Yep. This, and with In Living Color, with Jamie Fox’s depiction of a dark skinned black woman. So many people (black men, in particular) have come up on bashing black women, especially dark skinned black women, and it’s sad to see that it’s probably a big reason why the community still seems to hate them. It was reinforced in us as kids/young adults. Pam was beautiful and I kind of always hated that she played that part. Thank you for this video. It's as if you took a look in my mind and said how I have long thought about Tyler Perry and his vaudevillian minstrel plays & movies featuring a central character of some misogynoir's stereotyped negative image of elder Black women he calls, Madea. He's constantly creating movies for Generations that have since transitioned or are now elderly, while fails to read the room of many Gen Xers, but mostly young adult & adult Millennials - Gen Z who have stated they are not interested in his style of production, writing, and the material he puts out into the world. He'll learn.
TP can't create Soul Food, but his limitations have made him a billionaire who can create generations of Blk writers, producers, etc. But he wont invest in anything multi-faceted. Selfishly, TP has (& gets to be) the only Blk man in the industry with the resources and means to create various projects on a whim. All that power is wasted on him, b/c he's happy to profit off of Blk caricature(s), stigmas and the very worst aspects of us, rather than investing in future Blk talent that isn't stereotypical and that highlights the best of us.
A few of his movies including Why did I get married take inspiration from Soul Food. The Family That Preys was of a very good film. Absolutely love the story between Alice and Kathy Bates
Idk where this is going. But i WISH I had a louder voice cause he COULDN'T do for Colored Girls justice either. But somehow it's a thing that makes me cry.

on Martin, they talked about Gina’s features: - How big her head was - Talked about her light skin in a negative way as well. Sheneneh would call her Rudolph the red bone reindeer and say she’d disappear in a snow storm, and tell her to do “the light thing” and back up so she wouldn’t get beat up. And mama Payne what also talk about her light skin. - She was called Applehead, big face, and tight eyes with the big face And Tommy, Cole, and Jerome talked about how gorgeous Pam was. But I do agree that juxtaposing Pam with Gina didn’t look good. Pam was called out for having nappy hair in her kitchen a.k.a. Buck shots, or beedee bead. And she was portrayed as less refined than Gina in the workplace and sophisticated than up against Sheneneh. One more thing to point out is that Martin told Tisha Campbell back when they did the movie house party that one day he was going to have her play his woman. And it just so happened that he not only did he have great chemistry with Tichina Arnold in the audition, he found out that she and Tisha were friends so she put them in those roles.

Tyler PERRY is the slow Cousin at the cookout that keeps annoying is with the same art work 😢😂
Diary of a Mad Black Woman & Why Did I Get Married are still my favorite Tyler Perry movies to date. Dare I say that I think they're classics. In my opinion. Acrimony was one of the worst.
Definitely call outs for this film too but I feel like ‘Why Did I Get Married’ will forever be a classic to me
Thank you for this video.
Only been able to sit through one of his movies. And that was more than enough.
He bet not touch Soul Food
What are your thoughts on Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married films? Thays the closest to a Soul Food that he has gotten, no? 🤔
Why Did I Get Married 1-2 are probably classics imo. Still quoted to this day.
That book was foundational in my thinking. And when I heard he was gonna make a film of it, I cried. It wasn't his place. He not HIM on that level.
He doesnt have a blk classic film in him, because the ability is just not there
Good take on this!
Tyler Perry's tv show Ruthless is very good.

A family that preys, why did I get married, and jazzman’s blues were good to me.
A lot of his early films, plays, and shows were good to me,but lately, it lacks the quality that it use to have.
Tyler Perry is the Darius Crooks of the film world 😂
on Martin, they talked about Gina’s features:
- How big her head was
- Talked about her light skin in a negative way as well. Sheneneh would call her Rudolph the red bone reindeer and say she’d disappear in a snow storm, and tell her to do “the light thing” and back up so she wouldn’t get beat up. And mama Payne what also talk about her light skin.
- She was called Applehead, big face, and tight eyes with the big face
And Tommy, Cole, and Jerome talked about how gorgeous Pam was.
I agree with all the TP critiques, but I will say I believe Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Daddys Girls, The Family that Preys, and For Colored Girls are modern black must watch movies from him
Diary of a Mad Black woman is a classic. I can quote things from that movie.. I mean... "Christina's gone.." hits but the wig on Shamar moores head was ridiculous. But I agree that his recent work has been trash. It's like ever since he's gotten that studio everything has been subpar.
What books 📖 by black authors or about black experiences has he read to develop responsible and respectful narratives about us?
He need to LEAVE IT ALONE….. he has had too many raisins and apples in his potato salad and collard greens for it!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOO
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
KEEP HIM AWAY FROM THIS MOVIE AND THE TV SERIES!!!!!!
