That was sooo cool! Glad they left some of the old poles up, just feel like the tracks now are getting so sterile looking with nothing but signals. Nice vid!
I hit Marion up for the first time back in July and I had a blast. Nothing like the sound of trains hitting the diamonds. When I was there there was only one CSX train I saw that headed north and it was a coal drag. CSX was doing signal work so there was plenty of NS and EB/WB CSX action as well. Saw the NS 1070 and the CSX L&N units that day. Saw 28 trains that day. Can't wait to go back ! Also would like to add them I am jealous you caught that GP38-2 high hood trailing on the first train lol
MrMark85044 It's a museum. They have an old switching tower with stairs and a deck. That's where i was standing. Gives you an amazing view of the trains goin by! -JG
Back in the 90s it wasn't unusual to see a 4 train meet.. Two on CSX and two on NS. It wasn't uncommon to see 80 trains in 12 hours back then, CR, CSX and NS put on quite a show.
brakie44820 This spot is still pretty busy, and your right, 4 trains at once is pretty normal now. Was only there for an hour and saw 14 trains. They definitely keep stuff moving! Thanks for watching! -JG
Your welcome. I would like to mention this. Saturdays and Sundays there was always 15-20 railfans there which resulted in a lot of interesting train discussions. Of course the Marion HO club was open Sundays and I usually had the Walleye fish dinner at the Shovel Inn every Saturday. I live 17 miles from Marion and use to go there every weekend. Now I favor Fostoria or Bellevue. Time for a revisit.
brakie44820 Yeah, it's always nice to talk to other railfans. Bellevue is a nice spot but I really don't like Fostoria. Waaaay too many people recording and taking things too seriously.... -JG

@@shawnfloyd5757 thanks for reminding. I need to check configurations!!
DARTrider its pure exicitment from seeing a highhood ,almost invisble in railroading entirly. Purly understandable!
