Peugeot RCZ - Great style and handling for ridiculously low prices! - BEARDS n CARS

  • The RCZ was a ballsy move from Peugeot, taking on the established sports coupe market, and especially the Audi TT quattro at their own game. But with its Zagato inspired double bubble rear window, outstandingly fun chassis and super economical engines even in its most potent 270 bhp form, the Peugeot RCZ is a seriously impressive entry from the marque in this segment of the market.
Nowadays though, years after its production ended, and with used prices reaching almost literal rock bottom, the question arises of 'why?' - and is this a deal as good as it looks? Let's take it to the streets and find out...

I've never driven a TT but I've have 5 other different cars including 407 coupe 3.0l V6 ,and the Rcz is the best ,but...the 407 coupe I had did have electronic adjustable suspension at the push of a button and I think was only available on the coupe V6 manual ,soft or stiff was actually pretty good on corners

Delighted to see your review. I owned a 2012 RCZ THP Auto from new until replacing it with a 2016 BMW 328i Sport because we needed more room. It was pretty much trouble free, and despite fears to the contrary it had no electronic glitches at all. Engine idle was so smooth that I felt let down when the new 328i replacing it had a less that smooth idle. Loved the looks of the RCZ and that rear visibility was outstanding for a sporty coupe. But park on a slope, and those long doors can get really heavy! Build quality was surprisingly good and sold. No squeaks or rattles ever developed. I even loved the novel wiper pattern too! Definitely would recommend the RCZ to anyone.

Forget the R Model.. for the best alround performance
Value for money is the 200THP GT
The rear seats are absolutely fine for children under 12
Larger than the audi TT. Plus the boot is massive
You Can buy a Nice GT with low miles & full service history
For 2k.. i know this ive done it.
We own two RCZ 's in our family couldnt be happier cheap as chips to buy economical spares are cheap absolute fantastic drivers Car.. a great all rounder.
At todays prices there is nothing ..& i do mean nothing !
That even comes close to value for money or smiles per miles.. one of Motorings Best kept secrets

I bought the Diesel HDI GT at 163 BHP and had it chipped ( re-mapped) to 200 BHP. Insurance will increase. I absolutely love this car and look after it. Check the oil regularly, keep your air pressures spot on. Avoid pot holes (or break springs). Its a great car... and goes like a train. I will keep this for years ..

Coming up to owning my model for a year now and I love it. I've got a 2011 GT model with 200bhp and it's such a fun car to drive. Bought it with 27k miles and looked after very well, absolutely over the moon with this car.
With the steering wheel, the GT models have smaller steering wheels with a flat bottom, much sportier feeling than the base models. Fantastic video!

@@aarona5351 sorry for the late reply! The engines are notoriously unreliable, but that's only going to be the case if you have one that's not been well looked after. Audi TT is boring. The only other similar styled car I can think that is like the RCZ is the much more track focused Lotus Elise or much newer recent Emira. I easily get 45mpg out my RCZ-R.

This car is a car of cars kid you not !!! 1 it will be a classic 2 it is without doubt as good if not better than the German T T!! 3 As already pointed out it is cheap at the moment "watch this space" 4 If you like being different its for you 5 All reviews to date in my humble opinion have been delicate in their approach 6 I am 70 years old have driven more cars than I can recall I love this car its worth every penny that i spent buying it 7 I am not an old git I have had 911's I still have a T.V.R. and ride fast motorcycles. This car is worth buying and driving I just love it 8 If you get a decent one now drive it for a few years "and look after it" you will not lose a penny infact a good one will be worth quite a few pennys in the next 10 years 9 All the German cars again in my humble opinion are living on history not impresed with any of the recent models so again due to numbers made you can not go wrong 10 The style is without doubt a work of art 11 put the back seats down and you can tour Europe with ease 12 how many sports /Gt cars can give you this much space 13 Take the badge of and you have what most folk think as a super car and to be honest thats what this car is !!!!! GO AND TRY ONE IF YOU DONT HAVE 6 KIDS AND YOU WANT A GREAT CAR GO AND HAVE A GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. If you have 6 kids go for a jap 4x4 it just makes sense !!!

Because from what I've seen the biggest reason people ignore it is because is that it's fwd as well as it being a pugeot. I could have seen it doing well as something like an mx5 competitor as well as an Audi TT competitor if it had a rwd variant at the time.
