    Just bought one and waiting for it to arrive. Intend to use this as a last resort. I need to research storage and spare parts.

    My question is - once you have finished sterilising the filters flushing them through etc, do you disassemble the whole unit again so both filters can air dry?
    Only problem i see is if its still damp on the inside from the cleaning process would this not hinder its shelf life in storage?

    So well explained, thank you. I would store my 'dirty' hose separately from the clean one after using it in the stream.

      @TheBugOutShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there is a sperate compartment on the bag for the hoses so not to get cross contamination

      @@TheBugOutShopthis is not very impressive at all ....too much messing about ,too many parts ,too many procedures ,plus the shelf life after priming will be very short due to the moisture content ...
      This is ONLY useful as a home filter ,not a bug out filter AT ALL .. and being a home filter IT'S UP AGAINST THE BERKEY .... ( 100,000 gallons )
      .... NOPE .....
      If its a bug out filter ,it's up against the grayl ... ( use immediately ,no extra parts no assembly ...)
      So.... N o p e ...
      It's a dead donkey .

    Question, if I don't plan on using this for a while, should I NOT prime it? That way, it last for even longer? Basically this is just going in my SHTF bag. So I'm thinking, there's no need to prime it until it's time to use it. Am I correct? Thanks.

    • @TheBugOutShop
      @TheBugOutShop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would leave priming it until you use it. It will store in its original state for some time

      @@TheBugOutShop I read that when you store it for a long time you must al this cleaning do every month, also if you do not use it. And control if it is not dried up. When the filter is dried up then this filter is dead and you can trow it away.

    Good start 😅 Just bought one of these and not used it yet. Surprised how small it is and can give you up to 5000 litres of clean drinking water. Perfect for a bug out bag- amazing.

      @@TheBugOutShop Absolutely. They are so small and cheap (for what they can give you) it's worth having two. Wife can carry one 😚 Rather than buy just one and a spare filter, for a little more you have a whole spare unit too in case you break one.

    People don't seem to appreciate the kind of horrible VIRAL diseases you can catch from water, and are content to use filters instead of purifiers like the Lifesaver.
    I'm really excited about the Lifesaver wayfarer because of the purifiers (besides the dubious Survivor Filter made in China somewhere) it filters out the smallest particles many other purifiers can let through some of the smallest viruses.

    I just bought a Katadyn pump similar in size to that one, took the ceramic filter out to check it and it disintegrated in my hand, got full refund and didn't need to send it back, but new filters aren't cheap, if you can find one. I might be in the market for one of those Leigh 🤔

    • @TheBugOutShop
      @TheBugOutShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      These have the filter/purifier quality of the MSR guardian (£390) but near the cost of the Katadyn. The filters are where the money is but when you divided the cost by the amount of drinking water you get (5,000ltrs) it works out a lot better than buying or carrying water. Cheers for watching.

    Wait, I'm confused. The product info says "Cleans up to 5,000 liters" but then it says the exchangeable carbon filters are only good for 100 liters ("Exchangeable disc with active carbon - effective up to 100 litres"). Does this mean that the Wayfarer comes pre-packed with a much better carbon filter that is good for 5,000 liters, and the replacement ones are only good for 100 liters? Or do you always have to change the filter after 100 liters?

    • @TheBugOutShop
      @TheBugOutShop  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@matiasjuselius9221 the carbon filter is not essential as it can be used without. The main filter will be good for 5k litres.

      @@TheBugOutShop You did not answer his question. People do mostly this beacause they try to hidden something. The answer is that all this carbonfilters in this filter are the same and just work for 100 litres or for maximum one month from activated it, so from use it the first time.
