Windows xp media center was my main operating system from like 2005 until 2010. I bought a new Dell computer just to gain access to the Windows media center software. I love the default theme. Over all it just works, was far more stable then Windows xp (no service pack)
Introducing Microsoft Window 12 Starter Edition. Now limited to one window. Also check out the all new Microsoft Widow where you can’t have child windows.
They limited the system resources because starter edition had a cheaper licensing cost. If you wanted all the features, you’d have to buy the more expensive standard XP home edition.
They limited it for profit generating reasons, and it's stripped down. It's not intended for powerful computers. Heck they might even disabled multiprocessing on this version. It was targeted and priced for low end computing.
Hi, great video I knew some exchange students back in the day, some had this starter with there native language - they relied on email and word for most things The other students who were "rich" has laptops, but they all had one thing in common, they all had the same pirated university copy of windows XP or 7 and office and other software - it was a educational keyed installation and at one stage had over 30,000 active / simultaneous sessions - but because the key was legit to that countries government education - they did not block it At the same time, i had 2 children in school, and they bought home in voucher for the school version / educational discount - i did purchase 2 copies of the educational version - i think it cost me the equivalent of 1 hours salary for each license - only ever install one version for my son as the older PC was not up to spec - it is still in the cupboard all these years later with the 2003 office that was given to me but keys printed on the jacket dont work
First time vodeo of yours to me. Really likiing what I have seen so far. Reminds me of Michael MJD's channel (if thats an OK thing to say!) Non judgemental, interesting information, and very entertaining to watch. Looking forward to binge watching your other videos. Thank you,
I'm glad you enjoy my content. I really love MJD's channel and I do get alot of inspiration for these windows videos from watching his videos so being compared to him is a huge complement. Thanks!!
But funnily enough, Windows XP Starter Edition is much more akin to Windows 7 Home Basic, which was also exclusive to developing markets, than Windows 7 Starter Edition. Windows 7 Starter was for netbooks.
Yes, we did. Those were pretty common in developed Europe on low-cost laptops and netbooks. However I hadn't seen XP starter (neither did I know it existed).
The computers that Xapple and Quadryllion sells currently that ship with XP only come with 64 bit professional because of 2024s demands (Vista and 7 are also available)
I don't geek out much anymore but XP Starter Edition would drive me nuts LOL. I have a Lenovo M92 from 2012 with a 3rd Gen Core i5 that's running XP Professional X64 that I got from the Internet Archive. It's a slipstream build with pretty much every update and service pack built in. 900MB so I burned it to DVD. I found all the drivers and software for printer, scanner and video. None of my WiFi dongles were supported so I bought a WiFi card from Amazon that's new, but very old tech. It has drivers for XP to Windows 10 on a CD. Imagine getting a CD driver disc, eh? With an early SSD, 24GB of RAM and Superium, it's something I can play with or actually get things done with it. But I have a PC for all the software I like, and well, XP shouldn't really be on the Internet so it's just a toy. I'm not a gamer but I installed Wheel of Time (1999) just to see if it would.
@@Canleaf08 I know that already, I have a Windows 7 Starter netbook. Windows XP Starter Edition is more like Windows 7 Home Basic because they were both watered down versions of Windows exclusive to developing markets.
Just wondering what happened if you drag out one of the new tab in the supermium to create the new window while there is already 3 window opened. Will it creates fourth window or it would just fail?
@@AlexandruLipan in the sense that XP developed out of Win2000, sure? But Starter Edition is still very much Windows XP, IE8 and Supermium running fine are evidence of that since neither run on Windows 2000. It didn't even launch until 2004.
A blessing for XP users, POSReady 2009 updates could be installed on XP with almost zero effort, so they could get updates all the way until 2019 when Microsoft finally ended support

I loved Windows XP Media Center Edition! I even bought a compatible TV tuner card to be able to use it with. I had a custom build PC.

Why would they limit the system specifications? Because wouldn’t most computers even in the developed world have wildly different system settings?
I think its because they only shipped this to specific OEM's and told them what to run it with

Never seen this version of XP! Fascinating!!
I build xp rigs for fun on my free time so I love seeing things on this I might try this on some old laptops

Did you know theres also a Windows vista starter edition and Windows 7 starter edition?
Yes I might make a video on those one day

fun fact, they also had a version of windows 8/8.1 that was a "starter" version, it's called Windows 8.1 With Bing

Ohh, Windows XP Starter Edition is like Windows 7 Home Basic.
Rather like 7 Starter. There was one for Netbooks.

Classic = Best theme
True
Windows 7 Aero Theme = best theme ever
(in my opinion)
High Contrast = Best theme
God I wish the watercolor theme from the xp prototype made it to the final, its the best of classic and luna at the same time
iirc I had to install a few builds of VLC prior to what you downloaded to get it installed on windows xp
I like this version, so much junk missing.
Just wondering what happened if you drag out one of the new tab in the supermium to create the new window while there is already 3 window opened. Will it creates fourth window or it would just fail?
I think it will just fail
I think it limits to 3 programs with windows, but if one program has two windows, it still only counts as one
I forgot what was edition of Windows XP I use. Perhaps Home edition. Sorry, I just completely forgot 😅
It didn't have 3D Pinball, despite it being in the games menu?!
I honestly frogot it was even there I recorded those pieces weeks apart
It's Windows 2000 with a Bloated Interdace
Came on EVERY WalMart Compaq
More precisely, a _modified_ Win2000 that was able to run XP drivers
I mean that's basically every edition of Windows XP tbh

No Walmart compaq computers came with XP Home/Pro. At least the ones I seen.
😂Damn that was stingy of them taking away the themes
Great video
It was on so many cheap netbooks!
No, Netbooks came with Windows XP Home Edition.
