id recommend you to get a countersink drill to make the screws fit super smooth to the acrylic. it also prevents the glas from breaking

Nice! Dont want to be rude but just would like to give a tip what you maybe can use next time. You can sand the acrylic and wood together. You will get a flush connection.
If you would like to unscruw the glass multiple times for cleaning purpase. You could use Threaded Inserts for wood. Cheers! Love the contenct on the channel!

What about hydration/humidity?
You said water will deform the wood and cause mold, but will humidity do that alone? Since you mentioned preserving humidity in the nest via that oil. I'm just thinking maybe you could plug a test tube up to it or something, where it could increase the humidity of the nest without directly wetting the wood.

I was planning on making one of these for my Camponotus species out of a “slice” from the trunk of a tree (basically a big tree cookie). Do you think it would be fine to drill an opening where I would attach a water test tube setup directly to the nest? I was planning on drilling the hole exactly the diameter of the test tube to ensure no gaps and then using hot glue or something similar to seal it completely. Great video!
This comment is a few months old, but it might be better to attach a length of rubber hosing to the wood, and then to the test tube. The flexible rubber hosing would be easier to jam into the hole in the wood, and would make refilling/changing the test tube much easier when comes the time.

No, this oil is COMPLETLY natural. Thats why it needs to be both raw and coldpressed, aka. completly natural.

1. Depends on the sp. and the size of the nest. But yes, a wooden nest is like any other nest in that case.
2. Yes, that is why you have to make the wood completly dry first, and not to use a hydrationchamber. Water = rot

Nice. However, one thing, the tunnels seem a bit shallow. I think you could have drilled a bit deeper. Also, you didn't mention anything about hydration???
It would depend on the size of the ant how deep the chambers should be.
And never hydrate wooden nests, they will instantly mould. Most people have a water test tube attached for drinking. Wooden nests are for ants that love it dry, they will take some water from the tube and use it to keep the brood moist while living in the dry.
Hi! I got my first ant farm like hmmm... 6weaks ago and i want to ask what should i feed the ants i know the basics but (Į have mesa ants) what should i do with the protein i feed the ants a little bit of boiled egg but is that good? Bcause where i live they dont sell bugs. So is a egg egnouth? And i would be thankfull even if u tell me what to feed even the basics mayby i am wrong please tell me.

Eggs are good supplements, but I would not bet on the ants succeeding soley on egg. Get some bugs you find around your house!

You can use your phone! But I use a 60mm 1:1 macro lens for my Nikon D5300 for the macro shots

accrylic is not glass it is plastic. If you must call it anything but plastic call it the viewing window.
Hahaha, I mean you are right, I do referr to it as "the glass" sometimes, but whilst not "glass" it is still "acryllic glass" meaning it is a type of acryllic resembling glass, which makes it sorta okey to call it glass imo. But yes, its technically not "glass" :PPPP
