I have Gemini Rising - Saturn is in my 12th House. Rahu in my 8th House. Moon in my 11th House and Mars/Venus Conjunct in my 2nd House. Jupitar sits in my 7th House. If I go with what you have to say, I should be living a horrible life with all these planets situated in these houses. However, I find myself to be one of the most fortunate people that I know. Right now I am going through Rahu Mahadhasha. So far, I have lead a pretty nice and successful life.

I am a Gemini Ascendant, have Sun-Merc-Mars in 6th and Ketu in 11th house. As both these houses are ruled by Mars-the worst enemy of Mercury (and perhaps of Ketu as well?), should these placements be considered highly inferior?

I have read that book just to know what other people think. When there is a contradiction I fall back on Maharshi Parasara. We need a reference point. My opinion is that we need to do more research. The internet is a great place where people should start sharing their experience so that we can validate with proof. Every Astrologer has a right to do research and come up with his own views but then in that case how do we reach an agreement. More people like you should start doing research.

Sir What Happens if Mars is placed in Lagna i.e in ascendant. I lost my job 6 months back. Till date i did not get my job. Just because my Mars dasha started on 2nd December 2016 and i lost job. for me sun is placed in 10th house and Mercury and venus placed in 9th house and Jupiter placed in 11th house. In my case, things are bit different in result. I'm Gemini Ascendant (Mithuna Lagna), the 7th lord Jupiter is in the 4th house giving good results so far! Mercury (in kanya) is the most beneficial planet in my life period I must admit. 6th house mars not making much trouble but 11th house (in Aries) Saturn is giving very bad results where the sun in 3rd house (Leo) given good results so far.

Over a period of time you will get clarity if you remain in Astrology for a long time.

That is not the right approach. You need to see where planets are and with which planet each one is influenced etc. For Mesha Lagna there are 4 good planets. But where are these 4 planets placed. That is the question.

I think Jupiter is not malefic in Gemini if it is retrograde in 12th house. Neither mercury is malefic if it sits in 5th house (purva punya). Saturn has been my best benefic planet sitting in 7th house (directional strength). I am a Gemini ascendant. I always wear neelam, emerald. I think functional malefic or benific depends on house placement of planets. Mars is in my 10th house (directional strength). So although malefic, it still did me little good.

The lords of these houses are bad. The placement of planets in these houses come under different rules. They are different matters. Rahu is very good in the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th houses.

Functional malefics are planets whose mulatrikona signs are in 6th,8th or 12th house, that is only what I want to say, if you understand it or not. No planet whether functional or natural malefic or both whether functional benefic or natural benefic is totally bad. Every planet has its positive significance which have a great importance in our day to day life, sooner people understand this the better.
