I came across this weird phenomenon visiting Liverpool and the newly renovated library a few years ago and seeing a gentleman approach the library information desk and he was asked this. Then I saw the cards themselves and was horrified that instead of celebrating Literature and literary characters and authors, or the history of the city or something importantly culturally relevant, the only thing that was thought of when designing library membership cards was this wonderful city's football teams. I was extremely disappointed to say the very least.
