I agree with you, Father. I have listened to Peterson for several years now, and have loved his talks on the bible. I have always been worried that not many Catholics would give him their ear. Thank you for seeing in the man what I have always seen. He is speaking to the youth and tells them that they need God in their lives. His wife has gone back to the Catholic Church.
I've seen him three times now. Took my son all three times and he was enthralled. Yes, like being in class, but a very interesting class where thinking useful for our times is expounded upon. He speaks more truth than my Bishop and Peterson isn't even Catholic. The seculars like Peterson are going to save humanity by speaking to the men because the Bishops won't.
Jordan Peterson was a comforting voice at the start of the Diversity ideology rollout in Corporates about 10 years ago. He helped me understand its origins and agenda, and that I wasn't a 'bad' person because it felt wrong.
Drink..it's complex.I drank with Irishmen on the Kilburn High Road in the 1960s. Sundays ,the pubs opened from midday to 2pm. These men emerged from their squalid bedsits after spending the week up to their ankles in mud digging trenches. It was hard to blame them . An English friend of mine who lived in Kilburn used to refer to the Black Lion pub as The Irish Legation. There the men met others of their own kind, sussed out where the best work was to be found and whether Galway would beat Mayo in the football final. In fairness a lot of them would have attended morning Mass in Quex Road.
@@FINTZZZwell JP is doing his best. He has only got his money in his later years, at least with his money he is now helping others, he is brilliant I think. Yes I think of those poor Irish in London and new York and other places.
Back to Ireland in August for a holiday, brought a couple of French friends into the Temple Bar district, they insisted, I didn't want to. It was Saturday night. The sheer embarrassment of it..😣
I first watched a Jordan Peterson youtube video wanting to know why liberal media seemed to dislike him but honestly I ended up binge watching loads more of his videos on many different topics, thought he was a fantastic speaker.
I don't buy the mainstream papers, so was there a word about this event in those papers or the television news.? I would have gone if I had known. Meanwhile there was wall to wall coverage of that chap with the guitar playing his gigs in Croke Park.
Peterson has been teaching for nearly 30 years. Preparing and presenting complicated ideas and subjects for thousands of classes. He is well read and well spoken but the truth is that many an academic or preacher can do the same thing. It’s the salience of his topics that seem to grab ppl. He is asking important questions that relate to the daily struggles of individuals. He gets this also for many years of clinical work. My only issue with JP is his self righteous attitude that slips out. This mostly happens in conversation with others and in interviews. His talks are carefully crafted. Also he seems to be promoting right wing talking points excessively. It leads me to think that he is now working with right wing think tanks as a sort of recruiting agent for the right. He makes the over simplified characters of the left that totally miss represents our viewpoints. His promotion of capitalism is obnoxious as he wears his $150k suits. We know that Rush Limbaugh ms show hardly made a dime. He was propped up the whole time by right wing think tanks and personally made hundreds of millions funded by their billionaires. JP sounds like he is following a talking point script just like Limbaugh. I suggest he has sold out. And he has definitely sold out the working class that have been systematically impoverished by corporate and banking greed. Why doesn’t he talk about that? Why doesn’t he mention the connection with 75% of the population living from paycheck to paycheck without $400 in the bank for an emergency? Now that’s a real crisis. Not LGBT issues. I want him to talk about the systemic enrichment of the management class off the destroyed lives of workers who are dying in unprecedented numbers by drinking drugging and suicide. If he actually gave a damn about 75% of the population then he would address he crisis that is their lives. But no, his corporate buddies wouldn’t like that would they? He’s a sell out. It’s clear and plane to see for any thinking person. He is creating distraction and sowing division for his masters.
In fairness to him he endured a nervous breakdown a couple of years ago...the constant abuse and targeting from woke audiences eventually taking their toll...a prominent columnist "Wished him death".. I'm astonished that his suits are that expensive..how can a suit cost that much?
Jordan is great for a lot of people on a lever but lacks a real understanding for people with hidden disabilities for example autism which many people have but don’t even know that have it and struggle with confusion or people with deep depression that can not clean their room, often people who don’t understand this lacks compassion for these people causing more pain and shame for them many die by suicide, it’s a spectrum and is not black and white the ranges from Elon musk to people who can’t do anything for themselves, also he might be on the spectrum himself and his daughter which would make sense, I would love him to look into this more to help ppl who need the most help
I just happened, by chance, to come across your podcast....and was flabbergasted. An Irish priest sounding off - it's about time! When you consider that we're the island of saints and scholars just how apathetic, silent, non-reactive, defensive, compliant our Catholic laity have become - and maybe some of our priests as well? When you look down at the pews at Mass, on Sunday or weekdays, what do you see? All these adjectives in the congregations.. I just do not believe this is the typical Irish psyche. Irish people are opinionated, vocal, argumentative etc. May I suggest that our Irish priests start to voice their opinions and encourage the laity to voice theirs. May God continue to bless your ministry and may more Irish priests follow your example. I'm NOT suggesting a lurch towards the Left. Our Church and its tenets and traditions has stood the test of time but inter-communication between priests and the laity can only be good.
I think that is one of his mistakes. He does make some errors, but I find 95% of what he says as valid and I recognise that I will not find an intellectual or thinker who is 100% in lign with my views. I do think the gay 'marriage' thing was somewhat influenced by his colleague Dave Rubin who is gay and 'married'. But Peterson is on shaky ground as he will find it harder to justly rail against the fantasy that is transgenderism if he has already approved the fantasy of 2 men being equal to a married man and woman, husband and wife.
@@solaris6070 there has been such hoopla lately about Peterson and how he is converting to Catholicism, and I'm thinking humm, not so fast, there are so many catholic converts that I have noticed are actually still protestant in their thinking and I find error in what they say or they don't have a Catholic understanding or historical knowledge of the faith and im just not ready to seek out and find out what they have to say. I'm really rather disappointed because I have and wanted to continue to give to father Brendan and now I just don't feel good about it.

Hi father, what do you think of the ethnic replacement of the Irish people in their own country and the fear of talking about this elephant in the room of being called the scary "R" word. Should we as a people allow the slow genocide of our people in our homeland or should we take a stand?
Me personally I think there are two ways of looking at it (1). Deliberate replacement (this is what many of the "far right" groups claim) (2). Accidental replacement, this is my view, that our population replacement through abortion and the expense of buying a home etc is making child rearing unattractive. We aren't reproducing enough, but that won't stop many of these immigrants reproducing. It's on us as Irish people to reproduce, if we won't others will.
@@jaqian ya but we aren't staying still as a population we are increasing at a rapid pace due to mass immigration, which makes housing more expensive and crime rate higher which would naturally deter the natives from having kids. Most Irish don't want it but it is enforced on them anyways. Define far right, look into the Kalergi plan and you will see this is deliberate. It is replacement nevertheless and Irish people should fight to oppose their demise as they did in the past.

I have a question for you….. can online mass and communion suffice for a plenary indulgence?
How can one receive Communion online? Pretty sure the answer to your question is “No”.
It doesn't fulfill your Sunday obligation so I doubt it would meet the criteria for a plenary indulgence
