    I like that he's not afraid to actually flavor a steak. Seems like everyone else on TH-cam does the exact same thing: salt, pepper, garlic. It's boring.

    About 12 years ago, I purchased a propane grill (which I ended up selling within a year) and for which I had to marinate everything. That was the only way to add some flavor (lacking) and take away the little propane flavor to them. I’ve only tried marinating a flank steak once with my Weber, but it didn’t compare to the dry rub steak…

    • @SaltyTales

      Marinaded churrasco is great but you should definetaly try some nice rubs on your steaks. It will take it to new levels! 😀

      @@SaltyTales oh, haven’t used marinades in more than 10 years. Back then I used my good old Weber grill, and tested it against regular salt, pepper and garlic. The simplicity of the these three was better than the marinade…since then I’ve used rubs (including the Ninja rub! )

    I followed the dry rub recipe, assuming you meant smoked paprika. It was a mistake! Plus it was way too salty. We had to throw the meat away after a few bites because of the salt level. It would’ve been much better had I used half the salt, perhaps.

    I think marinades are more finicky than it looks. The oil helps bring out herb flavors and the acid and salts of the citrus, vinegar, soy etc help get it into the meat. However, if done wrong the meat can get "drier" or conversely mushier if not right... I'm still trying to figure it out myself.

      I typically dry brine my steaks, for at least 12 hours. The salt in your rubs will draw out the moisture in the steak, and the moisture will re-enter the steak after a bit of time, creates a juicier, more flavorful steak, and with the nice rubbed crust to boot. uncovered in the fridge should do good

    @fostervf16 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Let's just start with me saying that when you cut the first steak I wanted to cry.
    And now the big issue with this test. You are using two completely different seasonings. The rub could have won simply because it's an amazing rub. And even though the marinade is probably amazing as well, the rub was just better. Maybe try making a marinade with the same ingredients as the rub. That's the only way to tell if one truly is better. You're comparing apples to oranges in this test. The video, as always, is a huge win. But the test itself....well....that's a different story.
    I can't wait to make this rub and marinade recipe. Both look amazing.

    Hi bro' Ninja !!! 👋😍🇮🇹
    Nice experiment, but I think the best choice is based on the type of meat. Sometimes rub is better, sometimes marinade is better. But this always depends on the type of meat ...
    🔥😉👍🍻

    • @SaltyTales
      @SaltyTales  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you, marinades are used more as tenderizers but some people love to add flavors that way and I was very curious about it! 😀😀 Thank you my brother!

      Correct my friend. In fact, if you cook meat over a full flame, the marinade is better because you also use it to flip 'n flop the meat, but the marinade is also excellent for stews and braised meats ... (but you, on this channel, don't make them 😜)
