I just think it’s amazing how vast space really is, and how small and minute our solar system is when compared to it. We’ve only scratched the surface of things to discover, but it seems like we’ve done so much already. There are so many plans and projects that are coming in the future, and I can only imagine what the outcome will be. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.

Not so surprising. Gravity operates up to infinite distances, so at every distance the only things that don't fall in the Sun or break free of the Sun will adopt the correct orbital speeds, after millions of years. The planets are nothing special, they are simply what's left. The Sun is not infinitely strong, things break free from it but we of course can't see them any more. Or, the objects go "A-ha!" and break free of the Sun, only to fall under the influence of another star.

I just realized that _every photon_ that lights up our day was, just 8 minutes earlier, floating about just under the surface of the sun.
5000° ...then traveling _at the speed of LIGHT_ ...to land delicately on some object on the Earth, along with untold billions of other photons, to give us a “Pretty decent weather we’re having, eh?” kind of day.

An interesting fact: in the Sun's core, the actual energy production is actually extremely low. Every cubic meter of the core only puts out a few hundred watts of continuous power. Roughly the same energy production by volume as 9 small burning candles in every cubic meter. It's only due to the core's total volume that this low output adds up. And when you consider this low output requires the incredible pressures, density, and temperatures of the core, it makes one realize why it's so incredibly difficult making a fusion reactor that produces meaningful levels of power.

You don't literally mean the world can't go outside, do you? Because I go outside all the time. So do a lot of people. Every time I go to the grocery store or Walmart or Hobby Lobby there's people everywhere. It's not only like that in the town I live in, it's the same in all the other towns I travel to. I've yet to go anywhere that has the military patrolling the streets making sure nobody sets foot outside. Or, is that what you meant?

Fusion is so slow and difficult that it takes the core of the sun to get it to work. Even with all the pressure, temperature and density of the core, there's still only a small amount of material fused per second per cubic metre.
