      You’re defining Protestantism in different terms than the reformers did. A Protestant is just any Christian in an active Protest with the Roman Papacy and dogma of the Roman Catholic Church…. Technically your own Church isn’t very Protestant anymore in that traditional sense, nor are the Anglicans. So I fully reject your understanding of Protestantism, as would the reformers themselves

    This was my favourite interview so far.
    Myles' testimony in the beginning really resonated with me as mine is quite similar.
    I too have had an encounter with the Lord one night in my bedroom, and literally overnight all of my desires changed. I developed this intense hunger to read the Bible, from start to finish. The Word of God became so alive to me, and even though I had read the Bible before, it was like I was seeing some scriptures for the first time.
    Everything changed from that point on - my way of thinking, my perspective on worldly things, my desire for wordly entertainment disappeared etc.
    I started to hate the things that God hates, and had this intense burden for souls.
    All I can say is that once the Lord encounters you, and the scales are removed, it's impossible to go back to the old way of thinking.

      Fourth generation SDA (well former) and it was my whole life for 27 years! My heart finally learned the true gospel laid out black and white 2 years ago. Praise God.
      The thing that was always so confusing to me was Adventism has the same TERMS (made righteous by faith) but different DEFINITIONS
      see my whole life I did not understand because I was not taught the true nature of us, I didn’t understand that it was our actual spirit that was born dead, and that when we believe in what Jesus did that he raises our spirit from death to life, which then seals us with the Holy Spirit, (Ephesians 1) and that’s how we are declared righteous and how the law has nothing to do with that miracle, where we now operate under the law of Christ in a different covenant and led by the spirit and not the letter of the law.
      Then reading Galatians knocked me over. I had never read it before in my life. It literally blew me away two years ago when I learned the truth.. it was like reading the New Testament with completely new eyes

    Im going to pray for these young men to have their eyes open. I left 10 years ago, I didn’t know the gospel, I didn’t know or understand the trinity, I had horrible health problems due to the Adventist health message, I didn’t know the Bible period. I was taught to believe fellow believers were evil and that they would kill me. I had terrifying experiences in my SDA elementary and middle school where we were put through abusive scare tactics to “prepare” us for the torture we would face by other Christians. They put a little girl who was claustrophobic in a plastic container and yelled at her to share the 3 angels message. She was screaming so loud that the teacher eventually let her out and she cried, filled with guilt, believing she failed God.
    Praise God He is so merciful , so loving, and I finally know Him. I now understand His word through the Holy Spirit that opened my eyes.

      Jesus said, if you love me, keep my commandments. He also said that heaven and earth may pass away, but my words will never pass away. Some of you are just loving the new wave church, where you can support what God calls an abomination, willfully living in sin, supporting homosexuality, shacking up, elective abortions. A true church will teach all of the Bible from cover to cover. Some of you hate hearing about sin so you will gravitate towards the church that remains silent against sin and you love to embrace the very liberal church. But remember Heaven and earth shall pass away, but His words will never pass away. If you love me, KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS...

    Hey Myles, I too am a third generation former 7. I appreciate your work on these videos and what you and others are doing. My story, what it comes down to, was reading the Bible in context and letting the Bible interpret itself. I know this is how a lot of us have overcome false teachings and false gospels. Praise God, Holy Spirit, and The Word my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Now for the comment I have from watching the video. It is always interesting to me that the 7s love to say " Reading egw is meant to point people back to reading the Bible " Yet when they ask you , " How come you don't go to a 7 church anymore and why don't you subscribe to the 7s beliefs? ' And you answer, I read the Bible. They look at you with bewilderment. You said in the beginning of this video, that you got a hunger for the Word of God. So that is awesome right? I think that it is. When I tell people that I grew up with or my family members, that it was reading the Bible as to why I don't agree with the 7s theology, some then start to tell me I don't know anything and don't understand the 7 beliefs. As if I didn't even grow up with them and was taught the very same thing. It is so sad. The 3 responses that I get when telling my story are 1. I never knew of the contradictions between the Bible and egw. I am going to look into that. Then after some time and reading their Bibles, they pop smoke and leave. 2. Don't tell me anymore, because I like where I am at and what I am doing so leave me alone. 3. You have gone off the deep end. Argh, you are gonna get the mark of the beast! Again thank you.

      Yes, and the few times that i have been able to have more lengthy conversations about the fundamentals,( which by the way, are a lot as fundamentals go) they really don't know what they are themselves. And I understand that because I really didn't know them well either until I took the Gospel of Jesus to heart and examined them for myself. Defending beliefs that you don't really know what they are is crazy. I will continue to Pray and have conversations with my loved ones and friends. Thank you for your reply.@@Liz.StudentoftheKing

      Brilliantly stated. No 7 really wants to challenge their views Biblically when they realize they have been duped. It was hard for me as well. I’m a product of 3rd gen 7 and my father and grandfather were both ministers. As a very young child, I had questions that were never answered clearly about 7’s doctrine. When I started studying the Bible, everything I had been taught, could no longer be valid.

    • @Swimdaddycycle
      @Swimdaddycycle ปีที่แล้ว

      One more interesting thing that happened when we canceled our 7 membership was, when the 7 pastor asked why we were leaving, they wanted to make sure that it wasn't an issue with somebody or the 7 staff. When we explained that it was absolutely not, but was completely a matter of who Jesus is and what He has done, (The Gospel) and not agreeing with 7 fundamental beliefs, they immediately said "we respect your decision and goodbye. They were no longer wanting to discuss anything else or any further conversation. My wife and I thought that it was quite telling. Especially since we were quite involved volunteering there, and members for almost 40 years.

    Fascinating conversation. I remember feeling very similar to these men when I was preparing for the SDA ministry as a theology major. You're convinced that the Pioneers and even EGW are in need of correction; you cannot transfer to another denomination because your beliefs are too far afield, and so you remain and "fight" for the gospel. But you know deep down you can never win. You eventually view the divisions within Adventism as a strength. "We're a big tent." You give up belief in the church's authority to delineate correct teaching. Conviction feels "back and white"; doctrinal precision seems combative and impractical. I've seen it too many times. Lord, have mercy.

Raised directly with Ellen G White writings as the full understanding of what the Bible says and means. My 42 year old daughter has Never read a Ellen G White book and Yet speaking with her she is explaining to me her beliefs that come directly out of Ellen as if she’d read Ellen’s books and thus the understanding of the Scriptures she has is fully Ellen G White’s writings.

I have a suspicion that the reason they haven't left is because of the Sabbath, which I subjectively find the greatest obstacle if you disagree with EGW and IJ and some kind of complete yet incomplete contradiction of atonement, the Sabbath from the SDAs holds people back

    Myles, this interview goes to show that you were correct in another video when you said the field of Adventism is untapped and ripe for picking.
    It was bizarre how often the pastors agreed with you. At one point, they seemed to conceed that Adventism teaches a false gospel, but later retracted. I believe you planted some great seeds here. May another come along and water.
    One pastor admitted he would not be an Adventist if it wasnt for family. Adventism is a culture in itself. The sense of community and family is profound. However, Culture and family are not good enough reasons to stay in a religion.
    The Adventist laity is truley a special people and my heart goes out to them as they were my family for nearly a decade. It's time for Adventist to face the music and realize, they're not going to be able to change the organization or the fundamentals. God has offered the church many opportunities to repent of false doctrines and of the false prophet, but the organization has refused. It's time to get out of this false religion.
    Myles; continue to speak candidly, continue to ask the tough questions, continue to press and hold their feet to the fire. God is calling His people into his family.

    The question was asked to the three pastors: why would you remain in the Adventist Church ? I would first ask these questions back ? Where else would I go ? What other Church do you know that teaches believers that we need to keep all of God's commandments ? And with these questions , if we are truly Christians, then we have to consider what the Word of God says about keeping the commandments . Let's first go to the book of Revelation. We see that God specifically identifies His people as "those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus" (Rev. 14:12). Then we go to another verse in Revelation and read one of God's promises to His people : "Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city" (Rev. 22:14). And then the Apostle John really drives home the IMPORTANCE of COMMANDMENT KEEPING . We read "He who says, " I know Him, " and does not keep His commandments , is a liar and the truth is not in him." Now, I know that many people who claim to be Christians , also, believe that, since they are saved by grace, they no longer need to obey God . But this is not what the scriptures teach ! The 5th commandment tells us to honor our parents ; so why wouldn't we obey and honor our Creator and Redeemer as well ? After all, He is the One who gives us the breath of life and sustains us . We also see that there is an important connection between having our prayers answered and obeying God: We read "And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight"(1 John 3:22). Jesus, Himself, says "He who has My commandments and keeps them , it is he who loves Me..." (John 14:21) and "If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15) . King Solomon says: "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all" (Eccl. 12:13). Also mentioned in this interview ,and maybe at the very heart of it, is the gospel ! And I can think of so much Good News that we teach in the Seventh-Day-Adventist Church ; and Ellen White , in all of her writings, never fails to uplift Our wonderful Saviour ! I can understand how someone, in their youth , might have misunderstandings and doubts ; but I have trouble with understanding how a mature Christian can turn away from the TRUTH. I didn't grow up as an Adventist and never even heard of this Church until I was 45 years old. I'm now 76 years of age and just feel so happy and blessed that God led me into this Church. I grew up in a Southern Baptist Church and , in my early 20's, I met a beautiful Catholic girl and got married. So, not making religion a priority in my life, I joined the Catholic Church and we raised our children in the Catholic Church. Then about 20 years later , our family discovered the Truth, that had been missing in our lives through a book called The Great Controversy. And I just can't begin to tell all of the ways we've been blessed . But I will say that we recognized Truth, when we saw it, because we were making a habit of reading our Bibles. As for me, I will follow the Truth wherever it leads and I will never again choose to follow the popular "traditions of men" over the Bible. And , YES, this also means keeping that commandment that says "REMEMBER."

    I have a couple of questions.. 2 of the 3 pastors said that they felt they could use their position to preach the true gospel … I was under the impression (former SDA w/family & friends still in it) that the Gen Conf dictates/provides the sermon subject matter, Sabbath School lessons, & Bible Reading plans (which are more EGW than Bible). So if I’m correct on that- how will these pastors follow through with preaching the true gospel to their churches?
    Also, why be in a denomination that does not even make clear their statement of faith & beliefs?These pastors indicated, “well we know what it truly means..” so what about members or potential believers who research the denomination? Is it okay that ppl may turn away from further study or worship, since nothing is actually made clear?
    The Bible says that those who are called to exhort the gospel are held to a higher standard of obedience. Because they are influencing so many ppl.. I got the distinct impression that none of the 3 pastors actually seemed concerned with that.. 🤔 again, did I miss something? If so, please enlighten..
    My own dealings with unanswered questions & mixed messages is exactly why I left. After attending their schools through academy.
    Thankfully a true man of God preached the true gospel to me, which I accepted. And it is GOOD NEWS!
    I would like to ask all 3 pastors to reply to one question.. do you believe that you are saved by faith alone? And that your good works (aka fruits) are evidence of salvation NOT requirements? It’s a simple question.. easily answered by Gods Word.. nothing/no-one else needed..
    God bless you Myles.. what courage you have to take on 3 to 1.. keep sharing the GOOD NEWS OF THE GOSPEL! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

      To answer your questions:
      1. No the GC does not dictate what to preach
      2. No the Sabbath School quarterly is not required
      3. Yes you can preach the real gospel in an adventist church
      4. There are certain sacred cows that cannot be confronted publicly yet.
      5. God does keep calling us here to reach sda as they need Jesus too.
      6. Adventism is changing, especially since the internet.
      7. There are 3 Adventisms: left humanist, right pioneer worshippers, center evangelical; and that includes conferences too.

    My greatest prayer is that Adventists will actually hear and believe the gospel of our salvation (1 Cor 15:1-4). The three angels messages cannot save anyone. But unless the GC will allow pastors to preach the true Gospel and the completed Atonement (2000 yrs ago), and come to grips with the Jesus Christ and the One Triune God of Scripture, how will they ever be converted? Only Jesus saves us. Ellen White , the 3 angels msgs., law keeping and the sabbath cannot save anyone. None of those things are the power of God unto salvation. Fantastic job as always, Myles.

      Once they allow the enemy to blind their minds with his lies and deceptions, it will be very difficult, if not, impossible for them to allow the Holy Spirit to lead them out to the true gospel of Jesus Christ which can set them free.

    That was an informative and solid interaction. I commend the 3 SDA Pastors for being willing to confront their theological oddities by answering Adventism. Remember folks, Ellen White was a "rabid" anti-Trinitarian to her death. Read the August 29, 1878 (Volume 52 No. 10) Sabbath Herald Article written by D.M. Canright and tell me if ANY of it is compatible with the Doctrine of the Trinity. Next look up the August 22nd 1878 Sabbath Herald (Volume 52 No. 9) and read "THE COLORADO TENT" article wherein you may observe it gloated that Ellen White herself REVISED / EDITED Canright's August 29, 1878 Personality of God article that was militantly anti-Trinitarian. This alone should close the case on the subject of Ellen White leading the SDA Church to adopt the Trinity - it's outrageous to suggest such a thing.

    Finished up, I think the problem is their ecumenist spirit. They say over and over "we agree with that"... Well guys it's not what you would include in your beliefs, it's the fact that you won't exclude the wrong beliefs!
    For example, regarding the Trinity, they think it's okay to say 3 beings because later it says 3 persons. It doesn't matter if you later say the right thing, the fact that you also include believing the wrong thing totally nullifies the correct thing. Making such a blunder of "3 beings" but saying "well it's okay because it says 3 persons later" is the equivalent of standing before a judge saying "but your honor, look at all the people I didn't murder!" Wrong is wrong and these guys are acting like Jello with their beliefs not realizing how contradictory and flakey their theology is.
    I think Myles if you have another talk with them, it might be best to get them to state definitively what should NOT be believed. SDAs include anti trinitarians in their ranks often and that would be abhorrent to the church fathers, but I don't think these guys would care.

    Here’s a quote from the Catholic Catechism of the Council of Trent, 1566
    “But while God can be just, and yet justify the sinner through the merits of Christ, no man can cover his soul with the garments of Christ’s righteousness while practicing known sins, or neglecting known duties. *God requires the entire surrender of the heart, before justification can take place;* and in order for man to *retain justification,* there must be *continual obedience,* through active, living faith that works by love and purifies the soul.”
    Actually, I was just kidding; that was from _ELLEN WHITE, Selected Messages, Book One, page 366._
    Are Adventists really the heirs of the Protestant Reformation when their position on justification is closer to Rome’s infused righteousness of faith + works than Martin Luther or John Calvin’s imputed righteousness by faith alone?

    The essential question not addressed: does the bible, God's revealed word state...teach that what you believe can save you or damn you? If it does, then how is man a sinner reconciled or saved according to God's word? Then, all sects religion should be compared and contrasted according to God's word. And here are the differences in jw, sda, rcc, mormans, pca, evangelicals, islam, hindu, Buddhism, wicca, etc ...salvific beliefs are universal, catholic, not on who are the two witnesses...etc.

    A key verse often cited in this context is 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV):
    "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
    This verse emphasizes the value of Scripture in teaching and shaping believers. It implies that studying the Bible is important for spiritual growth and understanding God's will.
    Furthermore, the Bible repeatedly underscores the significance of God's word, as seen in Psalm 119:105 (NIV): "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." This illustrates how Scripture can serve as a guide in the lives of believers.
    While the Bible emphasizes the importance of studying God's word, it does not specifically mandate that people must do this on their own. However, within the Christian tradition, there is often encouragement for believers to study the Bible and seek to understand it in order to deepen their faith and strengthen their relationship with God. This is commonly achieved through personal Bible study, participation in group Bible studies, and listening to sermons and teachings based on the Bible.

    This is so frustrating. Miles you held it down. “I fear lest somehow as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ”
    Many of these supposed “branches of Christianity” (rightly identified as different trees with different roots) are so complex for the purpose of covering tracks and cloaking the actual spirit behind the system that the true gospel, that Christ is perfectly sufficient for salvation, in and of Himself, is lost. Good work, bro. Amen.

    I appreciate your sincerity and honesty in your beliefs. You seem to know better the Adventist Church and Adventist theology, even though you do not stick to it, than the pastors. I feel ashamed of my dear colleagues (the three SDA pastors). Unfortunately, they do not know what they believe very well. I do invite you to be faithful to the sola scriptura principle as you claim. How you define the gospel, and your beliefs is also based on Christian tradition, and that is where you have your problem. And that is not a secret, almost every renown Protestan Theologian and Evangelical will admit that they do not rely solely on Scripture, but also on tradition. You are starting at the wrong place in determining whether Adventist Theology is biblical or not.

    • @answeringadventism
      @answeringadventism  ปีที่แล้ว

      That isn’t what sola scriptura is. That’s the problem, like I mentioned-definitions. Sola scriptura is not “Bible only.” That’s called nuda scriptura, not sola scriptura. Major difference.
      But furthermore, it’s ridiculous to act like SDA theology is even “bible only.” Lol The Great Controversy theme is not from the Bible. We discussed this. Without that the SDA system of theology collapses.
      The SDA Church openly admits that Ellen White functions as an infallible interpreter. That you can’t understand the Bible without having her writings to interpret. We just went over this, yet again, last week: th-cam.com/users/livep-_r8uI4p5c?feature=share
      Point being, acting like SDA theology is “Bible only” is really silly. And sola scriptura is not “Bible only.” Study Protestantism better.
      Sola scriptura is the belief that scripture is the only INFALLIBLE rule of faith and practice for the church. Not the only source outright.
      You guys have an “infallible interpreter” who interprets the scriptures for you. That’s the antithesis of sola scriptura. Not believing the Creeds are biblical and recognizing Gods work in preserving His people and Church through the ages, thus they are an accurate summation of biblical doctrine.

    • @TodaEscritura...
      @TodaEscritura... ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well then, let us call it nuda Scriptura for your understanding. I am afraid you do not have a clear idea, nor the guess pastors, what the role of the gift of prophecy is. If the Bible is clear (though you do not agree), but to me is fundamentally clear, that God will restore the gift of prophecy in the last days, and if for me the Bible is the only rule of faith and practice, why to have a problem with Ellen White, if she is God's prophet? How did the pioneers came to accept Ellen White's prophetic gift? Through the Bible. Prophets were not only spiritual counselors, they had prophetic authority, whether they were canonical, or non-canonical, the Spirit is the same who inspires. God knows that human minds are limited in their understanding of revealed truth. Without prophetic guidance, there would be confusion, as there is right now, and as there was in Biblical times. So I do not stumble by that. If you use the Bible to apply the biblical tests of a prophet, and Ellen White passes that test, then fine. If you disagree, that is fine, but the problem is that your are bringing non-biblical presuppositions to the study, and therefore it is logical to fall into your conclusions. At least, you are more consistent than these pastors.

    • @TodaEscritura...
      @TodaEscritura... ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To your other point about the great controversy motif, I can't understand why you do not see it. This doctrine is so clear, it runs all through Scripture, that it is hard to miss it. The cross you and I believe in would not make any sense without the understanding of the Great Controversy. I see you are sincere, and I like you are challenging adventist pastors, so that they can go back to their Bibles. Just go to the Bible alone, and if you are sincere, God will show it to you (John 7:16-18).

    • @TodaEscritura...
      @TodaEscritura... ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GoogleUser-yv7fe The real issue here is the macro hermeneutical presuppositions that one brings into the study of the Bible. He is coming from the Protestant tradition who in turn use a highly classical model of interpretation that goes back to Plato and Aristotle. It’s a mixture of Philosophy and Theology. I am not ashamed to admit that Seventh-Day Adventist differ in many respects with Protestants and Evangelicals, even in the doctrine of salvation, because we use different hermeneutical presuppositions that those used in the past. Unfortunately few Adventist pastors and members know the difference, and therefore right now we have an identity crisis issue.

    Yeah, Myles, I first listened to your commentary a few days ago and I was grieved about some things that you were saying, such as near the end when you said "the SDA Church is preaching a false gospel around the world and sending millions of people to hell. Then you said that the SDA Church is not Christian. So, I'm just trying to understand a little more about your Christian beliefs. You mentioned that , since you left the SDA Church, you've joined the Presbyterian Church. So let me ask you a few questions. (1) What authority do you use for your beliefs ? From what I heard a few days ago, when you attacked SDA beliefs on Sabbath keeping , you can't be using the Bible as your authority for your faith. Seventh day Sabbath observance is clearly a doctrine that is followed throughout the Scriptures by God's people. In the book of Acts , we see that, many years after the ascension of Christ, the Jewish Christians, the Gentile Christians , and the Apostles were still observing the Lord's Sabbath day. We can see this in Acts 13:14, 42,44 , Acts 16:13, Acts 17:2, and Acts 18:4. You referred to the SDA Church as a reform movement instead of an extension of the first century Christian Church. I would tell you just the opposite, however, because it's you who are following the traditions of men by observing Sunday rather than God's holy Sabbath. My first question is this ? Why do you not follow God's commandment? ? I have a comment to share with you which was made by the PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH: "Until, therefore , it can be shown that the whole moral law has been repealed, the Sabbath will stand... The teaching of Christ confirms the perpetuity of the Sabbath " ---T. C . Blake, D. D., Theology Condensed, pp. 474, 475. Is this a double- speak by your Church or has your church just evolved into something all together different ? How can you justify just tossing out one of God's commandments but following the others ? Another question I have is this (2) Is your Church fulfilling the Great Commission to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations ? The SDA Church is in every nation where it is legal to be there; and we are also going into the others through the air waves and via satellite. We are following all of the counsel of Scriptures, as a Church. And , yes, Myles we are the remnant Church as defined in Rev 12:17( the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.) Rev 19:10 says" the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." So, let me ask you "What other Church is keeping all of God's commandments and has the prophetic gift in their Church ? Please understand that I in no way want to elevate myself or my church above those , in other churches , who are following all of the light that they have. It's the leaders of these churches that I'm calling out. They all profess to be Christian but do not obey God. And , by the way, obedience to God is an important part in our salvation, in receiving the Holy Spirit, and in having our prayers answered. Heb 5:9 says " And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who OBEY Him. " Acts 5:32 says " And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who OBEY Him"
    Then, in 1John 3:22, we read "And whatever we ask , we receive from Him because WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS and do those things that are pleasing in His sight." And I know that there are many who believe that, because they are saved by grace, they no longer need to obey God and keep all of His commandments; but this is not what the holy scriptures teach . So, I need to go now but I have much more to say later. In closing , I just want to say that I'm trying to follow all of the light that I have; and after spending about 20 years each in the Baptist and the Catholic Church, I'm so thankful that God led me to the SDA Church. There are just so many things I love about our church; but I never even heard of it before I was already in my early 40's.

    I too liked being Adventist. I went all the way through the school system and taught for the church. It’s family-like. As an adult, when I lived overseas a couple of years, I ran into people I knew already. It’s a small world. I would still be SDA, but I just don’t have the beliefs. EGW said we should be thinkers and not mere reflectors of other’s thoughts. No, no you don’t really want that! The belief is that God will lead you right back to the SDA beliefs if you think for yourself. Not true. As soon as I got outside of the SDA cloister that became apparent.
