The song was on the original album called Dear Agony, which has the brain scan. Ben did say he wanted to "drink himself to death" when he was an alcoholic in an interview which is why you picked up on the song sounding almost suicidal. This version is on Aurora which is a album they did and stripped down some of their songs. It's all good you picked this one, I love this version too! Shoot, I love ANYTHING Breaking Benjamin does 😊
Its one of those songs that, regardless of what your "faceless enemy is", is easily relatable to and really hits you right in the feels. I've battled with PTSD for many years and connected with the lyrics immediately. Both positively and negatively.
The brain scan pic was on the album cover. The Aurora versions of the songs on that album are revisited and rearranged songs from previous albums, most of which have guest vocalists, like the singer from Red, Scooter from Cold, and Adam Gontier from 3 Days Grace/Saint Asonia. Great songs, great reaction!
This was a good duet for this particular song. Ben, because of his struggle with the bottle, and Lacy had planned on killing herself until her grandmother talked her into attending a church service, and she was saved. I'm sure that's where the energy in this song comes from.
This is the Aurora version. The original version is a lot more emotional and much “harder”

Ben decided at age 14 to drink himself to death. Thank God he didn’t succeed. I’ve met him several times and we have had some good talks about depression and chronic illness. He’s a great guy, very down to earth and kind.

This is a remake of the original. They put out an album of all new remakes of their greatest hits. I believe it's called aurora
"Give me a sign" and "ashes of eden" is my fav from their songs.. ☺

Maybe I'm wrong maybe I'm not but I thing the ''enemy'' is what makes him drink (his demons) and i think you might only perceive the top portion of it, hope you get better
I know that M. Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) has had an issue with his vocal chords and decided at one point to stop screaming in his songs. I have no idea if something like that happened to Benjamin though...
More Breaking Benjamin, and throw in some Shinedown and Skillet.

This is a different version, but I like Lacey Strum so it was a nice twist for me.
This is alot softer than most BB songs if this is your first time hearing them.
Obviously Diary of Jane is super popular. So Cold is one of my personal favorites, but I can honestly put a BB album on and listen to it front to back and love it all.
If you want some of their harder stuff look at the Ember album. There is even 3 part story across 3 songs, all with music videos, that tell a whole story and it's awesome (but they are pretty "hard" songs compared to something like this version of Dear Agony.
I think the singer you're thinking of was Chester Bennington. I believe he had vocal surgeries maybe midway in Linkin Park's career.

The reason he sounds exactly like he used to is because his vocals for this track are the original vocals from the original master of this song. Ben did not re-do any vocals for the recent acoustic album that this version comes from.
It's about accepting agony, and your enemy within...... Songs dope, don't try to construct some crazy shit about it... Grab a beer and chill
No disrespect intended here but this one just did not hit me the same as other emotional songs from other bands/artist. I liked it but for some reason it did not have the emotional impact for me that other songs I've heard.
