His Hapkido techniques one of the best forms given his arm bar throw is done right for most do not do that. When it comes to fighting like being a Bouncer in bar Hapkido is the bast. The techniques range and pain affective process is what is needed. Simple looking but mastering it during fight or applying it is real situation is part of hapkido training that was old school ways but lawyers mess things up so many time. One instructor wants his students to test his form like come a Bouncer at night club. I know Hapkido school in LA where night club hires people from that school to control the young. One guy was so good a gang came in to take him on because he throw out of of their members and other NON Hapkido bouncers just watched him take on 6 guys. It could be out fear of these gang members in LA. How he came good was using being a bouncer he tested and if did not work will he came back to the studio and throughout what would worked better given range of techniques and HOW to do it. Being smart is part of being bouncer but having techniques to back up being smart. People have NO idea of Pain hapkido joint lock cause or strikes. For me the MOST import thing to learn and test is blocks if you really want defend and fight have great ability in blocking or lose. If you do not have affective blocks the rest is nice good exercise but you will not have chance to use what you know if the block fails you it over. In Hapkido the Block are the foundation of flowing techniques and most people mess that point. Every movement in a fight flows from a Block to joint lock or kicks throw. but if you do not master Blocks you will you LOSE. A affective blocks neutralizes the other person attack force then allows you to redirect or just react. Some Japanese arts are very focus on blocks than strike but if Black fails you lose. How to block has many forms and like the old hapkido masters idea of deflect force coming at you do not take it on in a direct way. Deflecting blocks is art in it self. I see hard form of blocking like bone on bone where deflecting punch is bone on muscle and muscle on bone. Less damage and pain conditioning and flowing into technique works better. Understanding block and being affective with it is conditioning and if you understand how many blocks does Hapkido has like 17 basic ones. Like how to block a front kick then types of punches. Basic block training mastery makes winners Bad blocking ability makes losers, Nice video showing Hapkido with out the pain and learning to fall. Falling wrong is very painful. Good throw you do not get up from fast or at all that is Hapkido old school.
Hapkido is badass.
