    this is the only review on the internet that doesn't throw high/ultra settings at AAA games and consequently cry for 20min about how this card is vram and bandwith limited... it's literally meant to be an worthy upgrade for the mass of gamers with low/mid tier gpus from 5+ years ago. bravo, excellent review.

Finally somebody thought of FSR, took into account the 4Gb and PCI-E limit, and understands that a large majority of the buyers doesn't care about HW encoding (as you can do that on CPU for the 1 or 2 times you do that). Some reviewers did not seem get this is a budget card (even if the price is a bit high for a budget card) I even saw reviews complaining you could not hook up 3 monitors to this card, as if you can afford 3 monitors when you're buying this card!? Go ahead and look for at 570 on Ebay, guess what it's way more than this card. It is there for a kid who wants to buy a PC to play with his friends but doesn't have $500 to buy a better GPU. It's gonna do about 60 fps at 1080p, that's what the card was built for and that's what it does.

    "If you play this game competitively, you should consider buying a stronger card"
    The reason this card exists right now is because cards are very difficult and expensive to come by. I'm sure some of the people who purchased this card on day one would rather have purchased a 6800XT or 3080, but can't find one, or they don't want to spend well over US$1000 to acquire one.
    I've seen and read a number of reviews that are just blind to the fact that these cards are only meant as an in-between, meaning they're largely marketed towards people who have everything else, and just need a GPU to get their system going... *or* someone who needs to replace a damaged and out-of-warranty card and just can't do it with the current market conditions. Reviewers and viewers alike should consider this.

    • @samgoff5289

      So your genius excuse for this piece of shit is that it's a hold over, inbetween card...people want 6800xt, so $650 msrp card but settle for this garbage for $250-300 and then buy another card in a year and you spent the same money as just getting a good card now...what a stupid idea

    • @dj4aces
      @dj4aces 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@samgoff5289 It's adorable that you think I'm making excuses. Simply adorable.
      People want 6800XTs and 3080s. People aren't gonna get them without dropping a down payment on a bloody car. So yes, this is absolutely an in-between. A card meant to get people's almost completed builds up and running after over a year of waiting.
      Take your malice and direct it to the companies themselves for not putting out more cards, for not ensuring they're priced reasonably. I'm not the one you're mad at, and you would do well to remember that. Not everyone is privileged enough to have $1300 just laying around waiting to be spent on a stupid expansion card.

    I think people have been overly critical of this card. Yes, it's probably the most underwhelming GPU that's been released in the last few years, but it also fills the RX 580 / GTX 1650 gap we've been seeing. People on a budget who don't want to buy a second hand card at least have a new option to pick from. My only gripe with this card is it should have been released with a bit more VRAM. RX 6500 would also have been a better name for it (leave out the XT), considering it doesn't outperform the RX 5500 XT.

    I'm not planning on buying this, but I'm surprised to see it not even being 200 Euro/USD at least for the first wave of the cards. It's understandable if the price would increase for later re-stocks, but at least the first wave should be MSRP.
    Edit: Where I've checked it's 300 Euro or more, just to make it clear. I did see someone mentioning it was available for 180 GBP in the UK before it sold out today, but I haven't seen the same in Europe yet.

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ASUS and GB both have indicated 300-350 euros for their card. 200 euros was never going to happen even with a 200$ MSRP pre-covid, 250 euros would probably have been a bare minimum (taxes, etc). So I'm not really surprised. Tbh even 300 sounds "good" to me right now; 1650 costs 350 or more, 1650 super isnt for sale anywhere, and a 4yo 2nd hand RX 580 doesnt sound great either.

    The 4gb is your new basic mid level gaming gpu so out with the 2GB AND something decent for your mid level gaming. For serious gaming you will need 8GB or more is great for hardcore gamers. So 4GB is good for your basic game play.

      Mid-level (midrange) has been 6-8gb for some time now. 4gb has been obsolete ever since Watch Dogs 3 came out. A benchmark for this game using this card on Medium would mean it'll have to draw from the system memory. The only reason 4gb is now a thing again is because miners buy out the low-end 8gb models before any budget gamer could get their hands on them.

      It can be true if you have 16 lanes / fast memory bandwidth.. Because then it can somehow survive when hitting the 4gb vram limit without too much penalty to FPS.
      But then try using it on PCIE3 device. Every time you will reach the 4GB Vram limit (and you will reach), your FPS will drop drastically. While a similar card with more lanes / better bandwidth can still play the game.

    • @MLWJ1993
      @MLWJ1993 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can't really do raytracing though, minimum entry for that is still a 2060 (for 1080p) or better, this thing doesn't come close. If you need FSR for 1080p gaming to hit 60fps at already reduced settings that's not a good result either... This is a pretty heavily cut down GPU & it shows, can't even beat their own RX 580/590 nor is it useful as a display adapter.
      On the topic of budget gaming, a lot of budget gamers have PCIe 3.0 systems as of right now. PCIe 3.0x4 absolutely SUCKS with this GPU.

A few days ago they released R7 5700X, 5600, 5500 (this is lower clocked 5600g without iGPU and PCIe 3.0 because it is Cezanne not Vermeer). So AMD just showed us their marketing about budget gaming setup = 250€ for GPU and 200€ for the cpu. I would rather stick with 3050 and 12100f and it would still be much better. Most stupidest move from AMD since they released Ryzen.

    It’s a brand new GPU and a tiny 107mm2 die. They can produce 564 of these per wafer, and with 4GB miners won’t buy it. It isn’t a great GPU, but it is going to be in stock a ton more than any other GPU. I could have bought a 6500xt at $200 for the hour after launch. This is a hold over card so you can sell your old dying GPU or selling your newer GPU for a profit.
    This is the Navi 24 die, it is originally for laptop only, they just pushed it super hard to work for desktops. That is the reason it is limited to only 4 PCIe lanes. Sure, you can buy a old GPU, but when will they die? Not be supported anymore? Regarding the RTX 3050 8GB… why do you think they put 8GB? Because miners will eat these up in the mining SKUs, what reason would Nvidia have to sell the GA106 die cut down 33-40%?
    They are going to sell those GA106 dies for their CMP and laptops. How many 2060 12GB have you seen? Nearly 0 because it is a mining card.

    Yeah, this 6500xt is just bad. Worst part is, amd can't make it any cheaper since shipping and other costs are higher. With $200, amd isn't making a whole lot.
    And no, just because this is a laptop gpu put on desktop does not mean its suppose to be bad. If this is the case, then pascal must've sucked since laptop and desktop parts were basically the same, spec wise.
    Amd could've put it at $250, given it a 80 bit bus, 5gb of vram (miners need minimum 6gb now), 20mb of infinity cache, cap it to 75w (so no 6 pin), pcie x16 lanes and it would still perform like a 1650s/5500xt 4gb but at 75w. Would be better.

    The fun part, the 6500xt´s aren´t even bad if you get them for less then 200 bucks, which is quite doable. Even the 4gb vram is hardly an issue as in newer titles the gpu power is anyways not good enough to crank stuff up to high but medium still looks great. I´d say it has sufficient vram for the gpu power it has. Complaining about lack of vram on that card is like complaining that a gt 710 isn´t available with 8gb of vram.
    It´s pretty much complaining just for the sake of complaining. But i guess it became cool so you have to do it to remain part of the cool kids club.
    The blessing of the 6500xt is that it made it pretty obvious which youtube channels are even remotely competent and which aren´t. Fun fact, the majority are just mentally underdeveloped copy pasting scripts for the sake of generating clicks.

    "Using this GPU for streaming or for video editing is going to be a problem," you shouldn't just generalize to your audience like this, you should say how it is a problem and that there is a caveat that the CPU can do the encoding instead if it's powerful enough.
    It's literally only a problem if someone bought this card thinking it will do those things or make those things perform better on your PC, and for that they can only blame themselves.
    I bought a 6500 XT at less than half of what a discounted 6600, non-XT, goes for. Buying anything more powerful for my current PC would have been wasted money, and performance wise it does everything I wanted it to do. Just because it doesn't fit YOUR use case doesn't mean it's a problematic GPU, it just means it's not for you. Get over yourself and move on.

Normally this gpu would be all kinds of meh but in this market for that price brand new it made sense in a messed up way. Would go nicely with a cheap Intel 6 core cpu capable of pcie 4. What a crappy sad time it is for PC gaming right now when this gpu seems like a deal 😢. Well "seemed" like a deal anyway before they sold out.
