Oil change on the Mercury 40/50/60 HP models

I like to add oil into the filter to saturate the fabric pleats before putting the new 1 on so that the high pressure oil flow into the new filter doesn't tear the inside pleats. I also like to remove my oil fill cap before draining so there's not a vacuum created while draining. 1 last thing, running the engine for 5 minutes before draining makes the oil heat up & drain faster & thins it out so you get every last drop of old oil out of it. No it took about fifteen minutes to be completely drained
