Hi, It’s a magnificent piece of work, really very clean! Quick question: Isn't your panel too thick and too opaque, I mean can you use your cockpit in the dark and use a backlight?
It's engraving with a V shaped bit so the depth of cut is determined by how wide the line needs to be; thinner lines mean shallower depth. Fusion calculates this for you automatically.
I haven't done backlighting yet. If I hold an LED light strip behind the panel it seems to come through brightly enough, although I think next time I need to do more coats of paint, because the light also lets through a little in areas of the paint that aren't as thick.
Hey, i am cutting acrylic with a 2mm HSS and I always have acrylic sticking to the drill bit. Have to use water to cool the bit so I don't melt the acrylic using linear cutting with 75% oberlay. Any ideas what that could be? Also, I am engraving with a 0.1mm needle. Works fine for me aswell but I guess the font isn't set up correctly. What letter size did you use?
To prevent acrylic sticking to the tool, try using a single flute tool, and make sure you're moving fast enough. That will ensure the material is getting removed faster than it has time to heat up. I use a 3mm single flute endmill and cut at over 1000 mm/min. You can use an adaptive toolpath (lower radial engagement) to lower cutting forces if you have rigidity problems cutting that fast on your machine.
I am currently trying to build a diy sim by myself, but I only have a 3D printer. And currently I do not have a CNC machine. Did you ever considered selling this, just the panel? If yes, could you let me know how much will it cost me? Thank you in advance
www.markuspilot.com/download/BOEING%20737%20MEASUREMENTS.pdf for the overall dimensions, then for individual placement of text and switches I just guessed based on pictures.
@@imnoexpertbut I've found it's "Futura Md BT". I've downloaded and installed it, but Fusion 360 doesn't seem to want to show it. I also can't see how you get the single-line path. Could you elaborate on your settings and the technique involved?
@@No1sonuk Yeah, fusion 360 seems to be picky about fonts. I used InkScape to create the text, converted it to a path, and then saved as an svg, and inserted the svg into fusion 360.
Lovely finish and beautiful router too.
Hi, that looks really good, could you make a video about it being shown in the dark with backlighting or does that not work?
Hi,
It’s a magnificent piece of work, really very clean!

great video, thanks for sharing
Hi , nice work ! Could you please mention which LED \ OLED screen you used for this model ? Thank you.
This is a 7-segment LED display with a TM1637 driver.
@@imnoexpertbut Thank you 🙏
hello, can you backlight or acrylic is not opal?? thanks!!
Great Video - How did you adhere the acrylic to the wood?
Thanks! I put painter's tape on both the acrylic and wood, then superglued the two tapes together.
HI ! Can I ask you what tip do you use for engraving the words?
Thanks for sharing, how deep is the cut when engraving the text?

has id dave some back light?
Can this be backlit?
Very impressive, Can you please share the files to load in computer for CNC router!!!!
Hi. What kind of letter did you use?
Nice work!! what CNC equipment are you using? What software are you using to make the drawings? I appreciate the information...
Check out my other videos for info about the CNC equipment, it's mostly custom but started as an OpenBuilds MiniMill. Software is Fusion 360.
Nice video, i plan on using my cnc to do lettering too. Did you illuminate this panel and if so, did the light shine very brightly through the white?

@@imnoexpertbut Used the new drill for some time now. Works awesome and no more problems. Thanks for the advice!

Ah, you don't want one I made. There are several available online that will be better quality (hispapanels, etc)
Whats the name of that Acrylic?
3/16ths of an inch thick opaque white acrylic sheets, product #3015 on estreetplastics
Hello, Very good! Where can I get the real measurements of the main panels?
www.markuspilot.com/download/BOEING%20737%20MEASUREMENTS.pdf for the overall dimensions, then for individual placement of text and switches I just guessed based on pictures.
Which font is that?
It's one of the Futura fonts, or one very similar to Futura.

But I'm still not getting it to happen. Any chance you could do a small tutorial on that part, please?
