I’m a descendent of the Cherokee Nation as well as a descendent of my ancestors from England and I have yet to attend a powwow or visit Big Ben! LOL! Thank you so much for bringing us the joys of your adventures. I get a kick out of watching you both and feel as though I’m tagging along side of you. You are both truly an inspiration to all of your followers. Can’t wait for the next video!
Thank you so much Richard - it was a pleasure and privilege for us to share these adventures and we are delighted you are on this journey with us - Kind regards Marianne and Chris 🌺.
The mural being painted with the red painted handprint over the mouth is a symbol of the movement to combat the kidnapping of indigenous women. Powerful stuff!
Glad you liked the pow wow. I've been to pow wows in Arizona , but nothing as big as this. Yes, Trudy looks like an ice cream van. You should put a big sign in your window , " Sorry, this is not an ice cream van". haha.
Doctor doctor what’s wrong with me? One day I feel like a wigwam, the next day I feel like a teepee . Doctor says don’t worry your just feeling too tense 😂 great video really enjoying your US adventures 👍
I went to a powwow in Indiana. Was honored to dance the friendship dance with all. My friend who was Cherokee had just passed away,so it had a very special meaning to me. So glad you got to experience the love they share at the Powwow's.
What an emotional day! One can see on the performers' faces the pride & passion, and see the time, intent & craftsmanship that goes into the regalia & performances. Your video was moving to watch, to be there in person must have been very powerful. Amazing. Also, Mrs. P. and I are very happy to see you got to experience frybread. 😉🤤 ❤️❤️😎👍xx
Awwh Thanks yes ... it was fabulous - I have direct messaged you - we have a plan to organise a meet up next to a Turkish owned RV that is for sale 😉😉 wink wink - top secret - don't tell anyone - just check your facebook messages xx
missed this last week; wow, wow, wow for the pow wow. Great vlog guys keep up the good work. An emergency repair for your specs, use a cocktail stick, it does work until you can get them repaired. Love Eric
Flew down with my family many years ago. So many native people just cried my eyes out at grand entry. My people are from esketemc in bc Canada. So wonderful to have been a part of something so powerful and so beautiful.
Fried bread is one of the things the indigenous folks survived on after being forced off to the reservations. It was a survival tool and a symbol of their oppression (bc it was made from the only things they were rationed like flour and oil), but now is gaining new life as a festival food. I don't have much indigenous blood, but the fact that fried bread is now becoming a byproduct of celebration is making me emotional! Love this video!
Thanks for sharing such a delightful experience. I love cultural events. I heard that the fried bread recipe is special, so it’s given out only on a knead to know basis 😆
That was truly incredible!!! I just love the sound of the drums and singing, and the sight of all the different ceremonial dresses and dances brought tears to my eyes. Thankyou for such a beautiful video xx
Those teepees are close to real. Real teepees they used lodge pole pine trees as the sticks to hold up the teepee or lodge. They would start at the bottom and put a layer of bison skins around it and the do a shingle effect if the skins to the top over lapping the sides to shed water. Some native living areas/ encampments were like are cities today. They would stretch for miles. Great video! Looks like you really enjoyed it.
Another great video- wonderful to see the passion and pride in their music and performance and the inclusiveness of everyone. Felt emotional watching this and I can imagine it must have been amazing atmosphere xxx thanks for showing this xxxx
This was amazing! Yes emotional too! American history began here! The nations beating the drum united is a valuable demonstration of what can be achieved if one allows space for diversity! There is room for us all! Thank you for sharing! 🤙
Hello Ambassadors Keep it coming guys! Quite an experience we had with you. I have seen this POW WOW gathering the nations in the past once from videos, but now you guys added your own experiences in the video, your comments etc.., made a fantastic video. Thank you for taking us with you.❤️❤️👍👍🇹🇷🇹🇷 Love you guys!
Hi from Australia Marianne and Chris! I know you must read it all the time in comments but... Thank you for sharing your travels - I enjoy your adventures so much!; loving seeing the American countryside through your eyes; the ups and the occasional not so up (Saint Christopher is definitely looking after you :-), so glad you were able to find a place to rest. Best wishes.
Oh my great video - as usual. If you’re still in NM please don’t miss Carlsbad Caverns, it’s SPECTACULAR! I believe it has the largest Big Room in North America, just beautiful. Y’all are so much fun, can’t wait for next video. Blessings
Absolutely awesome experience for you and for us. 👍 im so enjoying your vids. Coming from Australia where we wear hats in the sun, I watch you guys, especially Maryanne, with fair English skin and wonder why you don't wear a hat in the Sun
I am so glad you were able to experience the Native American Pow Wow. In June Oklahoma City, Oklahoma hosts the "Red Earth" Festival, which is the largest gathering of American/Canadian Native American Tribes, if you are in the area. Oklahoma City also has the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, with collections of Remington, Russell paintings and sculptures. Hope you are able to see Santa Fe, New Mexico while you are there it is a must see!
Maryann, if you have the arm to your glasses, take them into any Walmart vision center, or any vision center and they will probably fix them for free!!👓
How beautiful!!! Now I have an excuse to visit New Mexico, again. Although is an spectacular part of the country, this makes it even more amazing. Thanks for sharing ❤
You reminded me, I've been meaning to find a fry bread recipe and try making it. I just looked one up and put it on file so now I can give it a try. I love going to these pow-wows. I like to get up close to the drum circles and feel that drumming go through your body. So good that these customs and tribal dances are kept alive and passed down to the kids. It's like in Hawaii and other places too, the passing down of the dance and the music and then sharing it with others and being able to see it as one travels the world. Glad you two were able to experience the Gathering of the Nations, I'll have to go one day too.
Benim gibi halâ kızılderili ve kovboy filmleri izleyen biri için bu video paha biçilmez bir video olmuş, Harikasınız Marianne ve Chris, bu video için teşekkürler sizlere.👋👋👋👋👋👋👋

What a wonderful experience! I, too, get quite emotional hearing the drums and singing, brings back precious memories of times when we lived in the States. It’s officially ‘fry bread’ 😋. You have had kombucha before…..i gave you some of my homemade pomegranate kombucha! It can certainly have a kick to it! ❤️

Hi Steven - we have realised how different American and English are - Potty, pants, restroom, biscuits, fanny, trunk ... just to mention a few - but I think it is evident from our videos that we are normal, respectful and simple people - it is important in life to accept that sometimes life can be confused by language differences - and unless intentional hatred or malice is intended, then we can be forgiven for that, this is one of our favourite things about travel - learning to be kinder and more understanding and that it is not all one way or another - I hope this clears up the language issue ...... Kind regards Marianne

They prefer to use the term "regalia", and not "costume".
It's a European thing. They use the word "costume" for a lot of things.
Edited for clarity
Costume is actually the accurate word. Regalia refers to royal ornaments.
