is very different cause on the guitar base , thom yorke is already doing a bass base while doing chords , so this causes them to let the bass free to "walk" over the song
Iirc, it's written sometime around 94-95. I think there's a bootleg when they played it live when they gigged with Alanis Morrisette -- with a long outro centered around a greenwood keyboard solo. Like half of the tune isn't what what you've heard when 97 came along. Cool flex, especially around the time. Most good bands are either defunct or pretty much over (for many sad reasons).
It's written by five entire people, each of whom are an expert in their instrument and in their craft and of whom put lots of effort into their part. If you loved music with a passion and played it for hours a day, surely you would be able to come up with very intricate ideas, no?
@@jonnylpenman Intricacy and musicality are two different things though. Virtuosity doesn't equal good songwriting. I think they just plucked this one from the sky. It's an amazing tune.
honestly, I was just watching paranoid android live and thinking jesus why is he not up there with Johnny his part is just as awesome as any guitarists.
Wow I didn't realise how many times he used the chromatic scale in this song. There's an art to making the chromatic scale sound interesting, massively under-rated band and awesome musicians
@@leecliff4762 underrated in the publics eyes but not in the critics. People were pissed when they got put into the rock an roll hall of fame but it was well deserved. I’m late to the party but THIS. IS. AWESOME! I’ve been a Radiohead fan since the 90’s and now as an old lady I finally got a bass. This is going to be my first conquest. Ambitious, but that’s how I learn best. Thank you so much for this!
Glad I found this - my friends and I are learning this. I've only been playing for just over a year with no lessons, so this one is seriously tough for me.
This channel is simply awesome. I've recently got back into playing bass and this channel has made me a better player and added so much enjoyment to my playing. Cheers. I'll be jumping on Patreon to support your good work!
One of the most underrated bass-lines ever. This bass-line appears to be in the background until you "listen properly" and then it reveals it's true genius. Well played and thanks for sharing.
Whst's that... What's that,! Man superb. I play flute, but .actually I love bassline. Wish i learn it one day. Good job pal! Respect straight outta Brazil!
I agree, the 1st solo is weird enough, but the 2nd solo is incoherent in some parts, it's basically Jonny Greenwood going nuts, too much phaser making it almost impossible to replicate
You have great videos. Played with skill and tabs are correct! Thank you. This video helped me a lot with the song, we're playing this song with our conservatory band :)
Hey CoverSolutions! Could you ever do a cover of "Divinations" by MASTODON? Or better yet (bass-wise) would you consider covering "Roundabout" by YES? Also, thanks for your awesome covers! I don't play bass, but it is awesome to watch you play. Thanks for your content!
been playing bass a long time can play pretty much all of bostons stuff perfectly love them along with aerosmith and alot of other bands those 2 just my main foucus lol. idk what it is with radiohead but alot of there stuff i just cannot do looking at tabs and such they dont look hard but alot of the timeing esp this song feel so weird with full band gj with this cover man.

Colin Greenwood is a monster, check out other basslines by him, like 15 steps, karma police or my iron lung. Very underrated talent!
@@nique21nue the karma police bassline is so epic
Helo, what a good cover did you get, I also got a song by radiohead, I hope you like it and the channel has many more covers and I hope you'll join me
you weren't listening
This is one of those songs where I simply can't understand how they wrote it. There's so much to it.
They took common death metal harmonics and made a pop song out of it. An outstanding one though.

massively
He doesn't give a toss bout attention just does what he does....
@@chuckabbate5924 why bassists are the superior musicians. They play for the music, not the fame
And that’s an understatement! The guy is a genius
all the musicians from Radiohead are so good!
With Colin keeping things low profile, to best serve the music...never over-playing... just enough goods!!
I don't wanna brag but I'm pretty sure I absolutely nailed 3:30-5:38
post a a cover of that section or I won't believe you
i nailed the intro😎
Dude it is not hard to play. More hard to remember because of the complexity.
the replies are r/woosh
Yea u did
The Rain Down Section is pretty difficult...

idk if they're underrated haha. They're like one of the highest rated bands of the nineties and of modern music... maybe in public opinion?
Define “underrated band” and how did you associate that with radiohead

@@maxduvall9055 I take that comment back. Kid A is pretty experimentel, but not so jarring that it would put most people off.
Colin Greenwood is one of the most underrated bassists.
Damn Micah, I see your comments in every video related to Radiohead, you must be a real hardcore fan.
Carlos Dengler 😩💦
Not as good as The Flea.
You're ready to join a rock band once you've mastered this bass line

I've never concentrated on the bass line of this song : it actually adds beautiful harmonics and suits the song pretty well

OMG LEGENDARY PROPOSAL
Easily my favourite Radiohead song. This song has its only special weird feeling
My head cannot comprehend the complication during the mid song
Fantastic! Have you ever tried Subterranean Homesick Alien? It's a very tricky line and for me the most beautiful.
Subterranean Homesick Alien?
+John Wanderin I think that's what he meant 😂
Yes! you are right. My apologies.
I eddited my question. Thank you!
It's a great song though, probably one of my favorites by Radiohead
