I always enjoy watching people experience Africa for the first time. I can relate to having grown up in a beautiful environment with no first time experience to appreciate...but for me, it's Africa, having been born and raised in Kenya and living now in Tanzania. But I never get tired of it. This video pictured my life, well, except for the luxury lodges.😊 The people, the places, the wildlife...Africa is more home to me than my passport country of America.
I did experience your part of the world briefly some years ago and I will never forget that. It is truly beautiful and majestic and you are blessed to live in such a stunning place.

Oh man I love Africa its so epic! Never been to Serengeti though, which I guess this might have been. Got the big five though on my first trip in South Africa, the big cats are a special experience I have to say. When you lock eyes with a big cat at close range everything else seize to exist for a moment, its powerful! Great video Steve 👍

Great video Steve. I was invited by Fujifilm to film the Kenyan wildlife on a pre production X-T4 for the U.K. promotional launch video - my first trip - we were there 2 & a half days in March & I shot 500gb of footage - our guide Boston was amazing & I filmed the big five in that short period of time, however, the experience is far more than just 5 species, it’s the people, the megafauna & the privilege of being in the company of all the animals! Stay safe 😊

Steve what an amazing adventure. I don't know if I will ever make to Africa to photograph it. OK I know that I'm not in Yellowstone or the Teton's at much as you are (about 8 times a year). However each time that in there I go out of my way to photograph/experience something new. When I was a Park Ranger in Yellowstone. I always had people ask me "we are here for one week. What should we do"? Part of my response to experience your own time in the parks. The national world that we live in is truly an amazing place.

Not sure if its cheating but I was able to call in an Owl with an Owl call . Did get photo only 1 that was useable to me . Then got him/ Her to sing back at me . + bonus got 2 owls singing back and forth .
Missed my shot at getting one in flight . I think that's the hardest part .

It might bring you a little joy to know that while I’m watching this video, I am sitting around my campfire down the road from Jackson at a Bridger-Teton national forest campground waiting for Monday to come so I can begin my 4 month wildlife photography adventure to begin! I have been on some fantastic trips in my life, but my African Safari a couple years ago is at the top. I highly encourage anyone I see, or meet to go on an African Safari, if they ever have a chance. I feel very fortunate to have the time, and the money to have been able to do that. I took some fantastic pictures, well at least fantastic for me, that I will treasure for the rest of my life. After taking all the usual photos of lions, elephants, zebras etc, I started to get into all the colorful birds, and when I got home, and downloaded the pictures on my computer, I identified 40 different species of birds. I hope that we as a human race preserve these wonderful places, and animals so that many generations of the future have the opportunity to see those amazing animals.

One of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had was a long-deferred African safari, and you did a great job in this video of taking me back to the people, animals, scenes and emotions of that journey. I loved the way you began by saying that rarely do we remember that first great experience, like the first time you saw a bear in the wild, and how highly anticipated experiences sometimes disappoint, but I agree that everything about Africa and it’s many “firsts” seem indelibly and gratefully imprinted. I loved how you included so many different aspects of such a journey, from street scenes to photographic scenes, and especially how you conveyed the warmth and friendliness of the African people. Thank you, Steve!

It was so very strange seeing those stickers on a Tanzanian SUV in the middle of the Serengeti!

Outstanding video Steve, I have been waiting for this one and it didn't disappoint. One day I would like to have the same experience myself. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful trip and fantastic images.

So good man! I know that “for the first time” feeling you speak of, it’s a feeling we all chase. Experiences are what makes life special. Some amazing shots, I’d watch if you had a show on natgeo 😀
