  • Nestled along the serene banks of the Rhine River, Cologne beckons with an irresistible blend of historical enchantment and vibrant modernity. With its heartwarming spirit, this city in western Germany captures the essence of a fairytale destination. Strolling through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, you'll find a kaleidoscope of pastel-hued houses, cosy cafes, and quaint boutiques that seem plucked from the pages of a storybook.
Cologne is a city in the German western state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). It is the fourth-most populous city in Germany with nearly 1.1 million inhabitants in the city proper and over 3.1 million people in the urban region. The city is positioned on the west bank of the Rhine River. The French version of the city's name Cologne has become standard in English. The city is easily reachable through Cologne-Bonn airport and by train. The train station is right in the central part of the city.
Cologne was founded and established in the 1st century CE as the Roman Colonia Agrippina.
In the medieval period, Cologne prospered as it occupied a pivotal position along one of the primary trade routes connecting Europe.
Cologne was one of the most heavily bombed cities in Germany during World War II. The bombing destroyed almost the entire old city. The post-war rebuilding has ended in a very mixed cityscape, restoring only major historic landmarks like city gates and churches.
