I've seen a number of people play this game with varying degrees of thalassophobia (fear of oceans and open water). It's fascinating to see how this games stretches and shifts their anxiety and fears. Things that scared them before, almost feel like the safe and familiar when they venture further and deeper. Each time they encounter new unknowns or new dangers, the old dangers and unknowns do not feel that menacing anymore. So in my opinion this game does a great job of slowly helping to push boundaries in a very natural way.
