LPL is like a neural network, picking apart every single lock and learning from it... ...All with the ultimate goal to create the ultimate lock that has no flaws. And then he'll be unstoppable. Locking everything and everyone.
You can work it out if understand how the pick works: apply tension to the first disc, rotate every other disc until you feel it fall into a gate, tension on one of the other discs and pick the first disc. Without the pick you might be able to do it with a vice but it would not be easy or practical.
You still need somewhat specialized tools - but nowhere that advanced. A prong-style tensioner (like tweezers with angled tips, you can make one off a wiper insert by folding it in half) and a dimple lock pick (again, not a very hard to make out of sufficiently stiff wire). And of course it's going to be considerably more difficult. Of course that will work with locks that can be tensioned off disk 1. Some are tensioned off the last disk, and a couple even off a random disk in the middle, and then you'd better have the actual disk detainer pick.
You can't pick this with pin cylinder lock-picks or wafer lock picks, because the disks rotate to different degrees and block the entry of a pick. However, there's always a 3-4mm holle/space down the centre which allows a circular shaft with a pick tip on the end to pass through. Now, that said, if this tensions from the front (and I suspect that it does), you could pick this with a modified cheap Chinese disk detainer pick. The modification needed is the part that tensions the first disk needs to be ground a bit longer and the picking tip needs to be ground down a lot thinner). You can now get a cheap beginners kit with two picks (front disk tensioning and rear actuator tensioning) together with a perspex lock, to give you an idea of how the process works. Most cheap pound/dollar stores sell the cheap Chinese low security 25mm disk detainer padlocks that are a good start to learn how to pick a real lock. ...however, if this lock tensions from a random disk then the cheap Chinese picks won't work. Hello, LockPickingLawyer! I have question. I was watching Detective Conan, ep 176, and after about 7 minutes, a black Porsche 356A is shown. Conan later picks open this car's lock with a bent metal clothes hanger. Is this possible, or was it just for the sake of the story?
My old Mazda truck had a linkage arm to the inside lock release. I could slide the coat hanger in between the window and outside rubber seal and push the linkage arm down and unlock the door fairly easy. I didn't need the fancy slim Jim tool.
I went and checked the clip in question. He doesn't pick the lock, he opens the door by using the hanger to reach in and move aside the locking mechanism I think. I've seen videos about it in real life as well, so it is definitely possible but might not be as quick and easy as shown in the episode.
depending on the car, the lock can be bypassed rather quickly with a clothes hanger if you have the skill. its not so much picking as it is skipping the lock

"Not particularly hard to open"= mostly un-pickable for the average lock picker?
Hey, LPL a thumbs up today just because you give us something every day! I know so many of us appreciate your dedication.
I dont even lock anything anymore because of LPL
Justin D 😂
Dude, when LPL says that it requires specialist tools and skills, your things will be fine.
Remember, LPL is a very experienced and skilled lock pick with all the tools he needs and the ability to design and create tools he doesn't have.
Even if LPL can pick a lock in 5 seconds, it'll take some rando way longer!
@@tigershark2328 To add onto this, petty thieves and such go for the easiest method available if their goal is to just steal whatever they can. Something as simple as a lock, regardless of difficulty of picking, should act as enough of a deterrent because why waste even 30 seconds picking a lock when you can waste no time at all opening something that isn't locked in the first place.
If we live in a simulation, this guy certainly has the cheat codes.
Lets be honest you waited for him to say "The pick Bosnian Bill and I made"
Imagine a cop showing up at his house, seeing a bunch of locks, specialized lock pickers, pliers, and a hacksaw.
"Okay folks, as you saw it isn't that hard to open"
Me: doens't know how to use scissors
...or how to spell "doesn't"
I'd say this is a good buy. Not easily cut through, and I'm not even sure if it's possible to covertly cut through. Furthermore, the pick used was custom made by an expert, not commercially available or able to be designed by a layman. And even with that specially designed pick, it took LPL much longer than it usually takes him.
"The thickest cable I ever tested"
Should have saved it for april fools buddy
Yeah there were a number of interesting lines in this vid
You can tell hes practiced a lot on this one, since the dust cover has a mark from all the times he forcefully inserted the shaft of his pick that Bosnian Bill and he made
*busts out a custom-made pick and takes over a minute to open*
“As you can see it’s not hard to open”
*_B R U H_*
That would make a pretty nice weapon. Just open it and swing away.
U-Locks are pretty good for this purpose - they are heavy enough to be used as weapons if you swing them around
This video fails the principles of Chekhov's Gun, mentioned using wire cutters of different sizes, hack saws and angle grinders but never actually attempted to use them.
Chekhov's Gun .. today I learned. thanks!
I was hoping for a destructive attack. Now that it's picked, let's put to various physical attacks!
But they didn't make their appearance on stage. I don't think "mention" in a video is enough.
The principle of Chekhov's Gun fails the principle of IDGAF tho. He's the Lockpicking Lawyer not the Destructive Attack Lawyer. Go to Bosnian Bill's channel if you want destructive attacks. LPL is just pointing out facts that are important to the overall security but things his channel does not typically focus on unless he's super bored.
This way he can return the lock.
The magic words were spoken. All hail T.P.T.B.B.A.I.M.
Hello, LockPickingLawyer! I have question. I was watching Detective Conan, ep 176, and after about 7 minutes, a black Porsche 356A is shown. Conan later picks open this car's lock with a bent metal clothes hanger. Is this possible, or was it just for the sake of the story?
using just a bent wire won't work without a tension wrench of sometype ... bent wire in general makes very poor lock picks.
For accuracy LPL needs to test this while transformed into a toddler
This looks like it could be a good motorcycle lock because you need a special tool that most would not have. Thanks I will buy one
omg it almost reached the 3 minute mark
one advantage of a thick cable over a chain is that it doesn't rattle, which some people might prefer for a (motor)bike.
“Thickist cable”?? Yeah, I can spare 3 minutes...
Love your tutorials ❤️ I m an aspiring thief from India 🤗 Much love
is there anything secure on this channel, i am hostage in my own home can i lock anything that would not be opened in 60 seconds, or do i have to invent some of my own shit ?
Just weld your doors shut.
"Today I'm going to use the blowtorch that bosnian bill and I made"
Use a bank vault door
Keep in mind the LPL is literally an insane picker. Very, very few people have his skills; fewer can do it as fast as he does.
The best security is a decent police force and neighbours that know when (and ideally when not) to call the police. You can make stealing harder by using good locks and chains, but without any intervention, everything can be stolen. There is no total security when you are alone. That is why humans form societys. Individualism is a lie.
This is the longest running Anime
"Not particularly hard" with this specialty custom hand crafted tool that took TWO people to make...
Gotta love TH-cam. This video is 6 days old, and I JUST got the notification that it is up
I think we'll call that pick:
The Bosnian Cross
Reply with more names if you like, it may be better than the name I made
Kryptonite Marketing Manager: Quick! Re-Label the packaging to say, “Lockpicking Lawyer says It’s better than most! “
Ok NOBODY CARES if you're first or quick or fast, ok? thanks goodbye
We absolutely NEED a destructive test of this.
I’ve been watching this channel so long I sometimes kid myself into believe I could pick a lock open in an emergency. That said, I’d be SOL with a disk detainer lock without a pick designed by you and Bosnian Bill.
those words we had all been waiting for ... yeees!!!
After tens of video, I still don't know what gates or binding or nothing on 3 means. Yet I keep coming back for more.
Man, I'm glad we again get to see the pick you and Bosnian Bill made in action. I was almost afraid the pick you and Bosnian Bill made was gone from the channel. Can you tell I really like the pick you and Bosnian Bill made?
I think if LPL started making t-shirts with his various catch phrases on them he’d make a boat load of money.
It would be cool to see the internals of the cable itself, to see the cutting resistance compared to picking.
Had an abus lock a while back similar. Cenero or cetero lock. 970 was the model if I recall. Liked the lock.
You know it’s a good lock when LPL has to take out his crucible to get it open.
Lockpick lawyer: it will require special tools and skills
Lockpick lawyer after 2 seconds: here we go, the lock is open.
I wish I saw your videos earlier. Twice I have had to dismantle the bolts (it was old fashioned with bolts and padlocks) of my room door to get inside after a hard days work. I usually remembered that I had forgotten the keys inside while on the job, so I could just borrow the screwdrivers from my workplace...
please NEVER stop making videos
This man has to be on some watch lists
LPL: "I will now bestow upon you the my highest honor: *Not particularly hard to pick*"
Just found these channel. reminds me of when you'd open up skyrim master locks lol
Hey, at least we learned that it's not the size that matters!
I wanted to see him try and cut through it but I knew he kept it in the packaging to return it after making the video.
dayum boy that's a thick kryptonite lock
Heehee is a BIG boi!! 😮😮😮
