    Welcome to Sensible Secondhand Reviews, the series where we usually take a sensible secondhand car worth between £1000 and £5000 and put it through its paces in a very straightforward manner! This time, however, we test a 2016 Skoda Octavia Mark III Estate 1.0 TSI SE DSG, which is just about as sensible as it can possibly get.
    Be prepared for discussion of the 1.0 and 1.2 TSI Volkswagen Group engines (yet again), a very nice boot liner, an interior light still covered in plastic film, the requisite Skoda ice scraper and very little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then!

    Sir, I have just agreed to purchase an Octavia 1 litre petrol (obviously) DSG hatch thanks in large part to your recommendation in this video. Thank you for your detailed and very helpful review.

    Good Afternoon Sir, my wife has a 2019 Skoda Octavia „Laurin & Klement Edition“ company car. We have driven all over Europe in it and will be sorry to see it go this year.

      Sir, I hope that we can discuss said "Laurin and Klement" Octavia, as those are most agreeable vehicles with a petrol engine!

    I have a new 2023 Fabia in this colour, (race blue metallic)
    Mine is an SE comfort model, for an entry level spec, I do find it to be very well equipped, lane assist, auto lights etc.
    Being a Škoda enthusiast, I am biased, but I do believe they are a great value for money brand.
    I haven’t had an Octavia, (too large for my needs), but if I needed a larger car it would be my first choice, this one is a great example ❤.

      In 2022, I filmed a review of the newest shape Fabia, which also had this engine and gearbox, at the famous Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire. It was a Colour Edition in Race Blue, I believe. The biggest problem with modern Skodas (I have just driven a 2023 Karoq Sportline as well) is not the design, comfort or the way they drive, it's that so many things that I would expect to be standard are options, which means that the price of the car seems very competitive, until you look closely and realise that a lot of things are missing compared with many rivals. The Fabia I actually drove did very well on the demanding Alpine Circuit at Millbrook, though, which I found to be very impressive.

    Very good review Sir, Thankyou for sharing. Very practical comfortable car, in very nice condition. I prefer this shape over the new model, but I am old fashioned

      Yes, a lot of people prefer this design. I think it looks just fine, my favourite would be a dark green, of course. They are the definition of practicality!

    I have the lazy 1.6tdi DSG, very easy car to live with. I need all the space I can get so the estate is perfect. The engine is alright too. No tax to pay for mine, very reliable over the last 4 years so can't complain. Something to add, doesnt feel as big as it looks when driving it, I can still have some fun with it on the twisty roads.

      @paulie-Gualtieri. ปีที่แล้ว

      @Lloyd Vehicle Consulting
      It has to be the trim level one expects, with all the optional extras too. I've seen L&K Superbs without such things as keyless entry and Ignition and electric tailgate on the estate. The oddly placed cooled seat switch on the bottom of the seats is also strange on the MK2, would have been more appropriate to have them by the gear shifter, even with all six buttons filled, there are two unexpected blanks at the bottom, which were never used for anything to my knowledge.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paulie-Gualtieri. , a lot of the time with Skodas, judicious use of the options list is needed, which can be quite annoying, even with the Laurin and Klement trim!

    The definition of common sense motoring ! Perhaps not as good as previous Octavias that were over engineered to overcome Skoda s previous reputation.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  ปีที่แล้ว

      There's not really a lot to say about something like this, as it makes so much rational sense, and has everything that you would need in a car and not much that you would not!
