Nice study! It’s a rhythmic swing step starting with movement to the right that opens the sight line to the ball followed by a low hard right foot thrust toward the left front wall. Jahangir’s options delay Jansher’s response and forces him to re-set and accelerate abruptly. Farag knows sooner where Coll’s shot is going and can make a more fluid response.

thks for this interesting and yet subtle video clip analysis
i wld like to comment on jansher's and ali's wrist/hand position as they executed the drop
as u've pointed out jansher approached the drop with his hands/wrist angled downwards and guiding the racquet under the ball; whereas ali approached the shot with his wrist/hand oriented higher to hit thru the ball
i wld say that jansher, in this instance, showed greater skill as he managed to put his opponent under more pressure than in ali's case
i wld also say that with ali's hand/wrist orientation it wld have been easier for him to catch the nick by hitting thru the ball than in trying to stick it close to the wall which he was unsuccessful at

The difference is possibly also because of lighter rackets in case of Farag. Which allows option of an easier whip.
But 100% agree with your analysis.

If we compare the positions of jahangir and Coll it is clear that coll's shot had a lesser element of ability to surprise farag and so he was able to respond earlier than Jansher. The level of skill difference between jahangir and coll is tremendous so naturally the greater difficulty for Jansher to recover from deception that jahangir creates.

Tight shorts expedite swift execution of and recovery after a lunge.

It is game to be played with heart. Jansher's technique and shoes were always sub par, that is why cost him his knees and end of career.
