I went to GED classes at the college, and the instructor could not help me the way these videos have… I’m crying as I type this because my last 2 math scores were 138, and I was sure I was gonna make the same score the 3rd time! If, I can hug and kiss this man today, I would!! His voice is so soothing, he explains everything so easily, in a way you could understand! His humor makes you wanna watch all his videos, you don’t get boring! You’re having fun while you’re learning, I know, crazy right!!! Yup! That's another way to do it, is change x = 4 for B: 1/3(4) + 5/3 and this will give us 3, so (4, 3) works! Or, if you plug in x = -5: 1/3(-5) + 5/3 and this will give us 0, so (-5, 0) works! Hope that helps!

@@GetSumMath it is for a job that I have to go to school for so needed my GED first. I had worked as an assistant manager in a grocery store for close to 15 years and wasn’t really happy with my life. I was offered a job doing lashes as it’s become a booming industry and I jumped at the chance. It’s pretty scary changing careers and taking a hit financially but I choose to be happy 😁

Glad it was helpful! You probably know this, but be careful - the GED in Canada is a very different test than what shows up on the US GED! I'm liking your videos so far. A lot of these other videos, the people just seem to pull numbers from nowhere. I also like that you take the time to show how to use the calculator. It's been like 11 years since school so I forgot all that lol. I got a 142 on my practice test, and that was with next to no studying, so I hope after watching these, I'll feel confident enough to try again.

Hey there, good point! Since some of their answers still have a pi in them, if you use the pi button you can find that answer easily. If they use the decimal form you can just use the left/right button above Enter to convert, so you're covered either way. But, I agree with you, they do sometimes round to pi, so their multiple choice might be slightly different (but it'll still be obvious which it is). I just like that with the pi button you can see either answer easily!

Some of it was using common sense, but a lot of this algebraic stuff seems unfathomable to me. Like I need it explained to me like I'm five, but I don't know where to start. Thank you.
A great place to start are some individual topic videos so you can see many examples! I would start with Functions, Distance on Number Lines, Mean/Median/Mode initially. Then you could start getting into Area, Perimeter, and geometry. But, the algebra is the hardest part, so I would definitely save that for last!

Great question - if it shows up in the front, it'll be the white negative (-) button on the bottom, but if it's between things, it'll be the minus - sign on the right side. Hope that helps a little!
It's a TI-30xs Multiview. They sell it on Amazon for $15, but I've heard that you can download the digital version with a 90 day free-trial on Texas Instrument's website. Hope that helps!
The main reason you might get a syntax error is using a minus instead of a negative in the parentheses. Or, using the negative button instead of a minus between numbers. Lastly, just making sure to close all parentheses. Let me know if that helps!

Yup! That's another way to do it, is change x = 4 for B:

You continue to use the pi symbol for your calculations, but on the GED test you are supposed to use the rounded off amount of 3.14.

I just took my third math practice test and got 144 and last time I got 139 so I think I am almost ready for the math exam
6:33 doing 24.50 - 16.75 and dividing the result 7.75 by 1.55 also works to answer 5 👍
