I skated this park back in the mid 90's and Mike was there that day. We took a picture with him and he signed our decks. What a great guy he was,a real class act and great for the sport like Tony Hawk and Steve Caballero.
I'm a lucky survivor because of SKATEBOARDING. Think of having a HEAD INJURY. Especially like having 3 surgeries inside of your own cranium and being in a COMA for about eight months.
I spent a few summers at this park w/ all those big dogs, it's amazing how much they helped us get better! I remember how much fun it was to skate w/ Jason Jesse, Danny Way, Steve Steadham, Reese Simpson, Bod Boyle and McGill the list was endless! I was 15 and Danny Way seemed like a little shrimp, a year younger, learning mctwists. He was fearless! Thanks for posting!
Man I loved this place. The bell would ring at school and we'd all pile into the back of the truck and head out from Poway to skate until dark. Fun times
I still have a bran new board of yours, and and the Powell mini ratt wheels I'm 44 now,I can still ride the ramp but the falls hurt twice as bad but back in the 80's all I had was your board and that ugly ass vision board.a good friend of mine Philip hajal got sponsored and I never herd from him again but he had a ramp at his house we all used
Dude had a lot of balls to even try a 540 in the air. Like Rodney said in the Bones Brigade doc, that you’re basically laying it all on the line for a possible life in a wheelchair? McGill will always be one of my favs, because of that. Plus his board graphics rocked too!!!
I was this guys biggest fan back in the day. All tha way downunder Sydney Australia. Remember when he came on tour with the Bones Team. Got Mike to sign my McGill Powell Peralta Deck. Awesome memories.
Mike McGill was always one of my favorite skaters back in the day. Along with Mike Vallely, Rodney Mullen, Jeff Grosso (RIP), Jason Jesse, Rob Roskopp, Steve Cabellero, Christian Hosoi, Tony Hawk (gotta show love and respect to one of the absolute goats), Lance Mountain, and one of the last skaters that I liked was Bucky Lasek. Those were the good old days of skating. Always remember, Skateboarding Is Not A Crime 🚫 lol
And before that, he had a halfpipe ramp at P&R Sod company in New Port Richey that we used to skate. I went to High School with mike, we skated alot together back before he went pro.
Still have my autographed Hawk board from 1987 when I met the Bones Brigade. These kids in this video probably have kids today, and tell them how they skated with the Mickey Mantle of skating...For the young ones, look up Mickey Mantle for the baseball reference 👌😉
I remember skating this park 29 years ago when I was 15. There was an old dude in his 60's that used to skate the ramps. He had frizzy red hair. He was cool. It was bizarre though.
Is my favorite skater of all time, and the board Mcgill was the best, can you beleive the original mcgill board goes for 600 or more depending on how mint it is.
As far as I know McGill was never much of a street skater so when street skating took over in the early 90s he, like most pros of the '80s became has been status. He did start 'new school' team Chapter 7 but i don't think it lasted very long. I remember I had a pair of Chapter 7 baggy shorts back then but had no idea McGill founded the company.

I remember watching this and recording it from the television onto my vcr back in the day.
I remember those days. You were lucky if you saw skateboarding on TV more than twice a year.
Same!.. I watched Sk8 Tv religiously!..
Same here
I still skate my McGill to this day and I'm 42 years old...
Is it the old straight sided or shaped?
DUNEYXZ I’m the same age and grew up in Orlando. I skated to n Mikes board and my brother had Tony’s board. So many good memories.

Christian Jackson what did you mention about that you your self in past did fall seriously on skateboard or what was it ?
Im 43 from Madrid Spain and still have my Mcgill deck from 1988!!!
His Mctwists are so perfect!
when its your trick anyway you do it its perfect!
He was never the most consistent at them but when he did them right, yes, his looked the best to me, and to this day.

McGill is a skater 😂😂😂
FAMOUS?
You've been famous for almost 40 years, like in THRASHER MAGAZINE. I'd read lots of them in the 80s era.
Dude had a lot of balls to even try a 540 in the air. Like Rodney said in the Bones Brigade doc, that you’re basically laying it all on the line for a possible life in a wheelchair? McGill will always be one of my favs, because of that. Plus his board graphics rocked too!!!
I just bought a mike mcgill retro 80s skateboard I'm 58 and I can still ride 😂 my grandson says grandpa how do you know how to ride so good 😆 lol
High five to all the 50 somethings still gettin' it done. Right with you.
I had a Bones Rip deck back in the day. Was thinking about buying a copy of one.
I was this guys biggest fan back in the day.

Got Mike to sign my McGill Powell Peralta Deck.
Awesome memories.
Take me back bro
the McTwist is the most awesome trick ever!
That 720 is CRAZY!
Mike did the best McTwists. I loved how he'd do them upside-down. Everyone else just spun 540°. His were so perfect looking.

So glad to see this again. Made my day !!!!!

Rip it dude
He still rips at 55 and has a skateshop in Encinitas,California. He's a genuinely nice guy.
@@buckodonnghaile4309 Yup, Mike had a great disposition when I met him. Just a gentle natured human being, very pleasant.
At the same time he also had an indoor skate park in Oldsmar FL near Tampa. It had a replica of the spine and hip transfer ramp.
And before that, he had a halfpipe ramp at P&R Sod company in New Port Richey that we used to skate. I went to High School with mike, we skated alot together back before he went pro.

Man I remember this video when it aired lol
Rip it, dude!
this rules. i feel like i'm 10 again. i watched this show religiously back in the day.
Mike’s 720’s were insane 👏
Had no idea he could do them! Thought only Hawk and Way were pulling crazy spins like the 720 in the late 80’s?
That would be cool if McGill’s skatepark was still around
My favorite back in the 80s....
I used to skate there and watch the motocross track next door
Old but gold
wow i almost 4 got about sk8tv thanks so much
0:42 So much support from your fellow shredder when you're skating a Bowl

I bought one of your powel peralta boards from the early 1980s fo 5.50 euros last year.
Result 😂
Why didn't Mcgill do a 720 in contests when he was abel to do them?
What do you mean? He did do them in contests.
@andrianc3g Wow that is amazing! It was my dream as a kid to experience what you just said. Those were the days!

Astro Skate Tarpon Springs. Home of Mike McGills skate shop.
Actually his shops were in New Port Richey, his first one was on the corner of US 19 and highway 54.
@saifulizhan he didn't always go out on the location interview segments but he still hosted the show.
Que tiempos
You can call this the precursor to Life with Ryan or Rob and Big.
Versatile .
Who do you think made the name of the McTwist?
Mike McGill.
Wonder if the vertramp is part of the animal chin ramp🤔
Vine por la firma del precio de la historia 😂
What happened to Mike during the street beat in the 90's? i think he had the worst case of Vertosis.
Was this from Sk8 tv?
Wait a second I never saw anyone do backside nose grinds on vert and pop in like that back then ......HUH ? Did I really see that ?
Where was the skatepark Mike Mcgill Alguieb know?
Personally I got worried
I broke my arm on my first Miguel skateboard 🛹
Stacey Peralta invented, but he did it as a slide. I wonder if Mike can do it like Stacey did, sliding in a half pipe.
cross between cam newton n rob schneider
no no way holmes, more like the mark gonzalez
he looks and talks exactly like Tony Hawk
The audio doesn’t sync with the video
LonerSurfer because I captured this 8 years ago on a $20 capture card.
