So I have tried this multiple times and cannot get it to place as a watermark, but rather just inserting as an image. :-( My whole point is to only have it on one page. I think there must be some setting elsewhere that allows this? Any ideas? We know how all these app folks make tweaks that screw things up, so it is entirely possible that since 2021 when you posted this that MS has made updates and this isn't the fix anymore. Sadly, no clue why saving a custom watermark requires so many steps, but again... app developers. :-( Anyway, if you happen to see this, try it out again and see what happens. Thanks!
@@nickinixon2125 Thank you for watching! I'm sorry the process isn't working for you. I just checked it on updated versions of Word for Microsoft 365 on a Windows 10 and a Windows 11 machine and it's still working on my end. I hope you are able to find a solution!
That has to be the most obscure implementation of any feature in Word. I wonder which of Microsoft's wonder children created these steps? Thank you so much!!!
You're a life saviour! There's absolutely no chance I was gonna guess this on my own. I don't even know what MSFT was thinking when they created this puzzle. Thank you!
Thank you! Right clicking on the Watermark thumbnail to add to pages individually is so simple, yet not at all obvious or intuitive. TIP if your Watermark is weird and small after you Insert at Current Position, click the watermark on the page and a box will appear that you can drag to resize/reposition and also edit the watermark.
Really VER VERY Thank you very much. The steps also work for WORD 2010. Just instead going to design tab go to page layout tab and proceed with the above video's step
Thank you for watching! To insert a watermark into a specific section, ensure the section breaks are in place, and then double-click in the header area of the section where you want the watermark. From the Header & Footer tab, deselect "Link to Previous." Then, switch to the Design tab and insert the watermark as you normally would. I wish you all the best with your project!
Thank you for watching! The easiest and most reliable way is to use the method shown in this tutorial. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of an easy way to choose specific pages. I wish you all the best with your Word document!

@@erinwrightwriting No, it's not. I just have to reduce the size of the image to be able to see the page number at the foot. I thought there was a way to set an order between the two elements rather than moving the watermark away from the page no.
