    For context the UK has a long history of banning knives, gravity knives, automatics, balisongs, disguised knives, carrying a locking knife, a knife with a blade length over 3” & fixed blades of any size in a public place is banned, we have decades of legislation banning knives & it’s made *ZERO DIFFERENCE* to the crime statistics because a knife is a peace of steel & some plastic or wood etc & nothing more.

      In Germany it is practically the same, but the number of crimes where a knife was used explodes. The statistics in Germany do not indicate the type of knife is used in crimes, but I say it's kitchen knives because kitchen knives are available everywhere and in every household. The restrictions only hits the citizens, criminals laugh about it. In Germany after years it's clear that crime has actually immigrated, this clearly shows the statistics, which also includes the number of offenses with a knife. Politics cause problems and then tightened the laws and the new laws affect us citizens who are not to blame for the situation.

      Knives are tools first and foremost. Wars are not waged at the point of a 4inch knife. How they are perceived is a direct relation to the fact that most people live completely dependent on social media perceptions because they work, pay bills, ingest media, and die. Most people in media companies don’t understand the usefulness of a knife because they are inner-city dependents who live a prepared-for-them and pre-packaged life. They do need educating.

    I was one of those critics, so I want to be far more fair to UG tools in this post.
    I absolutely loved the first UG tool knife you showed, and have considered bying one myself (I may still). The reason was the benefits of both Magnacut at 65 HRC and the weight savings relative to its overall weight.
    Its far more impactful on their small knives than the large ones. To that point, at BEST the titanium handle on the machete saves 2oz over a conventional full tang construction. 2 oz extra on a 17.3 oz tool is not enough of a reason to jusify $300 above normal.
    The cutting geometry on this knife is a true thing of beauty and I was surprised when you didnt mention it had a compond grind in the video (although I may have missed it). But what boggles my mind is using 12c27 when 14c28n exists and performs far better at higher HRC while also being more corrosion resistant.
    I'm more than happy to pay for exceptional craftsmanship...but I cant see how the Ti handle is more than a Novelty in a machete.
    Would I pay $400 for the same knife and craftsmanship with a conventional handle?
    Honestly I don't know.

    • @philipputsch4687
      @philipputsch4687 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your feedback and the more nuanced explanation of your arguments. We can assure you that the 3DTi Machete outperforms all other machetes or chopping and cutting knives we are aware of in terms of performance. Many of the features such as the lanyard system, the hammer surface, the splitting function of the handle when batoning, pull draw function, etc., were not addressed by the reviewers. Furthermore, our margin is very slim due to the high costs of our products (best materials and craftsmanship, all Made in Germany with a lot of manual work make our knives very expensive). We develop all our products without regard to costs; we aim to build professional equipment, not collector's items. Therefore, I can only emphasize again that we did not choose the 12c27 for cost reasons but because it is the best steel for our machete that we could obtain. The 14c28n you mentioned, for example, has shown to be less shock-resistant in our practice, which is why it was not an option for us. We have hardened our machete to 60-61 HRC, and the wear resistance is really good for woodwork. We design our knives based on three principles: 1. "Form follows function," and 2. "Only when the right blade geometry is combined with the right steel and the right heat treatment can a blade fulfill its purpose correctly," 3. "The ergonomics and shape of the handle must fit both the shape of the blade and the hand of the user" (one reason why there are two handle sizes, for example). I think you would better understand our product if you had held a 3DTi in your own hands.
      Best regards from Germany,
      Philipp from UG-Tools

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc หลายเดือนก่อน

      @philipputsch4687 oh, I believe you 100% that this will be the best machete I've ever tried..no question. But is the Ti handle a solution looking for a problem? I think it's completely amazing on your smaller knives though. Plz keep doing what your doing, love your work 🙏.
      Also the shock absorption on 12c27 is not something I knew about! 😮
      Assuming that 12c27 is in fact the ideal steel for this purpose, what would be the pros and cons to using a conventional handle setup?

    • @philipputsch4687
      @philipputsch4687 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@maxlvledc
      There are several reasons for this. The most obvious one is the insensitivity. The titanium handle is not affected by weather conditions, such as UV rays or water, and is also insensitive to 99% of all chemicals. The handle works just as well at -50°C as it does at +100°C, unlike wood, micarta, or other epoxy resin-based handle materials.
      Additionally, it is much more stable. Under normal conditions, it is indestructible. You can throw it out of a helicopter or run over it with a 40-ton truck.
      Also worth mentioning is that the blade is connected to the handle with a press fit. This fit undergoes almost no aging, unlike adhesives. The adhesive we use seals the existing gaps to prevent the penetration of liquids (capillary action).
      Furthermore, we have developed a lanyard system that significantly improves user safety. Unfortunately, the guys didn't show that, and explaining it is too complicated. In short, the lanyard can be pulled out from the front part of the handle, placing the loop at the base of the blade. This can practically only be achieved through 3D printing.
      As also mentioned, the handle end is suitable as a hammer surface, and you can use the handle as a wedge for batoning.
      The handle comes in two different hand sizes. Tell me another manufacturer who can adapt their products so flexibly. This is also only possible through 3D printing.
      I hope I could answer your question sufficiently.
      Best regards,

    It's funny that people panic over knives and don't ask themselves and each other why???
    I myself have wondered why there are new laws almost every week???
    I have been researching it for over 10 years and have found out quite a lot.
    But when I tell people about it, they don't believe it and think I'm crazy.!!! Thanks for the video 💖💖💖

    As long as there is a Scandi or a convex version and a Sabre grind version I think most people would be happy.

    As a LONG time user of scandi-grind knives, I personally found that over time I'm more and more drawn towards higher grinds. Maybe it's just the way I use them but I feel like I get more benefits out of them that way. They still work wood like a wizard, often even better, yet they don't wedge into certain materials or food as badly as short scandi-grinds. The only issue is if it's so high or on such thin stock that the edge is super acute and thus prone to chipping when doing anything other than basic cutting or light carving... but I don't see either of your options posing that problem.

    So many new and existing channels out there firing out great knife content and competition for those watch hours is tight for most channels. Only so many hours in the day to watch content. You may consider doing a live once in awhile to drum up viewers and put out a bit more content than just once a week. Just my 2 cents on this. And anyone buying a machete at that price is looking for an art piece vs looking for a solid user option. Some really want that hands on one of a kind custom and are willing to pay for it because that's what speaks to them. Difference between a collector and a user also comes into play, not that you can't use them but many will want to keep it pristine as an art piece. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.

    As long as the channels of us knife loving guys are not shut down and as long as we are subscribed to each others, everything is fine. Well, maybe not in a financial way if I understand that right, but at least we can form and keep a kind of global community.
    And yes of course, knives are tools, even tools of great entertainment, as your channel clearly demonstrates ... 😁
    Keep on making us happy, all the best, regards from India, Robert

    The problem is not the tool but the people using it. And that's what nobody understands.
    You can kill with almost everything in your hands, also a simple stone, the problem is not the stone but the people handling it.
    Knife are tools like a lot of other things, we have to understand how to use them in the right context and in the right way like all the other tools.
