I put the cold air intake and motorcraft oil separator on a 2014 f150 5.0 4x4 and went from average 15 mpg at 75 mph to 18 to 20 mpg. The best 400 bucks you can spend on performance and the oil separator really does keep crankcase oil from returning in the intake. Worth every penny
Novac hit the nail on the head! Too funny I allllway hear cars out here late at night. You can tell some have some big power. A friend of mine had an RS! Pretty awesome cars!
loganbaileysfunwithtrains hahaha that’s awesome! Tune as well? What exhaust did you go with? A friend of mine had a Roush on his and OMFG it was loud haha
FuseMedia no tune yet, I ordered 3in MBRP duels with side dumps that are right in front of the rear axle, it’s not super loud but they’ll do the job for now, I’m budgeting myself after having to spend $1,300 on tires, a 2in level and alignment, but all part of owning a truck I suppose, and yeah those Roush pipes are insane
loganbaileysfunwithtrains that’s awesome! Yours should sound great! I can’t believe how expensive tires are. But then again anything car, truck or bike related is expensive
FuseMedia I spent about $960 on tires but the cost of a level kit and having a shop put it on and the alignment really killed my bank account, I got the CAI installed and it already has changed up the sound so much, sounds like a V8 now. Just need a nice sunny day to get the exhaust put on
loganbaileysfunwithtrains that’s awesome! We actually sold the F-150 in the video for an Explorer Sport but now we’re going back to the F-150 haha. This one is a black FX4 with the 5.0L. Can’t believe how fast it is with that new 10 speed auto. I’m not too sure about mods though, might leave it stock for now, eventually go to a more aggressive tire
Just picked up a ‘13 5.0 Platinum! Love the truck but of course coming from a sedan I’m feeling the pain of fuel consumption. Any tips/tricks to knock a few litres off per 100k? Does the intake help at all?
Biggest thing is driving habits and making sure everything is runnibg properly. Double check you tire pressure as well. The intake I think helped a little bit but there is so many variables that change fuel economy too. It was hard to tell at first because I would step on it a bit more to get that intake growl haha
FuseMedia yeah fair enough same thing will probably happen to me hahah. I’ll probably throw a tune on it after hopefully make everything run smoother. Thanks for your reply!
@@RuckusOutfitters haha thanks! Its the 5.0L. We loved the truck but we figured we needed a more family hauller. Sold the truck to my dad and then we picked up an Explorer Sport with the 3.5L ecoboost
So you installed the cold air intake system and not just the KN replacement filter??? I was going to throw a stock KN replacement filter in my 2011 5.0 but have my doubts about any difference being made still using factory airbox and such
Vincent Battle they can only deny a claim if it is affected by the part. Like if the MAF sensor has a fault they would say its because of the intake system. But if your left front strut blows you would be find and have it covered since they are unrelated.
That’s the sound of the 5.0 coyote I love mine but then I threw a flomaster 40 series muffler with dual exhaust I love it about to get a cold air intake and high flow cats
23v0lv32 I honestly felt a little more throttle response, felt like it had some more pep. As far as has mileage goes I didn't notice a big difference BUT it probably got worse because I was constsntly harder on the gas to hear the noise. Haha
I installed mine on my 5.4, ever since install I noticed loss in power when i hit my gas! My RPMs will sky rocket and my speedometer doesn’t move much just a loud motor and no action, my stock was better
Interesting! I noticed a more snappy throttle responce and some more power throughout. Especially on the high end. That being said the factory intake system is an excellent design, with the intake you will also get more heat soak.
That's because the 5.4 is a horrible engine design. Unless you put the aftermarket 60psi oil pump on, aftermarket intake, better fuel rail and better coil packs it will always be a turd
@@DWBCustomAmmo yeah, I can see why Ford moved to the 5.0L and ecoboosts. Loved the 5L in our F150. Lots of power, really good mileage for a fullsize truck and power to boot.
@@99MCougar Mine gets horrible fuel mileage for the 5.0 Coyote, but that's my fault because of all the engine upgrades, 6in lift, 35x12.5 tires and 20" rims but it has tons of power and I don't have to worry about all the timing trouble and oil bleed off of the 5.4 3V
Steve Irnwitt I would say its worth it. You get a little performance gaib and throttle responce. The biggest difference is the sound which makes the truck way more fun to drive. I managed to get mine for $100 cnd so it was well worth it.
+John Hosea throttle response was improved and it did seem to have more pull. The difference was pretty minimal but the throttle response was decent. The biggest thing was the induction noise to be honest. Made the truck waaay more fun to drive
Hahaha pretty late stop! I thought he was going to make the video even more interesting for a second.. I was covering the brake anticipating the roll 😂
Lol to be honest that was partly my fault. There was a chip right on the edge and I didn’t see it until it cracked. Couldn’t see the chip from the inside. I know what you mean though!!
That's the kind of results I was hoping to see from this upgrade. Sound and power. Gives me renewed hope.
Yeah I makes it a lot more fun to drive!
Wow, actual, real world sound and functionality. Great video. Yeh, it's going in the cart.
glad the video helped!
Installing this and a Borla ATAK exhaust tomorrow afternoon. Can’t wait!!!
Nick Santangelo that’s awesome! My buddy had this intake and the Roush exhaust. That truck sounded amazing. Enjoy it!
Nick Santangelo just bought the SAME MODS! I’m stoked!
That a nasty difference!!! Thanks bro bout to upgrade 👍🏻
thats it im ordering a kit now

CJ Colvin right on! Its a great truck and engine!
how tf is that the stock exhaust?! sounds badass
Mountains and Marshes thanks! It’s all intake noise! You hear it a lot in the cabin but outside it’s pretty tame

OXY yeah it really is. Plus it’s about 2min from my house. You can hear guys racing up and down this stretch all night sometimes.

Really? Hmm was it the K&N or a different brand? Did your MAF size change?
mine is coming Friday for my 5.0 F-150, and just bought an exhaust system for it, pretty soon I’ll be pissing the whole neighborhood off

MPG change at all? Factory Airbox seems pretty good.
Mpg improvement??
Did you replace just the air filter or the whole intake system?
Roger Murray it was the whole intake system. So factory filter, air box and piping was replaced with K&N.

JohnnyRebKy correct. Bought the whole intake system from K&N. This doesnt use the drop in filter. Its a cone filter from K&N.
cool thanks for the reply! I think ill just wait until I can buy the system rather than a stock replacement filter. Thanks!
JohnnyRebKy no problem! Its worth it for sure! Feels like a bit more throttle response but the sound is intoxicating.

Is it necessary to do a tuning after installing the cold air intake ?
No tuning necessary. I had the factory tube but to get the most out of the intake and truck a tune is probably the best bang for your buck mod.
Very nice! And that’s totally stock exhaust?
cheeznhard thanks! Yup it sure is. The truck sounds pissed off now inside and out! Love the intake and highly reccomend it!
Para una ford f150 1993 V8 5.0?
Sorry, late reply but this won’t work with an old 5.0L. I’m sure K&N makes a lot for the 90’s 5.0L V8’s

any lift on acceleration or gains in MPG? I run a '13 V8 FX4 that I love but would really like some more pep in the throttle
