Queen Dowager Alicent Hightower ''bends the knee'' pretty early in the tv version of the Targaryen Civil War. In the book, she surrenders only after the end of the Battle of the Honeywine, the Battle at the Gullet and the ''Fishfeed'' Battle. All these said battles haven't even happened yet in House of the Dragon. She also only capitulates at King's Landing after having no choice but to admit defeat. Even then, she was looking out for the best interests of her lineage. Alicent suggested that the Seven Kingdoms be divided between Rhaenyra and her son while keeping an arrogant air of disdain towards her stepdaughter. In HOT D, by having her go to Rhaenyra and plead for mercy while offering her son's head on a silver platter, the show makes her irredeemable with her lack of courage and family/nation pride.
What about the fact that Ser Christen Cole killed Joffrey Lonmouth by murdering him during a banquet, while in the books it happened by accident during a duel at a tourney, which was sanctioned combat.
I wouldn’t call it a filler episode. We’ve had a couple of them this season. This was a good episode, but just not as a finale. There was too much build up and not enough pay off.
7:29 1. Why big eyes? Looked for dragon and found one 2. Maybe she gets burned alive or injured, and then appears book rider Nettles 3. If Nettles is excluded, they'll have to create a new character or change another one's role to affect Rhaenyra and Daemon story like Nettles did
You must be out of the loop. Only eight Season 2 episodes were planned. People are focusing way too much on the action; we need some calm in the mix so we can have a balance.
@@Jeremiah_Rivers76 while I pity you for clearly missing the joke they were going for, I do agree that there's too many Fast And The Furious fans getting into this series. This universe has always been about politics and talking. Moving game pieces and setting things up with very occasional action-packed payoffs. These meatheads are like, "THERE NEEDS TO BE DRAGON BATTLES IN EVERY EPISODE AND THINGS GOING KABOOM"
4:19 the thing is that the book is a history book meaning that it can be unreliable so they maybe wanted to make aegon look “good” in that particular moment
So tired of this excuse. So the book mistook the Black Valaryians as White with purple eyes? Nah. HBO took a war between family members and turned it into a show about two lesbians that couldn't be together because of men so they plunged the realm into war.
Vhagar took forever to get close enough to Sunfyre and Meleys and even longer to “Dracarys” (enough time that Aegon and Meleys could’ve fled) so I hope by the old Gods and the New that the show runners aren’t serious when they say the series is what actually happened, because it’s completely nonsensical and even moronic to think that a dragon as large and as slow as Vhagar can take that long to fly to battle and then suddenly reappear in the light of speed behind a castle for a sneak attack after being thrown to the ground by Meleys (during their second fight)… In the books, Vhagar watches as Meleys and Sunfyre battle, and all she does is fall on top of them, weighing both dragons down, killing Meleys by breaking her body and injuring Sunfyre and Aegon… I’ve seen plenty of people say/complain that the episode was perfect until that moment, so I know I’m not alone in this
Some of the differences are believable, since Fire and Blood is told more as a historical text than the POV chapters we get in the ASOIAF series. But some of the changes are just silly.
In the book Otto Hightower decides to negotiate with the Triarchy to attack Corlys Velaryon’s fleet that blockades the Gullet during the war but in the show Aemond sends Tyland Lannister to negotiate with the Triarchy into attacking Corlys’s fleet that’s blockading the Gullet
So...a question Where is corlys's army? They are gonna fight the essos pirates with just one ship? And why there is no dragon with them? Shouldn't Rhaenyra sent one with them? I had so many questions that left unanswered Like where is criston Cole will going or Jason lannister destination which left unanswered
Corlys' army is at the Gullet creating a blockade to King's Landing, there's hundreds of ships there and if the pirates were to attack them Rhaenryra would surely send dragons to help defend it since it's so close to Dragonstone. Criston Cole is going to Harrenhall and Jason Lannster is meeting him there
@@jaytender4949 If no one cares why did they change them in the first place? Because people who obsessd with their skn colour wanted to see themselves on the TV.
All these changes is the reason why season 2 is so confusing and questionable they changed so much of the original book story that now this is a whole different thing all together. Season 2 was basically one big battle episode 4 and the rest is filler and build up for season 3
Criston makes sense narratively. There was similar video for S1 after it ended, and they said black Varion is welcomed diversity for Westeros and hinted that critics are racist

Basically, this show is very pro-Black, while in books, both sides were guilty of equally serious crimes. They seem only sympathetic to Helaena from Greens
Horrible season all over illogical writing at its peak .. Rhaenyra, a mother will never show restraint after her sons murder. Alicent, another mother will chooses her rival over her own children, and Daemons unnecessary whole season long Rehab

I didn't read the books, so don't come for me. But I really don't understand why if Helaena is having these visions of their demise, and Daemon is having these visions too... then why go through with this war? Ok, yea, for the throne 🙄 But like... "unaliving" themselves, their own family members, their dragons... hardly seems worth it, imo. And if she's having these visions, why not change the outcome by doing something different. Like with the baby... she knew these rat catchers were coming for her son, so why not give up the girl instead? 🤨 And what about these innocent dragons anyway, that are just being used as weapons? Aren't the dragons all related? Using them for their strength and power hardly seems like a good idea just for a throne that only pokes and s t a b s you if you're deemed "not worthy". If Daemon knows he's "just a piece on the board", then why continue with this nonsense? Kinda makes no sense to me, Mr. Martin 🧐 Especially when he himself says "the throne is a burden". Just burn it down and have them rule their own land where they currently are then. Everyone already calls them Kings and Queens anyway.
