go watch Rudisha's record run. His form is absolutely effortless. A mastercalss in running. I realise its only 0.22 of a second, but in 800m terms, thats a lot
Apart from having God given talent, Wanyonyi has the competitive fire in him. He's not only fast but already has the race craft of a seasoned competitor. I hope this young talent also develop the maturity to handle success and not let money and fame ruin him.
Marco Arop let Emmanuel Wanyonyi through because he lost time by going wide around the pace-maker, so knew he couldn't break the World Record and instead granted that chance to Emmanuel Wanyonyi by letting him run on the inside. That's sportsmanship.
@@esauogutu1702by not making the guy behind you move outward around a bend to pass you (wider around the bend means further which means it takes more time). Allowing the pass on the inside means the other guy has to run a shorter distance to get to the finish which means he'll get there sooner. See how that works?
@@esauogutu1702 because if Arop had just held onto the rail, and that would have taken extra steps for Wanyonyi to get past him. Arop just blew his chance by going wide, but he didn't blow Wanyonyi's, so he just let him go inside.
So close to breaking 100.91 seconds. I respect Arop for showing sportsman gave way to wanyonyi as he cruised from the inside both of you guys may lead the 2 lap race into the unknown vicinity
Two tenths of a second away from the world record, and you're only 20 years old! He certainly hasn't got the long leg stride like Rudisha, but hey, youth and determination will win through.
I would like him to do it on a championship race like World Champs or Olympics where we have no pacers no greenlights like how David did it. These times where you have green lights and pacers i honestly guess if they were used during Rudhisha era when he was at peak he would have broken it multiple times
Congratulations 👏 wanyonyi, may God grant you more grace and humility, to continue inspiring the world with this talent.may God increase, as you decrease.
He has long legs, that's the reason. Tall runners can't run inner lane for the risk of being tripped. They also easily suffer injuries see what happened to Rudisha.
It's hard to make every race perfect people have no idea how fast these r running it's mind blowing second fastest time ever by Wanyonyi both him and Arop will break the world record a couple of times the way there running is godly
When Arop learns how to run the 800, he'll be on another level. Going around the pacemaker and allowing that inside cut tells me he's not perfected his race!!👍🏽
Geez the disrespect in the comment section to Arop . Dude just crushed your Kenyan boy Wanyonyi., in the next DL track meet . Both great runners , anyone can get the WR. Sheesh
1:03 was accidental and his fault, 1:17 was fully deliberate. He knew he didn’t have the legs in him after going wide previously and let Wanyonyi through on the inside to improve the Kenyan’s chances at the world record. It was class, that from Arop.
@@mdp8582 Well I think he wanted to run around the pacemaker on the curve as he didn’t expect the pacemaker to also run wide (trying to move out the way so the runners could pass on the inside) but unfortunately their timing was bad and both runners ran wide at the same time. However, I think he let Wanyonyi through intentionally, so as to give him the best chance at a world record.
almost like Arop slowed down slightly because he was trying to save his legs.. maybe worried he went out too hard. Then just midjudged it so badly and let Wanyonyi through
Me too... Am a Kenyan but thrice now he has let Wanyonyi win a race he was in command. Wanyonyi is a great one but, when you see even in the Olympics, he slowed down at the very last stage and Wanyonyi won.
pacer did a bad job here at the end of the first lap, not Arop. went out slightly too fast (that's ok), but then slowed down way too much, made a sign for Arop to come get him and pass him outside with his right hand, but then he didn't cut inside of the track at 400m and instead stayed on the track while slowing down and forced Arop way outside, messing up his race and his shot at a WR. Arop knew it was over and had the class to let Wangyoni have a shot at the WR by letting him pass inside. commentators are way off.
Arop somehow likes to race in lane 2 actually he didnt have to go wider he just had to let the pacer drop off he still had a chance on the WR why let Wanyonyi go he could even at least have gone for it and come closer to it
When Arop got past the pace maker he still had several meters ahead of Wanyonyi he could have still moved into the inner lane. The issue of him letting Wanyonyi have a shot at the world record is neither here or there.
Nope. Lead is irrelevant. His wind was gone. When you have to adapt your speed or stride at a high pace it is energy sapping. He knew he was done at 600m and decided to give Wanyoni a shot.
Arop was born in Sudan and moved to Canada as a toddler. Birth in Sudan and all his growing up and training through to adulthood in Canada. How that makes him Kenyan is beyond me.
CBC Sports is very biased... You want to tell me you didnt notice olympic Gold Medallist was also taking part.. You could only acknowledge the presence of the silver medalist..Glad your so called silver medalist couldnt get the Gold 😆
