    The whole series is incredible dude. The explanations are understandable, you give examples, coherent, the digital writing plays a big part on the previous things mentioned. The audio sucks sometimes but this is ignorable: it only sucks for one or two seconds (five at the most maybe) when it happens. It is a 9.98/10 series.

      I'm glad the audio wasn't too big of a problem and it's great to hear that you enjoyed this series. Thanks for taking the time to comment with your questions and feedback and I hope you find my other videos helpful as well!

    This is a fabulous video--thank you! One quick comment, though--your captions are accurate, but if I click on the English transcript I get the transcript for a totally different video. Thought you'd want to know :)

      Hi Rachelle, you're welcome and thanks for letting me know!
      If you're referring to the built-in YT transcript box (click the ... under the video) it may be showing the auto-generated captions not the corrected ones but you can switch this by clicking the arrow at the bottom. For me this box shows the correct transcript for this video so it could just be a random TH-cam error that refreshing the page might correct.
      If you're referring to the transcript page here: www.psychexamreview.com/ethical-guidelines-for-psychological-research/ it seems the embedded TH-cam subscribe button was causing some problems with the text that followed it but I think I've fixed that now.

    Why are people coerced into participating in tutorials at university otherwise they fail?

    This video help me understand the APA Ethical Guidelines. I was able to take my own notes. Im currently taking PSY/245 and a question that was asked was. Why have these guidelines proved to be controversial when conducting research? Honestly I dont see them as controversial. You mind giving me some input on this?

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A lot of controversy in research ethics usually focuses on animal studies and the risk of harm or death that lab animals may face.
      When it comes to more mundane human studies, there is disagreement and debate on how some of the guidelines may slow research and create unnecessary barriers to collecting data quickly or from larger samples. The process of getting IRB approval for studies like questionnaires, assessments, or self-reports still takes time and researchers may sometimes feel that their time is wasted completing forms and ethics reviews for studies that pose virtually no real risk to subjects.
      Other areas for consideration would be debating the amount of deception that's acceptable, whether completing an informed consent form increases the artificiality of the lab setting vs. real life, or whether larger risks should be acceptable if subjects are willing to consent to them. Hope this provides a few starting points to think about!

      PsychExamReview sorry for all the questions. These videos got me coming out with all types of questions. So for the next five weeks I will be asking questions. If that’s ok. What would you say is the primary goal for all psychological research?

    Hi, could i just ask, If a researcher is concerned about whether an experimental group will be susceptible to more risks when participating in a study than a control group, which ethical principle is the researcher concerned with?
    Is it the principle of beneficence or that of Justice?

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think this would fall under beneficence since it is related to the risk/benefit analysis for the manipulation being used.

      Thank you so much,
      I am however a little confused as to why this doesn't fall under the principle of Justice (with regards to the distribution of risks and benefits)

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aaronkoh4567 I can see it being debatable depending on who makes up the groups or what the manipulation is. My view of the APA guidelines is that justice pertains to who takes part in studies and access to information and resources but I'm not a researcher or an expert in this area and so this may not be the correct interpretation.
