoeDangIt on it
I would like but its at 69

How's it look on a crt
That's not bad for a composite picture
I think it would look great on a crt or pvm if it looks that good on a lcd
time to RGB mod this thing :P
I'm playing GBA with the Nicofami and a cartridge adapter on a CRT TV and composite cables. It's pretty decent.
@@leonidas14775 Lol, my thoughts as soon as I saw the RCA ports! :)
I still have my GBA player for my Gamecube, but this is an interesting item.
Me too...with a Carby HDMI adapter. This thing only has composite which I can't use anyway...I can't use any analog audio or video sources with my setup.
@CATS Actually, with an HDMI adapter, it is *extremely* clear.
Use the gc with hdmi out and you have a similar picture to gba consolizer and not this crap output
@@StormsparkPegasus it doesnt change because the hdmi adapter gets only composite signal
@@-Gothicgirl- I dunno...I've been playing my Gameboy Player on a 1080p monitor, and I am not seeing *any* composite artifacting. I'm pretty sure that it's not using composite internally.
You should find a maker to build a gaming unit with a tv built in to place this "cartridge" in. YES build a giant Gameboy Advance game for this thing.
In fact find another to print an older "Cartridge" and import the hardware to build a giant Gameboy with a built in tv game unit!!!
Here's a tip
In Mario Kart 64 and Super Circuit, if you slip on a banana peel or a puddle/oil slick whatever and you do that little wobble back and forth before spinning out, you can let go of A and tap B to cancel it. You'll see a little music note pop over your head if you do it
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT THAT WAS A SUPER SECRET TECHNIQUE FOR REAL GAMERS ONLY AND HERE YOU ARE JUST POSTING IT TO THE OPEN INTERNET FOR EVERYONE TO LOOK AT WITH DIRTY EYES AND ABSORB INTO THEIR UNCLEAN TAINTED BRAINS. I HOPE YOU'RE PROUD OF WHAT YOU'VE DONE.
Wow
did not know that
Edit: Also interested to see how this will look with my retrotink 5x pro, especially with how decent it looks on your TV with the rca cables/composite.
Ah man thanks for this video. I happened upon one of these being sold new and complete in box like yours. When I realized how bizarre it was and that it's a challenge to find, I grabbed it. The seller listed it for $56 CAD which wasn't too bad. Was sold on a japanese marketplace so had to use a proxy service to get it shipped. Excited to test this out just for how unique it is, and that it looks like a GBA cartridge itself.
How did it look with the retrotink?
Actually really cool, if this can be tracked down imagine how much you'll save vs a consolizer kit
This honestly looks pretty cool. If I somehow found it out and about for around 40 to 60 dollars I'd probably pick it up, even if the picture isn't exactly the clearest it's still awesome to have an affordable way to play GBA cartridges on a TV.
I have watched every single video since I stumbled across your channel. Your videos have really sparked my interest, once more, in collecting retro systems and games. Love the things you show on your channel and can’t wait for the next one!
When you connect this to the TV tuner. I can finally play my gameboy on the go.
Underrated comment, lmao
You should try connecting it to a retrotink 2x first and then to your HDTV to see how it looks quality-wise. Perhaps also test the lag with a time sleuth. Then we could get a true sense of the quality of the product.
The controller appears to be from an identical mold when compared to the pack-in controllers with the Gamerztek HD2 (SNES/NES clone console). They are indeed pretty nice controllers all considering.
This just may be one of the coolest devices you’ve featured yet!! Very, VERY sweet find!!! Thanks man!
Your one of my favorite TH-camrs and help me with trying to fix stuff myself! Good work!
I need a gif of that "WRONG" plane!
Finally the real HD experience in my tv😎
so, usually those black blobs (usually called glob-tops afaik) on circuit boards are custom-fabbed ICs used for very specific purposes or cloning hardware on a tighttt budget. most likely, it actually is a cloned GBA under that glob of epoxy. also, those are literally bare IC dies, cemented to the PCB, gold bonded to pads on the PCB, and covered in epoxy. it's a very clever way to do something as efficiently and cheaply as possible.
I love these goofy things you find like this and thank you very much for showing us
3:30 HAHAHA I laugh very loud when I notice it’s a giant GBA cartridge 😹😹
The fact it can play an Everdrive cart at all points to it being a hardware clone rather than software emulation 👌
This!
Exactly, all of the software emulation boxes dump the ROMS and you can not do that with an Everdrive, the fact that this plays the Everdrive means it has to be some form of hardware emulation
I don’t know what everdrive he’s using but mine won’t load any type of rom I’ve tried every kind of trick that’s bigger than 100kb and I’ve got an everdrive gba x5 and an easy flash omega which won’t even load so if like to know what and how he’s doing that.
This little system is pretty cool. I'd love to someday get one. Great video Elliot!
Shane from Rerez needs to go through the built-in 88 games, because we all like to see him suffer!
If they raised the quality and had an HDMI output with some good upscaling I would gladly pay 100$ for this. It's not native hardware but it's way cheaper than the GBA consolizer.
If you can't get hold of a GB player for the GameCube, this looks rather nice.
They are too expensive now and bulky. Another good way is a ps mini classic that’s hacked. It has gba app and runs perfectly
I think i'm in love with that product ...
Thanks for the great video !

make a DIY raspberry pi Gameboy Advance SP with 2 screens
I picked one up and it looks really good on a CRT. I have noticed a few graphic issues on some games but it is nice for what it is.
This will look great on a crt television. I’m going to pick one up. Thanks for the info!
I was somewhat regretting spending £200+ on my Game Boy Advance Consolizer when I saw this, but then realised it's not HDMI and doesn't play GBC/GB. And I guess its got the same chips as all the other GBA clones. Phew.
Did you ever get the one that slots in the SNES cart port? That is also impossible to buy anywhere in the west now.
I wasn't aware there was a GBA to SNES cartridge adapter. Are you talking about the Wide Boy? The N64 GBA cartridge adapter or the Super Boy which is only a GB to SNES adapter or is there one I'm not aware of?
Personally I'd rather use the money on a gamecube HDMI adapter, a SNES to GC controller adapter, and maybe an xeno chip or even just a softmod to run GBI. Not as specialized but possibly cheaper and with the added bonus of getting better looking gamecube games as well
@@ShamanNaoYuki they're talking about the retro bit super retro advance, another clone device that isn't really useful unless you have the retro duo portable because you still need a separate AV cable for it.
Definitely system on a chip. The chip in question is under that black blob of, I'm guessing, epoxy.
Oof, that paisley telecaster is so so beautiful. Didn't realise you were a guitarist!
Edit: Just finished the video. Love the little change in tone on this video - really funny at times. Top job!
Man this is really cool. And almost impossible to find. Thanks for showing me this, now I gotta spend endless hours finding it haha.
I find this kind of neat, but I find no need to spend 30 dollars or more on something I will only use a few times because in my opinion it feels better to use the system it was intended to be used on rather than playing them on a snes controller on the tv
I don't think my mom would be thrilled to hear me say I'm gonna play with my homeboy
why
I was thinking I remember seeing a video about this product before, then you showed the description of gojigoji's video on it and now I remembered where I saw it
Learning how to play guitar. Love it and so original.
a famiclone... inside a game boy advance?
Those nes-on-a-chip blobs must be so cheap they basically had to add one instead of making it like GB Boy Colour did and soldering in a bootleg cart. Which they did anyway but it's two systems in one now.
This is pretty legit, of i didn't have my overpriced GBA Player and Raphnet SNES to GC adaptor id prolly track one down.... who am i kidding ill still prolly track one down
astro boy omega factor was my favorite childhood game and the music is sooo good 😍
I use my retron 5 for Gameboy and Gameboy advance games. I love it.
No way, Game Boy Advance games on a TV!? That's never been done before!
Edit: Do you know when this came out, actually? Is it a recent thing or was it released back when the GBA was still being sold by Nintendo?
Yet another edit: I assume it's more recent as you brought up the HDMI adapter
Wow!
You can play GBA games on a TV with an official adapter thingy for the game cube.
I don't know if the first part is a joke or not. But there's already multiple ways to play GBA games on a tv
The GameCube had a Game Boy Player attachment.
@@Takomaster87 She's clearly being sarcastic about it never having been done before
First! - Thanks for 2 months of skillshare.
yup thx for mine too
I remember the snes cartridge my grandmother had that did the same thing pretty much. Blank cart with a gb/gba slot that let you play your games through your snes
That is super cool, I want 1. It kind of looks like the consolised GBA thing on "my life in gaming".
Nobody.
Screwdriver. mmmmREEEEEEEEE
Im not first at least im not stupid and bad
So i will thank you for see this comment and be good guy
aww thx 😁😁
originally it was available at Don Quijote, which is a popular chain of shops in japan, which carry practically everything.
The Japanese description you translated said it was bought at a store called Don Quixote, which is a Japanese chain store that sells a very eclectic range of items, from clothes to games to food items.
Nice paisley. Interesting technique.
Hey mate, great video and a cool product! Just want to let you know that "AV" just stands for Audio/Video. The image signal being sent on that yellow RCA plug is called "Composite".
In fairness, on a TV you usually have to select "AV" as the input mode to use composite (as indeed you correctly call it) or SCART. When I used to work in an electronics retailer, I often had to refer to composite as "red, white and yellow" to break the jargon barrier to the technophobic public.
You gotta admit, these guys nailed the name on this product.
Love your vids.
nice little console, the inside is what I see a lot on all those plug and play TV consoles from the east.
that chip near to the USB is the rom, the games are stored on there (is my guess, it looks like one)
You should do more stuff on Walkmans idk .awesome vid man
This made my day
This looks awesome, I hope the later variations come with an EXT port for multi player since the Super Retro Advance Adapter for the Super Famicom/SNES is not being made anymore.
Think about it, some Game Boy Advance games take advantage of the EXT port and should have multi player supported, but other than that, this looks like a great alternative to the Game Boy Player and the Super Retro Advance adapter.
Analogue products are FPGA-based consoles that are near perfect recreations of the original hardware which eliminates things like input lag entirely. Based on the inside I would say it is a system on a chip so you are dealing with something closer to software emulation. Still really cool at that price point. :)
It's cool. Might try to look for one ... one day
Great Game Boy Advance console. Best recording from VHS to DVD programme recording video is a great option.
The big chip on the video out/power board looks like a flash memory chip, presumably where the built in games are stored, along with where your cart ports would be stored. I find it strange that they would put that on a separate daughter board connected with a ribbon cable like that, vs even a breakout board, but i guess if you have the spare real estate and your only transmitting a few KB of data at a time, it works.
Got this today Love it! Works well for the price paid $ 79.00 US.
Did some research and it looks like these must be exclusively sold in-stores in Japan. I've found a number of Sold listings for it on Mercari, and a number of Japanese forum and social media posts talking about it.
I also found some Brazilian results too, which doesn't surprise me given the massive bootleg market there. Surprised I couldn't find one on Alibaba or AliExpress.
5:45 When you see yourself wobble after slipping on puddles, oil or banana peels, stop and hold the B button until your character makes a "Pwew" sound, indicated by a sound note in a speech bubble.
You will lose speed, sure, but not as much as when you normally slip on obstacles. This may not work on other traps.
Hey hey.
This was, at some point, sold at a mall/Walmart-y kind of store in Japan called Don Quijote. Right now, the only place I'm seeing these pop up is on Mercari, the Japanese equivalent of Craigslist.
Their inventory seems to be whatever they can get their hands on, at least when it comes to niche electronics like this, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got a limited number and once they were out, they were out.
I currently live in Japan and actually found quite a few of these on local shopping site lmao
Hey Elliot, here's a suggestion. Get the data sheet for the integrated circuit and find out if it outputs anything other than composite. Find the RGB signal if it exists and mod the output and sync so you can connect to your TV via scart. You've got the soldering skills, all you need is some resistor and capacitors and you're good to go. Now there's a video befitting of your channel.
I like your idea here!
There is something like this in development by Hyperkin called RetroN JR. it claims to be able to play both GBC and GBA in 720p, it might be something to look out for
Black blob indicates SoC. Hot glue is often used as strain relief, doesn’t automatically mean cheap products though
tips for smc: try releasing accelerate or braking in curves for sharper turns

Looks cool!! Someone needs to figure out how to add HDMI or RGB.. Love to get my hands on one!
I started using sendico today and honestly im overwhelmed
This is a awesome stuff!
I think it's rather cool, one_thing I'd like to point out is the 'speed_area' of the machine itself. but other than an exciting list of games, the some_excitment, is for those moments when your just discovering a train-track(1) for the first-time, although that could give you loads of stuff to do during the weekend
