    I'm originally from the Wirral, and I've been dubbed a woolyback many times, or posh Scouse, as I enunciate more I suppose like someone from Cheshire, and since I made the grave error of moving to hell, sorry, the South, all I've had is confusion and ridicule of my accent as it's simply Northern, the way I say bath, without an r, called a foreigner, and much worse.
    It's true what they say about Southerners, I've not met one friendly, warm or helpful one yet, and I don't like the accents. It's lovely to watch this video as it gives me some nostalgia feels, I especially liked the two girls, they looked fun, and one came from Southport one of my favourite haunts back in the day!
    Thanks for posting, it's made me smile stuck in miserable hostile Kent.

      As someone from Cheshire I can tell you the Wirral was formerly a part of Cheshire CH postcodes…the Wirral is also one of the nicest areas in Merseyside along with Formby and north!
      So I’d much rather not be from Liverpool lol. Also some of Liverpools best football plsyers like Ian Rush Michael Owen are wools apparently. It’s all very childish and xenophobic…

    Live in Liverpool but born and raised in Southport, didn’t realise how much of a wool I was until I got here.
    I think Southport is as far out as you can get whilst still being in Merseyside, so it’s identity is massively different to Liverpool and Sandgrounders and Scousers are completely different people.

    • @Anonymous_Anon882
      @Anonymous_Anon882 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How are they different?

    • @jordancruz7375
      @jordancruz7375 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Anonymous_Anon882 Well historically speaking, before the county boundaries changed, Liverpool was a part of the county of Lancashire, these days Lancashire is associated more heavily with the likes of Preston and Burnley and Blackburn.
      Whilst Liverpool and Merseyside has become very much its own thing, Southport, with its Preston postcode, still feels an awful lot like Lancashire. The accent is different, the cultural references are different.
      I was born and grew up in Southport with a Mum, Dad and older sister all from Kirkdale, and I am still VERY different to Scousers.
      Best example I can think of, my sister lives on a road in Southport, both her and her husband are from Liverpool, they both work in Liverpool, travel in everyday, spend weekends shopping in town and eating out at restaurants.
      Their next door neighbour is born and raised in Southport, works on a farm just outside of Southport, goes pheasant shooting on the weekend and would maybe go to Liverpool once a year.
      Thats the split.
      Sorry for the essay.

So actually Wirral sets the trends from origin. The scousers "known for being robbing cunts" actually stole the term once it become outdated and used it as their own form of slander. I'd say the Runcornions who are from Warrington or Chester are Woolybacks because almost everyone from Runcorn speaks with a scouse accent and not everyone's from the pool but you can deffo tell when a kids puttin a plastic scouse accent on!
