I've heard that, if you were to put a mirror in front of one it would start bashing its own body against it in sheer aggression, thinking it's another beta fish of the same sex, injuring itself in the process.

I think I have an explanation for Bottom Feeders all having Bottom as their last name. It's possible that it's a reference to the Ramones, which is one of the first and most famous punk band in history, and guess what ? Every member used Ramones as their pseudo-last name. Plus Bottom Feeders is also a punk band despite their music being radically different so I think it makes sense.

Uhh, hi! I don't quite know where to put this but, I have this headcannon that an ink substitute exists in the splatoon world that allows non ink based people to play ink based sports. I believe this ink substitute would also be used in the deep sea metro as Iso Padre (I think that's his name) was also a contestant. How the substitute would work is similar to a normal gun, around the map there would be refills that would instantly adapt to the colour of ink the user is playing with. I don't quite know how the respawn would work but I just wanted to put my ramblings out there.
thats true, iso padre shouldve been able to try out the deepsea metro challenges SOMEHOW (unless he did the ink-free challenges, he did only finish 2 stations)
but yeah, i like that idea with refills around the stage!

Something else I thought of that potentially builds on this theory - in sunken scroll 15, Ammoses Shellendorf has his own ink tank and bamboozler (despite him not being an ink-based species), so either he knows a way to use ink weapons or he’s just carrying them because he can
The member of the bottom feeders with a weakness towards cute girls has a fedora and seemingly a neck beard. I just wanted to point that out.

I think it's really cute how Ink Theory match the vibe of their music by all being eccentric oddballs. Their distinct sound really made them my favorite band in Splat2, so I hope we get some more of it in 3.
2:16 my headcannon is that inklings and octolings could honestly have any color/pattern on their skin but most just choose to have human like skin tones.
Methinks that inklings and octos choose, prefer or maybe even need to mimic human skin/melanin to protect themselves from UV radiation, so if a ceph spends alot of time indoors or doesn't get enough sun exposure the rest of their bodies looks like their ink, or vice versa.
Although, the top of their heads is precisely where their ink colored skin is so maybe I'm talking out of my syphon.
My head cannon is that he isn't entirely an inkling, but a cross breed?

seaweed is a multicellular algae! plants have roots, can't survive submerged in saltwater. seaweed doesnt have roots and lives in saltwater.

@@TrinityCore60 that's because they used photosynthesis before plants made it cool, so they copied algae and expanded on their anatomy to adapt to land.
I tell you, the 'lore' of the kingdoms of the tree of life is a thing all in it's own.
@@GandalfTheTsaagan I figured plants evolved from algae; if algae was the photosynthetic organism that animals ate for sustenance, then it makes sense they would evolve into something that also matches that description, only better adapted for land.

Just checked wikipedia's pages on algae and plants and it turns out that plants are a very specific group of green algae, and that what we call algae as a whole is a very unspecific polyphyletic group that includes pretty much any photosynthetic eukaryote.
But re: how crazy is the extent of sapience in splatoon, it does not make it may better. Because this means that plants are just as viable as characters lol.
I suppose that this just reinforces that as long as it's aquatic it can pass as a person in-universe.
If salmonids are a key part of sploon 3 I can't imagine how janky there new music will be

Another great video! Can't wait to hear about my favorite band, Sashimori, next week. All I know about them is that there is a midget octoling named paul who is a DJ. Hence why they are my favorite. Can't wait to see if their lore!

Imagine being so considerate that you pride yourself in tasting good after you die. Does that count as body positivity? I have no idea! If this was an attitude throughout the entire world of Splatoon-like it was just considered a general curtesy long before modern inkopolis- everyone being named after good tasting food, and even dressing like that actually makes a lot of sense.
I love how this game really includes its music, like all the lore and stories behind the bands and the dance station in inkopolis

I have some things to say about Bisk maybe being DJ real Sole.
In all the renditions of “New You” in the shops, we can hear an apparent difference after we get to the second loop of the main theme.
For the Head Gear Shop we get like some meowing almost.
For the Clothing Shop we get some vocals along with a synth.
In the weapons shop we get a little (trumpet?) solo.
And in the shoe shop, which is Bisks shop, we get a nice electric guitar solo/ motif.
In the Sunken Scroll with Bisk in it, we see the music sheet for this specific solo. Alluding to Bisk writing it.
Every shops music matches with the Merchants vibe and aesthetic. So I would like to think that Bisk’s really cool and sleek vibe wrote that specific remix for his own store.
Anyway I love your video!! Please do one for Splatoon 3!!

If Splatoon 1 had more of a 90s feel to it’s sound, I’d define Splatoon 2 as being more…early 2000s, in a way. A lot of that is due to the bands in this game being less bombastic, and more experimental, pushing for something different from the regular rock. In a way, it’s probably a sound that Hightide Era might’ve helped start, given how they were described as the exception to the general “Guitar based” music.
Many aren’t huge on the music of this game, and I guess I understand that…but at the same time, I adore the more creative genre’s brought in with this change in style, with Celtic Rock and Jazz Punk being some really cool additions that I’d have loved to hear more of. And even Wet Floor’s more balanced sort of Ska-esque sound resonated with me more than I thought, being very catchy and using enough of that Squid Squad influence to make it perfect for Turf Wars. I’d also say Chirpy Chips’ new music was some of their best, drawing some influence from past bands in Splatoon 1, seemingly.
Overall, I just find there’s a lot to like about Splatoon 2’s offerings, not even counting Off The Hook in it, and I think the new bands are woefully underrated. Bottom Feeders especially. Love those guys.

Call me crazy but I really want a screamo rap group in the next splatoon something like Spider Gang but with Splatoon characters think it would be neat definitely if they had like in world splatoon style moshpits I think that would be sick ik for a fact screamo rappers like Jasiah, Nascar Aloe and Lil Darkie have moshpits where things get really crazy and I just wanna see if stuff like that exist in the splatoon world..hell more hip hop influence would be amazing just to see what it's like

I noticed something a while ago that you missed or something! The grizzco lobby theme “Happy Little Workers” sounds like it uses a very similar instrument as w-3’s songs, especially “Fractic Aspic,” but I might be be wrong. It’s not exact, but it does sound similar enough to signify a connection to me

You said Bottom Feeders were from “up north” right? There’s two ways I interpreted that. Either it’s north from Japan where I assume Inkopolis is located, or up north in general. If it’s the latter, then Bottom Feeders may be from Scotland, Ireland, or Canada (specifically Nova Scotia). Of course I could’ve missed something in the vid that contradicts this but whatever

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the inklings ink and skin color can change at will like a cuttlefish, so skin color for inklings and octolings is just an aesthetic choice, and changing your skin hair and eye color in the customization is like cannon that your still the same squid

There should be a Splatoon band that is dedicated toward making music that is in the style of the music played in Doom games. Or the kind in Cyberpunk 2077.

See, Bottom Feeders is the kind of chaotic Celtic punk energy like Dropkick Murphys that would be 100% appropriate to have a bar fight to, and I think that's beautiful. Fin totally captures the vibe, especially being a betta/Thai fighting fish.
I’m so hyped for new music and lore in splat 3!! I wonder if any of these existing musicians will be characters in-game?

It can be assumed yōk0 is in super form in some of the art because of the heavy wind that her tentacles seem to be going through. Maybe that’s how she plays trumpet so much
I think Kagi does have exactly what Rassicas said but maybe something else that could support it is that his ear and ankles are slightly brownish so maybe that’s his natural color
And maybe they didn’t mention why he’s blue in canon because it might be rude like almost asking a person why their skin is the way it is Yk?
