Billy right beyond the last curve in the river you saw is Island Home Airport (Downtown Airport). The Historic Island Home Neighborhood in which I lived most of my life. And of course I have to put in the Elvis connection, the odd looking building down the road from A.J. and Blount Mansion was the Hyatt Regency where Elvis stayed when in town.

@@weeklyspaguy Sorry Billy, all I can remember was a friend of ours, deceased years ago, owned a carpet business and was at the Hyatt to measure for or give a estimate for new installation and wasn't able to go on one of the floors because Elvis had rented the entire floor.

The Burger Bar in Bristol. VA, across the street from Bristol, TN, is reported to be Hank Sr.’s last stop, although he was apparently asleep in the back seat of his car, or something like that, during that stop, or who knows, maybe already deceased. The place still has good burgers. Also, I was fortunate enough to have met Roy Acuff once, when I had a backstage pass at the Opry. He was so kind, and welcomed me into his dressing room. Roy was from Maynardville, TN, northeast of Knoxville, and not far from where I live. The World’s Fair was in 1982. I was in college just south of Knoxville at Maryville College during that time. New highway systems were constructed just for the fair. It was a big deal. Thank you for doing stories from here in northeast Tennessee!

13:15 Dirty Hippies in Knoxville, lol. That cracked me up Billy. Cool video, love learning about history I previously wasn't aware of. Only been to Knoxville once when I went to Gatlinburg but didn't get to explore much. Would like to go back one day and see more of the town.

So cool, you found something with Fort Walton Beach, Florida! I have to tell my brother about this who lives in Maryville.

    Knoxville Tennessee, my hometown.
Another little family tidbit is that Roy Acuff is a distant cousin on my maternal side. 😊
