    The first column of traits change the arms. It would be nice if the second and third collumn changed the body and color of the mech respectively.

    • @AdonanS
      @AdonanS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      People would just go with the current meta, and thus everyone's mech would still look the same.

    This is hands down the best class. So mutch crowd control, cc, mobility, high burs DPS single and AOE. Strongest pet that actually aggros large groups and tanks them all. Have not tested pvp but I can't see them struggle cause of all the tool engineer have.

  • @KidDynamite22
    @KidDynamite22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I agree so much with the comment on the removal of tool belt skills being similar to how non mesmer players feel about Virtuoso. I barely play mesmer and actually really enjoyed Virtuoso (surprisingly) so yeh I can see that

  • @joshuayoung6672
    @joshuayoung6672 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    As a mesmer main, I loved the virtuoso, just saying. But I just wish the toolbelt skills for the mechanist came back when you recalled the mech or if it was on cooldown. Because right now there is no real reason to recall it, and if it dies it is way too punishing imo

    • @MasterOfNoneGaming
      @MasterOfNoneGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah it was definitely not the case that every mesmer main hated it but it was the general sentiment that I got from reddit and in game.
      The only thing that worries me with that approach is that it would probably make it so you would have to recall your mech to do an optimal rotation. I'm not sure if that would be fun gameplay or just feel clunky/ you will end up with the same dps skills that you already use with all the other elite specs. Like I said, I don't think I have enough knowledge about engineer to have a super strong opinion on it but I quite enjoyed not having to use any toolbelt skills.
      I do agree that it's quite punishing to have the mech die.

      @@MasterOfNoneGaming To be fair, Anet said outright that they will change the cooldown time on Robo's death because it might be too punishing. It's just what made it into Beta but we can expect the death-timer to be way lower than that.

      agree i think virtuoso is a good adition to the somwhat complicated mesmer lineup. The weapon and the utility skills fell great, the shatters are divisive but i think that the casttime creates a different dynamic than the usual throwaway shatters. I just wish for some more interaction in the traits rather than power condi survivability which we saw in the beta.

    Not a huge fan of core engi but once I tried Mechanist everything just clicked. Love playing this class.

  • @Galastan
    @Galastan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    At the very least, Mechanist should really have the healing toolbelt skill available. In the case of the Medkit, you can't access Bandage Self. It really feels bad. Anet could easily have your heal toolbelt skill occupy F1 like usual, and swap over all the pet stuff and the summon/dismiss button over one number. Furthermore, I think that, if the Mechanist doesn't have access to toolbelt skills while the mech is away, they should be able to access weapon swap. This spec can suffer from some serious "nothing-to-press-itis" sometimes. Also, make the mech work underwater. When you're underwater, you're literally worse than core engineer.
    Apart from that, this spec plays really well and seems incredibly fun. It probably won't usurp Renegade as the alacrity provider since Ren can give 10 targets alac, while this spec only offers 5-target. Will make the alacrity slot in fractals easier to fill, though!

  • @KeramatZMode
    @KeramatZMode 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I personally like it, and your opinion resonates with mine.
    Just please let us customize our mech. Make some side quest to get custom parts, like ranger taming pets, and let us dye the color because we're competing with necros with their green effects. We're engineers.
    And another thing is that, I do FEEL like an actual engineer class. Back then turret was hyped as something for engineer to sit back and let his "DPS job" getting done by his invention and at the end engi has one of the most frustrating piano rotation to stay ahead in the DPS curve. THIS, is what turret engi should feel like. Just rework the turrets anet.

  • @simple7319
    @simple7319 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    About the toolbelt :
    the thing is that the toolbelt was supposed to compensate for the inability to swap weapon so if you only replace it by a pet the engineer will be lacking something and become an inferior version of the ranger.

  • @FinalShieldnobi
    @FinalShieldnobi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I feel like the core in the middle of the mech should change colors depending on the grandmaster traits, and maybe the shoulders for the master tier? Something like that would let people know what kind of mech it is at a glance :)
    As an engineer main, I've enjoyed all kinds of builds over the years. I'm with you on the general dislike of the grenade kit tho. I can deal with it slightly by double tapping the 1-5 skills to quick throw nades at my feet, but at longer ranges they really feel janky. A solid P/P condi holo build with Laser Disk, Rocket Boots for it's toolbelt skill and maybe Thumper Turret for toolbelt stun break might be something you'd very much enjoy! Check it out sometime ^^

    • @MasterOfNoneGaming
      @MasterOfNoneGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will definitely revisit engineer after this beta! I'm having so much fun playing mechanist currently that I might even tolerate the occasional grenade spam lol
      And yeah, some clear visual indication of how your mech is built would not only be cool but also might be good for pvp as well, so you know what you are up against.

  • @mapledayes
    @mapledayes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Maybe having your final trait choice change some aspect of the mechs colors would be good? Pink, white, and green Jade could still work. It would add more customization based on trait choice, and seriously the image you showed of the mech legion was hilarious. Makes me appreciate how rangers who choose a cat get like five different cat looks xD
    As an original engineer main, I gotta say try doing some slightly off meta engineer stuff. I never liked using the grenades and flamethrower gets boring, but I've been plenty effective and carried allies in T4 as vanilla, scrapper, and especially Holo.

    • @MasterOfNoneGaming
      @MasterOfNoneGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This spec made me definitely want to revisit the other engineer specs as well since I love both Holo and Scrapper in terms of theme!
      And yeah I would take any Mech customization Anet can give us but having the colors change based on GM traits would be pretty sweet.

    • @mapledayes
      @mapledayes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MasterOfNoneGaming Have you ever done the protection Holo variants? I spent years using berserker gear + sword/shield with heal turret, hard light arena, thumper turret, and whatever elite you want. I forget the other utility, might have been elixir gun? The protection cleansing, cleansing converting condi to boons, and overall shenanigans of it are just super fun. PvE, fractals, and pvp, without having to juggle around grenades or a flamethrower.

    • @MasterOfNoneGaming
      @MasterOfNoneGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't played engineer in so long, so probably not. I only played it during the vanilla days to pull and push people off the old Skyhammer map and Edge of the Mists :D
      Other than that only a couple hours of Holo PvP during the PoF beta and of course recently for the level up challenge video. It does sound like a fun build though!

      @@MasterOfNoneGaming ahhhh old skyhammer. Do you remember the pvp map that had water portions? What an absolute throwback. Stunlocking on engi is just as fun as ever though. Recently in pvp I've been doing something of a sinister pistol pistol scrapper that's just.... It's the heckin ZOOMIEST thing, Master of None. Superspeed for days, rocket boots, the thing just isn't pinned down. Runs around points raining condi and then dashing off to help another. Is it meta? Probably not. Is it some of the most recent fun I've had in GW2 in awhile? Absolutely.

    The reason Mesmer mains don’t like Virtuoso is not the loss of clones. They don’t compensate the loss in any way. The new shatters they gave us worse than core ones in every way.

    The trade of toolbelt for mech is fine as long as the mech is there. Your just too weak without it, including underwater. Letting you have the to toolbelt skills when your mech is repairing would make it feel alot fairer.

    • @MasterOfNoneGaming
      @MasterOfNoneGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I can see the reasoning behind that. My mech never died in PvE though and only in big team fights in PvP. So I'm not sure if you had a different experience there.
      I'll have to assume that Mechanist is pretty useless in WvW since pets insta die there anyway.

    When I first started playing, I wanted to main engi.. Building turrets and using the rifle was so fun to me... Until I found out that the meta is using bombs and grenades... I hated it and switched to another class.. Why do I have a legendary weapon, if I use bombs and grenades 99% of the time? I really hope the mech meta actually uses your weapons...

    If i could have a flame legion fire construct skin on the mech i would never play any other class ever again. Also one main thing why i never really have enjoyed the engineer is the grenade kit i just do not enjoy the kit at all and most annoying part is how crappy turrets have always been.
    I am also not really convinced about mech AI as pets are always what is a turnoff for me on pet classes the constant micromanaging is just annoying in a long run.

    Why all of you are celebrating this class so much. Its just another stupid pet class. The only thing what will happen is that we (engineers) will be nerfed. Soon after the release this pet will be so useless in pvp and wvw. Instead of doing something totally new like new weapons, new mechanics we will have just another pet class. Even the necessary toolbelt skills are gone. It is so disappointing to me.

    • @MasterOfNoneGaming
      @MasterOfNoneGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Different strokes for different folks. I have no doubt that it will be useless in anything but super small scale wvw but you'll still have holo or scrapper for that. It was just fun to play in casual pve content and if it is good for fractals or strikes as well I'd be happy.
