the deal with devil might be her reaching out to eren 2000 years later- the true devil of this story.
@@dai-belizariusz3087 maybe but I'm more inclined to think the "deal with the devil" was her doing the king's bidding. The Marley people might not realize that Ymir was a slave so they believed she willing worked for the king and as such "sold her soul" to the devil.
I can't help but feel that this plot is somekind of Naruto type of shit, Ymir getting powers from a tree, she would then flourish her land then her abilities get transmitted to her daughters much like Kaguya, and suddenly Eren pulls an Obito 2000 years later, he influences Grisha to kill the royal family much like Obito who influenced Yagura to start the bloodline purge, and then pulls another Obito where his plan would be destroying the world with some kind of overpowered shit.
I have a feeling that Ymir is the actual mastermind and is going to come back, but how? Oh! Historia's having a kid?! Well that's good news! Hurray! REANCARNATION!!!!
The thing that attatched to ymir was the root of the tree Yggdrysl. The roots of yggdrysl are said to be the origins of life. Atleast that's what reddit was saying. Norse mythology stuff.

@@gyanprakash3671 theres actually 2 creatures near the root, the world serpent whose name I always forget and the dragon Nydhoggur, the dragon is sort of evil and gnaws at the root in an attempt to kill the tree, but I think its likely the serpent here because when ragnarok starts, the serpent is supposed to "come out of the ocean" (can imply ymir leaving the paths)

I saw this in another video, so basically; I think that the backbone that adhered to Ymir is the backbone of Mimir, the giant who guarded the waters of wisdom. This is a well that was located in the roots of "the tree of life", from which Ymir supposedly would have fallen. The legend says that the history of these legendary waters reached the ears of Odin, who visited Mimir. The giant refused to hand over its waters, so Odin offered a pact, and gave his eye to drink from these waters. It should be noted that Ymir no longer had an eye, which the tree would take as an offering and accept the fact that Mimir's spine joined with her and offered her that absolute power.

Attack on Titan became one of the greatest anime/manga solely because of the plot. It all started with a shallow atmosphere with humans trapped inside the walls with titans as the antagonists. Isayama is such a genius writer, he turned a good anime into such a masterpiece.

So when Ymir cried the tear of Eren on the first chapter is ymir's tear meaning that Eren and Ymir is connected and Eren saw the future
Curse of Ymir: Maybe she died after 13yrs and that's how long her descendants that inherit a titan power can survive.
Splitting in 9 instead of more: Maybe that's how many distinct powers she had
Eldians turning in mindless: At some point in the split the powers are too diluted to activate into a proper shifter so unless injected into some pure fluid they're just able to turn in mindless versions
The spine in the tree sort of mirrors the serpent that gnaws at the big tree in Norse mythos. I do hope for more in depth explanations down the line. I hope the story doesn't go in the direction where Levi will fight Eren.
Also hope to see how Ackermans came to be.

Levi being dead or not isn't really something that's up for debate... he's 100% alive.
I suspect this will be addressed in season 4 OVA of some sorts.
Was there even a possibility of him dying? That man is the ultimate Titan killer he will not die. Besides if he dies fans will literally rage quit the manga.

I'm wondering if eren is getting a new form to what if he does and the form resembles a hybrid of the warhammer titan founder titan and the attack titan
Think of the Titan powers and the Royal bloodline like this.
Start with the king and ymir
Then their 3 daughters (oldest is ruler, the other 2 are nobles)
Their children (say 3 kids for the 3 daughters of the king and ymir) eat their mothers to gain their titan powers. Now 9 Titan powers spilt amongst 9 people. (The oldest child of the oldest daughter of the king and ymir being the ruler and their cousins are 8 nobles because they have royal blood)
who knows...except for Isayama.
There have been a lot of comments on here that talk about how the root might be Yggdrasil, the world tree or something to that effect. I would like to further that by saying that in Norse Mythology, there are nine realms, just like there are nine titans. Further, several of the realms actually line up with several of the titans. Muspelheim is the World of Fire and home to fire giants and ruled by Surtr, who will burn Asgard to the ground during Ragnarok. This could relate to the Colossal titan, which is a literal nuclear bomb, and of which there are thousands in the walls set poised to destroy the world. Vanaheim is home to Vanir, who are known to be able to see into the future, like the Attack titan. Svartalfheim is home to the dwarves which are great smiths, which could relate to the Warhammer Titan. I'm not sure if this means anything or if it will go anywhere, though.

I think when they mentioned about the life span of a titan shifter before, they said that for Ymir the first titan lived for 13 years. Maybe those 13 years were the time that Ymir served for the king as a titan and the mother of the children before death and the nape became the weakness there?

Idk if this has been brought up yet but there’s an interview of Isayama saying the inspiration for AoT was based on a video game wherein aliens invade earth, so I always think about this when the topic of the “disembodied spinal cord” comes up. The "disembodied spine thing" was probably a left over part of an unknown being on the world of AoT that came from unknown lands.
It might have been a supernatural being, or an alien or even... if its possible to not only make conciousness travel back in time... it may be Eren that travelled back in time before he dies to leaves his spine for her to get attatched to.

Nah not even close, the king actually did what he believed he did best, and that is evolving his empire and secure the life of it's people, if he had to sacrifice one's life for his nation then so be it, the only reason he had Ymir impregnated was for the sole reason of their children inheriting the Shifting power, obviously that didn't work so he resorted to foul and inhuman methods, althought it doesn't excuse what he had Donne to Ymir but...well you got to do what you got to do, and he did it to be certain that Eldia will still have it's glory, that's a king way of thinking. A theory: Ymir may have seen into the future when that spear struck her. Eren can see into the past of and communicate with bearers of the attack titan. Ymir may be fair game for cross-time-communication as the originator of all titans, Attack included.
In their dying moments, Ymir and Eren spent a long time in the path-dimension. Ymir dies from her injuries because Eren sets her free in the path-dimension. In return, Eren continues living in the future. A life for a life.
Additionally, Eren being driven by freedom since he was born may be because all of Ymir's eternity of slavery within the paths dimension created him as an outlet for her desire to rebel and be free. It may also explain some of his anger issues when he was younger, being a manifestation of her frustration that she was never allowed to act upon.

Nah, in norse mythology the apple is a symbol of fertility. I think the devil is the first Eldian king and the apple is Ymir's first born.
I feel like it’s more so symbolic of her using her “gifts” to aid the Eldians. The things that they did - enslaving innocent people, brutally torturing them, and waging war relentlessly - I think you can liken those actions to those of the devil..

But if that were true, then how did Grisha live for 15 years. In 850 Shadis tells Eren he met Grisha 20 years ago. So in 845, when Eren got the attack titan’s powers, Grisha would’ve been alive for 15 years after he got the power.

I was thinking the same thing dude! When Isayama drew the tree, he made it look remarkably different and stand out from the other trees. This tree was bigger and more vibrant than the others, it also had that opening with the pit of water inside. Why would Isayama do that? Because AOT has heavy influence from Norse Myths and the tree Ymir ran into was a reference to Yggdrasil , The World Tree. Since The World tree was magical, it's not crazy to think Ymir's tree in this chapter is also magical.
There's also a bunch of people who've theorized that the Titans came from trees. Looks like that theory was pretty accurate after all.

When Ymir took a spear to the spine, she wasn't trying to protect the King, she actually wanted to die.
That might be your opinion but I disagree. Based on her behavior and on the fact that she has 3 daughters, I think she did it to stay loyal to the king to the very end. Not to mention that killing herself just made her a slave for 2000 years and condemned her daughters to keep suffering.

To me, it sounds like Ymir's 3 daughters also had 3 children each. So Ymir had a total of 9 grandchildren. And I'm thinking that maybe it stopped at 9 titans because they began to fight one another for power (the Titan War) and the 9 titans started being passed on to random Eldians during the war, as opposed to being passed on to Ymir's descendants. Just a thought.

There was nobody to rebuild her, she didnt say anything because she was a slave and knew nothing but to obey and be subservient which is why she went back to king fritz after she got her powers
@@Reaperherpderp If that were true then how was she able to transform into a titan at all? Because paths transcend time and space, so she was basically sending the titan body parts to herself when she transformed. So yeah she can regenerate, she probably didn't want to live on and chose to die. :)

The devil in this story isn't wrong completely. Her "husband" was a real piece of work- the horned helm is a giveaway.
For that matter, so is Zeke. He's all, "I have royal blood! I command you!" to the matriarch of the royal family. Rather than showing her respect, her own descendants treat her like a slave, and she's so conditioned to slavery that she never questions why they treat their mother so cruelly.

He was shown glimpses of random catastrophic events out of context, no way he could piece them together.

So Ymir must've known that Eren was going to become the Attack titan seeing as it's power is to look at future holders, I think she killed herself to try and speed up that process, also it's cool to find out why the nape is the weak spot of titans, seeing as she died like that.
I thought the neck was the weak spot because it severes the central nervous system of the human inside the titan, since the CNS is the only thing that remains intact and everything else on the human body gets consumed by the titan body.

I think that you are confusing the term "Eldian" with "Subject of Ymir". The Eldians are people affilated with the Eldian Empire (mostly composed of Subjects of Ymir but not all of them: the Ackermans, who are not Subjects of Ymir, are also Eldians) and the Subjects of Ymir are descendants of the progenitor herself who are connected to Paths and can turn into Titans. The first Subjects of Ymir were Maria, Rose and Sheena. Nowadays, thanks to Marleyan propaganda the term "Eldian" and "Subject of Ymir" are almost viewed as synonims. So, this is why the first Eldians where not able to turn into Titans, because they were not Subjects of Ymir.
