- I decided to break up what would have been a very long train journey from Turkistan to Almaty by stopping off in taraz, one of Kazakhstans oldest cities. Unfortunately over the years it’s been flattened many times by chinghis khan, the soviets, etc, but there’s still quite a lot to see including some preserved mausoleums and an archaeological site. Definitely worth a visit in my opinion! Thanks for all your lovely comments and support lately, it means a lot ❤️

I’m nimi, a solo traveller from the UK. I love to make videos so I am documenting my journey as I explore other cultures, history and landscapes around the world.
Everything is so pristine and well laid out there, it seems they were expecting lots of tourists but so few people know it is there. Thanks for showing how beautiful it is. 😊
@@andrewuk4813 thank you for watching Andrew 😁
Definitely a good price to be able to have a look at a fascinating archaeology site. It's again interesting how wide open the spaces are (which is no doubt made more apparent by the lack of people filling them). Lot's of lovely architecture with seemingly very few people to enjoy it.
Yeah it was a bargain!! It was a really cool place and the prices were probably low due to the lack of tourists so can’t really complain 😂
Oh gosh ... another city we visited on our way across Kazakhstan. Another cascade of wonderful memories triggered. I love this country so much 🙂
@@robscovell5951 it’s a wonderful country!! I can’t wait to go back and do the northern regions 😄
@@madmousetales, will be really cold there, unless you come in late June or July )
@@timkaz8793 yeah , maybe next year 😁
You'll have to show us your train journey and getting through customs! 👍
Coming up tonight 😊
Strange to see the sites so empty of people though that can be quite nice compared to how crowded some tourist areas can be. I would imagine that the war has affected the amount of tourism in many countries in the former USSR. [or is it the affect of Borat's infamous movie that pilloried Kazakhstan]? Stay safe on your journey and enjoy!
I think the events of the last few years have affected tourism in a lot of places for sure! Not sure this is the most touristy city though, maybe in the future it will be 😊
@@madmousetales I guess a lot of factors can affect tourism, including what's popular on social platforms. I'm guessing though as my travelling days are over... Glad you can take us along so we can live vicariously. 🙂
Hello Kazakhstan!! Lovely Video!!
Thank you so much ❤
@@madmousetales Sure thing!!
Great job Nimi Love the hummingbird. You have a bit of David Attenborough in you 😂
@@VanceMatthews-qx9dv the only animals that usually let me near them are cats 😂
Leaving tne tomb as you felt uncomfortable was well done. I would have done the same, especially after local effort and presumably money had paid for the restoration, so it meant something more to them than just history. Shame there was no cat there however, as I suspect the incumbent would have been happy with its presence. The blue mural mosaics on the closed museums were stunning.
Yeah I think it’s a bit of a pilgramage site, and you’re right about the cat 😂 thanks for watching! 😊
a cat?? haha.
@@Ahmed-iam a cat is always a good addition anywhere 😆
Welcome to my homecountry, I've lived in the UK for 10 years. Nice to see Brits in Kazakhstan.
@@Ahmed-iam ohh nice, that’s interesting I have never met a Kazakh person in the UK Before 😄
