    "When a plan comes together"
You guys are young, but us 80's kids get it. It's an A-TEAM reference. The original actor who played "Starbuck" in the OG, went on to play "Face" in the A-TEAM.
"I love it when a plan comes together" was said in literally every single episode.
Edit: The last shot of Six and the Admiral in the main season episodes:
    -Admiral- "Frack you.
    -Six- "You're not my type".

Husker is Bill's call sign. When you mention "that's what they call all the spies. Remember in that other episode?" you were thinking of Bulldog on the comms calling out "Husker Husker Husker this is Bulldog". He was calling out for Bill cause Bill was his commander at the time he went "missing"

It’s a turn based ship combat game and essentially you’ll be taking turns at the same time against enemies and the fight plays out between turns. When the game is over then you’ll get a replay of the game but they’re using aggressive camera angles like they do in the shows combat scenes btw on one of story missions you have to escort a ship that’s taking the doctor in the show to sagittaron.

A commander never has a civilian to instill them with common sense. It's no excuse. This would literally never happen in real life and if it did, that officer would be court martialed and without question would be fucked. The military serves the constitution. Period. A lot of morons in real life right now in the USA don't get that part, for example.

The Razor webisodes that came out shortly before have more of young Adama in the first Cylon War, but not so much that I think you guys need to go back and watch them. The important stuff is in the broadcast version, which I think is the version y'all watched? The uncut version has some more of them as well. Might Be worth revisiting the rest of the webisodes on you r own time, however. They're good. The guy playing young Adama was great casting.

  • @neutchain7838
    @neutchain7838 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

In my opinion this movie is the crown jewel of BSG when it comes to action. They really put the effort in and showed us a lot of cool fights. Some really nice scenes with the Pegasus as well, when they land and it shows the inverted flight deck was really cool. The Pegasus never had Baltar's CNP installed, she was down for a refit and they were planning to install it when the attack happened. I always liked Cain's character, yes she is a hardass and did terrible things but such a good character and played perfectly by Michelle Forbes. Another standout in this was obviously Stephanie Jacobsen ( Kendra Shaw ). She is great in everything I've ever seen her ( Sarah Connor Chronicles stands out ) and I wish she was in the main show an have more screen time but her storyline was neatly wrapped up so its all good.
I have to say this version is bad it misses some important stuff. I noticed two scenes missing and I think one of them is really important.
    1. An amazing battlescene when the Battlestar Columbia gets destroyed. That's how Adama ends up on a planet, he was in his fighter in a space battle and was chasing a hostile down. Super cool scene I dont know why did they cut it out.
    th-cam.com/video/IfyNUhomMoU/w-d-xo.html
    2. When Cain talks to Shaw about becoming a Razor and that you have to leave people behind in order to move forward there is a flashback to her childhood. It adds contextto some of her decisions ( and another layer ) to her character.
    th-cam.com/video/PZK6eVACoIg/w-d-xo.html
This is the two I've noticed but there might be more ( also not sure if you guys cut it out or it was missing ).
Really fun stuff, on to season 4. :)

During wartime and facing complete extinction, I'd have done the same thing Cain did. Take whatever and whoever you need. Institute a civilian draft, but i would not have abandoned anyone. Condense them into the Pegasus and a handful of civilian ships, take them with you. And i don't think executing experienced first officers is a good idea. Maybe strip him of rank and throw him in the brig if he refused an order. But Cain should have known better and been tactically aware enough to retreat from that situation in the first place. That's Cains primary issue she's too headstrong and unwilling to see the obvious.

I’m usually pretty ambivalent about extended versions. Most of the time, the cut stuff was cut for a reason, but there are some neat extra things. In this case, the only thing of substance you lose is a bit more context for Cain’s ruthlessness. She knows of what she speaks when she talks about leaving people behind for the sale of survival, and while it doesn’t excuse her actions, it does explain how she is able to continually justify herself in her actions.

It appears you guys have never seen (but heard of) the original 1978 BSG (now also called Classic BSG), which seems understandable since you guys look like Millennials or Gen-Z. Yes, those are the original Raider ships. It's a nice homage. Heck, the whole 2003 show is a nice homage to the original, many classic details made it through to the new version such as "Frak" & the original intro music theme. In fact, the new crescent-shaped Raiders & the human-looking Cylons actually originated from both "Galactica 1980" (failed lower-budget 2nd season of original BSG) & the 1999 concept trailer "The Second Coming" by the original Apollo actor Richard Hatch (who became Zarek here in the 2003 BSG version). Thus these concepts were not new/made for the 2003 version. And if you probably didn't already know, the 2003 reimagined version actually would have never happened if it weren't for Richard Hatch. I think you should do a future reaction to the pilot episode of the original BSG, where the original story basics is the same, an invasion & holocaust by Cylons.

Interestingly, Razor never aired in NZ. I had no clue it even existed until I ordered the DVDs from the States a couple of years later. Talk about a delightful treat! So I've never been invested in the 'where to watch it in the timeline' argument. It adds great depth to the Pegasus storyline that was missing from S2, it gives a great military reason for Bill to have been the commander given the mission that sent Bulldog over the line, and I can assure you that *not* watching it doesn't hurt the main BSG story.
This is another time when Tricia Helfer astonishes by being another completely different incarnation of Six. It never fails to blow my mind that before BSG she'd never acted at all. There are 'names' in tv and movies that I don't think could have done such a great job in making these identical people have recognizable individual aspects.
A couple of other commenters have said it already, but I'm going to repeat it because it's important. 'Harbinger' is *usually* given a negative overtone, but it isn't inherently a negative word - It's another way of saying messenger (and in fact is used here and there in the Bible to describe Angels), just like 'Herald'. 'Herald' used to be a job title. The person who would 'announce' the arrival of guests, or 'announce' that a party should move to a dining room for a meal during a ball/event. The Hybrid also doesn't use the words death, destruction, glory, home, Earth, or disaster - Starbuck is the announcer of Humanity's "end." - definition tbd.
TL:DR The Hybrid's words about Starbuck are more nuanced than assumed.

Husker is Bill Adama's callsign, you see it on the tail of the restored Viper at the start of the miniseries and that Lee then pilots.
I've always advocated for watching Razor after 2x17 The Captain's Hand for what you learn from Shaw's conversation with the Hybrid has no context at that point and is so vague it can't give anything away, especially since you'll need to watch S4 to learn more.
I do love the portrayal of Cain here, you see that within a working society she's a good if stern commander but once that's taken away and Pegasus is on its own she turns into a psychopath, justifying her killing of her friend and XO, and the murder of civilians as necessary to maintain discipline and to continue fighting.
I hope you guys watch the webisodes, they add a lot more context for the last days of the first Cylon war.

The thing with Razor is that it sets up the plot in season 4, and to tell its story it uses much of the concepts that ware fleshed out in season 3. That is why it is best to watch it between season 3 and 4, and not after Captain's Hand, as its chronologically in the shows timeline.
