The oil is not hot, that's why
and use self raising flour to tell the milk or the water to be warm, not cold. The puff puff is good.

Welldone. You got everything right except for over mixing it again after the yeast had acted and it had risen. By running your hands through it too much you removed all the air pockets in the batter. That air is what would have made them float.
They still came out quite nicely.
