Love the design! A tip for the dowels: drill the holes in the tenons slightly off from the holes in the mortise. The dowel will then pull the joint together an the dowel will be held tight (no glue needed).
thanks! yes that would've been a good idea. I've seen that done sometime, but didn't dare it with all the strange angles. I wouldn't know a reasonably fast way to get the holes in the right place. And as it's wet wood that'll be out in the sun, it's gonna move a ton, so I would've added some glue anyway I think? But it's a good suggestion and I'd like to try it sometime!
1. I like the accent 2. I like the spade you mix concrete with. Wish I could find one like that in the US 3. I like the gate, but- it looks like it would be a problem opening both sides simultaneously as they will collide with each other. 4. I am curious how the gate is latched closed.
thanks a lot. Yes, they can't open at the exact same time. But a tiny different is enough already. At the very very end of the video you can see the latch. It's just a pin from one to the other. Nothing fancy or even with a lock. Might change it in the future. It just keeps it from swinging open
it has! watch the very very end. It took us a couple months before we got to it, but we made a nice little metal pin that goes from one gate to the other. It's not strong and it doesn't lock with a key or something like that, but this gate is currently "protecting" an empty field, so it's fine
Might make a video about that some day. I've considered "My White Collar Job" as a channel name. Basically it's a little protest against the terms blue/white collar and the snobbery that comes along with them. With the added benefit that it brings some consistency to my appearance
Fantastic narrative style! Wonderful to have apple pie and friends

Wauw! That looks amazing :) And very cute how you close the gate together at the end!

👍👍👍 Love it. Thank you both
thanks! our pleasure
Design is awesome but it is looking like frame. Gate is stoper for animals and some unwanted entering to your property 😄
Will it have some sort of latching mechanism?
it has! watch the very very end.

Yes! Or is that a new word for cool or something?
Who wears a button down white dress shirt while grinding and welding?
Might make a video about that some day.
