This song is the perfect example of a bassist who understands their role in a given song. Even though you can’t make out the bass as a focal point in most the song (minus the funk riff) the bass perfectly bridges the keyboard/percussion with Gilmores guitar.
that is honestly what made the pink floyd to me, the bass, guitars and keys are always so funky and interlocked in their way of playing, starting from echoes and obscured by clouds up till animals; especially in have a cigar you can barely distinguish who is playing what in the way they all blend together
This version of echoes is my favorite song by pink floyd. It's absolutely a masterpiece. Thank you for covering this song. And I have bought the tabs which were transcribed by you already. Keep it up bro!
I love echoes as I was 17 then 1973 and I got absorbed in Pink Floyd tunes and the lsd ....I like very much Jason technique of playing the " Thing" - thanks for it to you all that made this available on you tube channel.
These songs have always been hard for me. I'm used to Sabbath riffs which often have a pattern. Roger tends to do seemingly random fills that are difficult for me to remember.
Waters treats the bass like a lead guitar here, which is what makes it so amazing. He’s not afraid to change it up and make it do it’s own thing instead of just one repeated rhythm which is usually how bass is played
This song should be studied by NASA because it picks up on the universes main career wave using sound as a vehicle for mapping. The unknown and known universe was spoken into existence with notes not words in order to be deciphered by all life forms in all dimensions. This is also a porthole
Woh, such the perfect tone? May I ask how you got it? I tried to learn this song but there's just so much stuff, I never had the courage to do it. Respect for that!

I agree. I have a squier precision bass, but it has a P/J configuration. Had it for about a year. Only used the J pickup probably 5 times. Not a fan of the bright sound tbh. I like a deep punchy P bass.
@@jolo8146 wrong. The squire pickups make LoFi sounds not HiFi. It's actually a dull sound in comparison to the HiFi bass. 60 years and you still don't know it's LoFi. Being LoFi, it's actually quite in the noise problem. But you're too slow to notice.
Another missed opportunity for Roger. We like this song so much Roger could have given us the bass version too. He could sell all the songs with a bass version too. Why not! We're old enough to handle 20 more versions. Other later live versions are SO sloppy and lazy. He could take this version and run with it into spin off's and do more with the old sounds.
This song is the reason why I started playing bass
me too!
the only reason you started playing bass is because guitar is too hard for you
@@Hellnawno wow! you’re really projecting insecurities
@@Hellnawno i mean come on. NFT tips? someone didn’t get enough attention from his mom.
I been playing guitar for a minute never bass but this song the funky party specifically made me want to learn bass@@Hellnawno
This one of Roger's finest bass lines. Very well thought out. Almost feels like an orchestra alongside with guitars, vocals and keys.
Only 1 problem,
this isn't Roger's bass guitar.
This isn't Roger's amplifiers too.
@@Gma7788 did Roger write the bass line? Cause ik he performed it at least
@@timothyholly1289 Yea I'm 99% sure he did
@@timothyholly1289 ... yes 100% Roger's style
Roger was really shining in the funky section
Roger and Nick deserve as much credit for the sound of Echoes as David and Wright
That slide at the 8:55 mark is brilliant!

You can hear the combination of high and low bass notes throughout the song very well. That’s why I like the bass in this version of the song so much.
Roger always improvised on this song in all the performances, it works so well.
This version of echoes is my favorite song by pink floyd. It's absolutely a masterpiece. Thank you for covering this song. And I have bought the tabs which were transcribed by you already. Keep it up bro!
You have waters style down so well. It’s simple but there’s little nuances you picked up on greatly. Thank you!

You are such a legend Jason
dude nailed the whole song. damn.

Well Sabbath bass parts are quite twisted

Amazing! This one and "Careful with that axe", also from Pompeii, has been my favorite Roger Waters live bass work! Thank you for this one.
right now I need to hug you to express my deepest gratitude. this was unbelievably amazing. thank you!
0:42 i have a feeling if I were to be playing this song in full band I would be too busy fucking VIBING to keep playing after this bit
Yes i have that problem while playing along any pinkfloyd song
WHAT?! I will take whatever time it takes to learn this. Thanks for transcribing it and playing it!! You are amazing with the pick
I'm great too.
What I can do with the pick amazes me.
Just that good.
I'm being looked after.

My god this song is incredible and you did and excellent job
Good stuff Jason. I appreciate the score which I much prefer to tabs so having the notes is awesome. Thanks!

This is by far one of my favorite tracks to play! Can you please tell me how you got your bass tone settings and the correct tuning using for this?
Excellent!! One of my absolute favorite tunes!!
This isn't one of your fav tunes.
This is a guy playing some kind of fender bass into who knows what amplifier.

Wrong.
Jason, por seu tempo e disposição para demonstrar essa pérola, eu como interessado agradeço 👉🏻👍🏻👏👏👏

I would like to purchase this score, even better if it's compatible with Musescore. Let me know, thanks
fantástico Pink floyd saludos desde el sur de Chile Temuco... fin del mundo.
Bravo, good job,
What is the exact tuning on this one? I know it's standard, but I don't think it's 440Hz, right? It sounds off on my bass for some reason.
This is the best cover of Echoes I have ever heard. 👍 I would only put a but more feeling into it 😉
Wow! Nice job- and an interesting story they said Andrew Loyd Weber ripped this off for Phantom of the Opera's main overture song.
And what did I say about it?
I was the only person to play the phantom of the opera pin ball machine.
The who referred to me as the pinball wizard.
I was waiting for the funky section right at the end, but it was skipped. Why?
This is the whole song except for the whale section
6:25 Funky section
Tremendous!!!! What strings are you using?
Money strings.
Emotional strings.
¡Ole!, felicidades.
How you all that remember? These bass part. Sorry for my English!
Hey, can you make tab cover Great gig in the sky from 1974 live?
Just played along to the whole song and two of my fingers are bleeding lmao
Excelente!!!!!
Can I buy the tabs for only this song?? Cant find it on your website.
BRAVO
Not true.
This song makes me need a steel slide
Which effect do you use ???
Спасибо за разбор
F@@in awesome thanks!! For this cover. One of my all time favorites!! 🎸
You're not allowed to have it as a favourite.
It's really silly tones.
It's amazing to think that there are people out there who think that Waters can't play bass to a good standard (if at all)...
What’s your signal chain here?
Tbh you clicked on this video for this 6:25

It needs more slide on the funky part, more anger, more groove.
Did Roger Waters actually compose this?
Yes
And now what?

is it just me or is this a half step too low?
Actually all those creepy sounds in the middle section are bass with a slide
And you just worked that out.
I think you've forgotten.
Wrong. The funky part has a slide.
Precision best sounding bass

Your Bass Line in funky part has nothing to do with echoes live at pompeii.
