  • Superman- Ultimate Flight is the Bolliger & Mabillard flying coaster found at Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Great Adventure, and Six Flags Great America. The original in Georgia hugs the terrain while the latter two clones have some key differences. I have ridden all three versions and in this video, I will discuss which one is the best.

    Front row or outside seat makes this ride so much fun. Last row interior seat not are good. So are trees at SFGrAm versus open lot at SFGrAd. I will ride SFoG next month and I've riden Tatsu...but somehow Superman at SFGrAm is my favorite as the trees get closer to the train every year. I like the inline twist more than the pretzel. The memories I had riding this. I remember my first experience on a flying coaster was when I didn't know it would be a night ride cause I waited 2 and a half hours for this lol. But boy I'd almost say those 30 seconds were worth the wait. This was the only time iv blacked out on a coaster cause I had zero clue what to expect with the pretzel loop. The drop gets so close to the ground. The pretzel loop is nowhere near as intense anymore but it's still a freaking pretzel loop. The turns flip you toward the sky and get so close to the ground and trees. And it ends with a nice twist at the end. As I prefer rides like Manta, Superman is a great ride that I don't care at all about that they cloned. This may not have the Over Georgia terrain but it's better than Great Adventures cause it at least has trees.

    I apologize for commenting this twice, but I’m genuinely curious about your opinion on Six Flags New Orleans, if you have visited it of course. That is (unfortunately) my home park, and it hurts to pass by it almost everyday and see how dilapidated it has become. I’m very interested in how people enjoyed the coaster lineup, specifically Mega Zyph. Mega Zyph is a beautiful and picturesque CCI, and I wonder if it rode well at all. I was 3 when Hurricane Katrina hit, so I have no memories of it. Louisiana is a pretty bad state to be a coaster enthusiast, especially if you aren’t able to travel. But, it is nice to live vicariously through you and other enthusiasts. This community really does hold a special place in my life.

      @@CanobieCoaster no worries! Not really a park worth visiting in all honesty. Depending on how mega Zyph rode, the best coaster in the park was most likely Batman the ride. Batman clones are great rides, but not worth traveling all the way across the country when you have one not too far from you at SFGAdv. Guess I’ll have to make due with Louisiana’s finest, a vekoma boomerang!

    Last season, I ended up being the unlucky one who got to sit on the brake run for 20 minutes while a technical issue was worked out. I normally don't mind delays like that, but on these flyers it's particularly uncomfortable.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That sounds uncomfortable.

    • @OklahomaCoasterFan
      @OklahomaCoasterFan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was my first experience with one of these, at Georgia. It was about 20 minutes, and it was brutal. Tatsu is very sensitive, causing them to have to re-check several seats many times on every cycle, so if it's on 2 trains, be prepared to sit on that brake run for 10 minutes, even without a breakdown.

    • @tdog8600
      @tdog8600 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      After the ride we were stuck in flying position in the station for 5-10 minutes and it actually wasn’t that bad, it was kind of cool. Yeah it’s a little uncomfortable, but nowhere near unbearable

  • @omarnoble4788
    @omarnoble4788 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glad you mentioned how terrible that brake run wait can be. It broke down on my first trip to Great Adventure and we were on the brake run for about 15 minutes. I don't know what my phobia is called or if it even rises to the level of a phobia, but I don't like to be restrained, particularly in positions where I cannot access parts of my own body visually or physically. So those cuff restraints are a big hell no for me as is. I had a mini anxiety attack hanging there for so long. Hyperventilating, sweating, feeling hyper aware of my surroundings. I didn't scream or anything, but definitely let my cousin know with my panicked tone. Worst of all what I think was a stress induced itch began on my ankle and being unable to get to it, it just spread like a wildfire. I basically kissed the ground when they finally got us off. All that said, I still go on them. SeaWorld was my main park for a little while and in the beginning I'd usually give Manta a single ride. I just close my eyes, fully relax my body, and do some deep breathing when it hits the breaks. Never much of a wait on that one that I've experienced.

    I enjoy riding these if they don't have a long wait, which is rare, but it's happened. I agree that the middle section is a whole lot of nothing at GAd/GAm. Also, I hate sitting on the brake run in a prone position for so long, which happens a lot. Tatsu was having 10-15 minute dispatches with 2-train ops. That was brutal. I loved when Manta was running 1 train on my last visit, because the line was still short. I like that Batwing & Nighthawk will have us on our back if we have to wait for a 2nd train. Also, Batwing rode glossy smooth for me, and I love that layout.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Manta is the one where I usually get stuck on the brakes. It was rough after they initially reopened from covid and you had to wait for the next train to be cleaned.

    I have a bit of a bone to pick with this coaster. Supposedly DC editor Dan Didio saw the description for the early 2000s version of Supergirl in this ride's que and didn't like it, so he had her written out of the comics and erased from existence, so the best character in the Superman mythos has been gone for nearly 20 years because of this roller coaster.

    I always considered B&M to be the "Cadillac" of coasters while Vekoma the "Chevrolet" Though Vekoma HAS stepped up their game. As I've stated before. B&M loves a challenge! Throw an "impossible" terrain surface at them. Their like, HERE, hold my beer! No you have ppl lining up for hrs. to experience coaster "ecstasy" Canobie, as coaster enthusiasts we CAN be greedy on expectations. LOL! I'm greedy in the fact that I want the steam locomotives back. Even AstroWorld ran theirs once a month until 2005.

    I honestly prefer the flying dutchman model. It's way more forceful, and when you make a turn, it ACTUALLY feels like your flying. With the B&M models, I find them pretty boring except for the pretzel loop. The turns on the B&M models don't make you feel like your flying at all.
    Plus I find it more comfortable laying on your back going up the lift hill, opposed to laying down. It really hurts my chest
    Overall, I think the only advantage B&M flyers have is the technology on the coasters.
